    Hi to all forum members!

I see that there is not a Vostro 3550 owners thread, so I open this one to ask a few questions about it.

Recently i've been offered the following deal:

    Vostro 3550
    Core i7 2620
    500 GB 7200 RPM
    6 GB Ram
    Ati Radeon 6630
    3 years warranty

    For about 800€ (1173$)

I think that's a pretty good deal, but i intend to use this laptop for virtualization and some gaming too. I would like to know if this laptop could move more or less fluently the most recent games or there are better options for this price.

Thanks a lot, any input would be appreciated!!

You will have no problem playing almost all latest titles at medium-high settings at laptop's native resolution with AMD Radeon HD 6630M.

If I were you, I would pick one with 4GB ram and then buy 4GB stick extra, because in your set up, there will be 1x4GB + 1x2GB ram and if you ever want to have 8GB, you will need to remove 2GB stick to make space for a 4GB stick.
If RAM isn't an issue for you then yes, it's a very good deal indeed. In my country you would get Core i5 2410M and 4GB ram for such price.

Thanks a lot Songee for the reply. I think i'll wait some more to get a new laptop. I think i'll be happier with a 4 four core processor :)

By the way, i7 does'n mean it's a quad core. 2620M is still a dual core processor. Still, it is slightly more powerful than i5-2410M.

And here my very own Vostro 3550 arrived! :D

    First impresions:
    1) It looks very good, feels solid, no wobbly parts.
    2) Scree is just awesome. I've never thought business class notebooks had such bright and vibrant displays. Now I'm typing this at only 1/3 of its brightness and it is completely comfortable having in mind that I'm sitting just below velux windows and light (no sun, cloudy, but it's 5pm here). Setting it at maximum hurts my eyes a lot.
    2) keyboard is pleasant to type
    3) laptop runs very cool. Temps never reach more than 70 celcius, even under load (tried playing Gothic 3 for an hour), GPU temps stayed at 54 celcius, cpu at 66.
    4) laptop is way smaller tha I have imagined, I'm even gald that I went for 3550 instead of 3450.
    5) as far as battery life goes, I don't know how many hours it will last, I have a 6-cell, I will post about it as soon as I need to have my laptop out of AC power.

I'm verry happy with it. It satisfied my every expectation about it. Business laptops are way better that people tend to think, that's what I reckon. That's all I can tell you now. Feel free to ask me anything about Vostro 3550 and I'll try to answer you. :)
