    Hi,

I'd like to know what explain the expensive price of the dell precision m4500 versus, for example, a xps 1645 with the same specs. We are talking of more than a 1000$ for almost the same specs. How is the overall build quality and heat management of the m4500 compared to the xps 1645?

    Thank you.

    Business-grade features.

That would include docking, magnesium-alloy chassis, 3-year warranty standard, durability and reliability, security features, etc.

3y warranty would be at least 250usd, iirc. The one thing I like about Dell's higher end laptops - no flex, whatsoever. I went from a D820 to a M1210, and I never noticed how utterly solid the D820 was until I switched over to the M1210.

I don't know about the other stuff, I modded the guts out of the Intel GMA 950 drivers on my D820, so stability was *definately* not on my priority list, lol.

Not only that, but usually you can obtain far more sizeable discounts on the 'business' laptops than you can on the 'consumer' ones that their prices aren't that much different.

For instance, my D830 was acquired for 50% (yes, half) of what the Dell build-to-order website was quoting. Brand new.

I usually get 10-25% off any dell laptop through business buy too. Where are you located? I'm in Canada and their pricing differs a lot with the US ones on certain model.
