    Hi All,

I am shopping around for a new hard drive for my Dell Lattitude D830 laptop.
Going to take out the old one and put in something with more space. I have
    a newbie question.

I found this Seagate 160gb SATA 2.5 here that looks like it will most definitely
    work with the laptop.

But I am wondering if this one will work as well. I would prefer this one since it's 500GB, much larger capacity.

    500GB 7200RPM 2.5 SATA Laptop Hard Drive SEAGATE 7200.4

    Also this one here

White Label 320GB 2.5" SATA 7200RPM Notebook Hard Drive

    Thanks in advance !

Any of the ones you mentioned should work.

I have the 500GB Seagate myself - a ST9500420ASG, though in a E6500 Latitude. (The one you linked to is not a "G", and does not have the shock sensor protection.) For these drives in particular, make sure that your purchase includes a valid warranty. It seems that a large batch of these drives have an issue with the heads continuously locking, which while not only bad for the drive itself, causes the system to momentarily freeze. While the issue did seem specific to the ASG drives, some users reported the same issue with the AS drives as well. That said, Seagate exchanged the drive for me under warranty, though with a refurbished unit. However, everything has been going great since.
