Hello everyone, first time poster but long time lurker. I previously had a Precision M6600 - Quadro 3000M before upgrading to the Alienware M17x R3 - GTX580M that I have now. One thing I loved about the M6600 was the amazing battery life using the Dell-customized "Max Battery Life" power plan for periods of undemanding use. I also noticed that using the low-latency plan gave noticeable improvements in smoothness while watching HD video.

My question is, which program package contains these plans - is it the Dell System Software, or, can the power plans be downloaded from support.dell.com as standalone programs and ported?

Additionally, has anyone installed and used these power plans in another PC? Truth is, I can sort of answer this question. I had the M6600's factory disk image restored onto an SSD I used as the boot drive in the M6600 and when I switched computers I kept that SSD and booted off it once on the Alienware machine without any changes before doing a clean installation. Naturally most of the hardware drivers were broken, but I distinctly remember that I still had the power plans but never actually tried long enough to see whether they worked.

Thanks very much for any help you can offer.

That software is only compatible with the Precision line. I think it is the Dell Control Point or something along the lines.

I tried installing to other Dell models, Vostro, Adamo, Alienware, but did not work.
