Will my D830 run an external monitor?

    i have D830 with the specs below. I opted for WXGA on this cause I thought the screen wasn't big enough for 1920 res.. but I am wanting to hook up a 24" monitor to it now that is 1920x1200. Will what I have run it???

    Yes, your D830 can by hooked up to a 24" external monitor with 1920x1200 resolution.
    The main thing here is your graphics card (in your case the x3100). This integrated card can support up to 1080p i.e. 1920x1200. So you're all set!

    Even though i can't select 1920x1200 on my laptop display settings...?

    Yeah, the option isn't there now because you don't have a monitor connected right now that can display that resolution.

    You should be able to select it when you're plugged in with an external monitor. But you can't select it to view it on your laptop screen.

    Thanks all - I just got off chat with a dell support person and they said the card in here will run up to 2048x1536... perfect!
