I'm a bit curious as to why my E5520 Windows Experience with an i5 2410m shows only 5.9 on memory ops. When I tested a month ago, I though it was low and now I see, it isn't typical.

In notebook checks review for 5420 and 6520 they both show 7.5 or higher for memory. I have 2 2gig sticks and can't figure out what could be causing it. Is there bad Dell memory? Or a test a could run? Maybe a clock setting is wrong somewhere?

I think that 5.9 is the maximum WEI score for 4GB. Increase your RAM and the score will go up. However, your everyday performance won't improve unless you run programs that benefit from the extra RAM. WEI has its imperfections.

Take WEI results with a grain of salt. It does not consistently give accurate information and can sometimes just generate random crap. It is by no means a benchmark but rather a Experience Index.

Ok I understand it's not a true benchmark but I ran it about 5 times without wi-fi or anything turned on, no power mgmt and got the same score. And the site referenced consistently gets a better score for whatever reason, same or only slightly better cpu. I guess from my perspective, since Sandybridge was supposed to fix the memory latency exhibited with Clarkdale/Arrandale since controller was not truly integrated yet-- like AMDs--I'm a bit disappointed and it gives me the feeling something is wrong with this pc or the configuration.

I'm not a testing guru but I get a little concerned when new stuff isn't matching other tests. Maybe it's something simple, like I missed something else to turn off. And yet I also know that my WEI for Gaming, seems to beat many tests I've seen, some with the same HD3000 by as much as .5. So maybe that is the "randomness" you reference.

Sandry Bridge's memory controller is integated. That's one reason for the major performance improvement of the Intel GPU.

    Sisoftware Sandra gives my T420s RAM (i5-2520M + 2 x 2GB 1333MHz) a memory bandwidth of over 16GB/s while WEI gives it a 5.9. The 2 x 4GB i5-540M in my E6400 managed about 9GB/s on the same benchmark while WEI gives it a 7.2.

I guess it must be the test as you guys say. I also emailed notebookcheck and they told me they often get emails from people who get different scores but they don't provide details of it because of the variation and they don't really emphasize the index in their reviews. Good to know and thanks for the info. I'll stop worrying about it now.

Do you have the same windows ? I guess that you have the 64 bit and they have the 32 bit.
