Latitude 13 has only 1 dimm slot. You will spend more than 200 for the SSD and the 4gb stick. There are some systems at the outlet already with SSD and 4gb, plus 25% off.

Actually I got the OCz vertex 2 for $140 shipped and a stick
Of patriot 4th ram for $65 shipped. So it was $205 out the door..

It's a good choice. I've been a long time Latitude X1 user and have been very happy with the machine. Looking to upgrade and the V13 (And new HP DM3T) are the machines I've been checking. Look forward to your review.

Just keep in mind that your current notebook was far higher end back in 2005 than the V13 is today. Basically, the Latitude 13 and Vostro 13 are subnotebooks, with last generation processors. Going back 5 years, single core processors were fine. That was 5 years ago. It's pretty telling that when Intel brought out its current i Core SULV processors, they dumped the single core model.

As far as the HP DM3, I'd advise you to wait and try the updated model in a bricks and mortar retail store. The last DM3 seemed to run very hot, but the new model promises a flat bottomed cooling system similar in concept to a MacBook. Well have to wait and see how well it works.

It depends what you want to do on your machine.

My desktop, which I use more than my laptop, is
a six year old Pentium 4 and it's fine for Office 2010
and general surfing. The P4 is pretty pathetic in
the benchmark charts but it's good enough.
