I am considering buying a new laptop. See this separate post for details.

I am currently leaning most towards buying a Dell Latitude line notebook, but am bummed that USB 3.0 seems to be mostly absent from that line (especially in the portable category).

Does anyone know when Dell will start adding in USB 3.0 to the Latitude line? Months? Years?

Also, Latitude owners, feel free to give me any feedback concerning your love/hate of the line. I have been told that it is vastly better than Dell's consumer models in build quality, reliability, and support.

next revision most likely, or whenever it gets added to the chipset.

Probably when Intel decides to integrate the technology into their chipset. Thus probably not until next year's refresh. Maybe longer. Even if Dell decides to implement USB 3.0 with the NEC chipset or something, it still won't be until the refresh.

USB 3.0 is still in it's early stages and will not hit the mainstream until next year (assuming Intel decides to implement it natively in their chipset). Until then, if you really need it, you can always look into an ExpressCard solution.

    Thanks for the feedback guys.

Am really bummed that USB 3.0 will take a year to arrive...
