In short, I am in need of a new laptop. Should I wait for the new 6X20 series with SB, or just get the current 6X10 series?

You can get good deals now on the E6x10 models at Dell Outlet. Rumours elsewhere in this forum suggest that the E6x20 models may be officially launched in about March and it will probably be mid year before those models start to appear in the Outlet. If you can find a good bargain now then you leave your options open to upgrade in a year's time and sell your current purchase without much price loss.

Sandybridge will bring improved integrated graphics performance and maybe some improvements in CPU power efficiency. If you are considering the 14" size then there is a strong possibility that the display will be 16:9 as opposed to the current 16:10. Most people here consider that 16:9 is a step backwards in progress.

As John stated, if you absolutely need a laptop I would look at an E6410/E6400. I purchased my base E6410 for 458 after shipping/tax and an Outlet coupon with an i3, 1 GB RAM, 160 GB HDD which will be upgraded later on. And as stated, I refuse to get a 16:9 laptop as many people on this forum have the same mindset.
