Exactly the same model works fine in my M6500. So if the E6520 supports minicard SSDs at all (I'm too lazy to check right now) it should work.

Would like to know too, since I don't have anything in my WWAN slot on my E6420. Nobody can seem to give a definitive "I tested it and it didn't work" or "I tested it and it worked" answer about whether that slot will accept an mSATA minicard. :(

An mSATA SSD won't work in the WWAN slot. At least it doesn't in the M6500 and I guess it's the same for the E6x20. So if you have no dedicated mSATA slot (should be labeled with "FCM") it won't work.

Thanks for the feedback. I would normally agree, except that one of the Dell documents says that the E4200 and E4300 can use a flash card in the WWAN:
    Documentation

Though it doesn't give any details about it except that if you didn't buy it with it, you can't get it separately. The theory also starts losing more stream when you look at the BIOS, since it only shows 4 SATA slots (SATA0, 1, 6, and 7 <= presumably internal HDD, ODD, eSATA on-board, dock eSATA).

Will probably have to open this thing one day and see if it's stenciled FCM or anything like that anywhere, though it would've been nice had Intel actually made an mPCIe SSD card with a controller so that existing systems could take advantage of it...

EDIT: Hrm, a number of Latitude service manuals seem to indicate those slots are multi-function (ie: WWAN/FCM or WPAN/UWB/FCM)... they do make a big deal about not using the WLAN slot, saying it might cause system damage, though.

I opened my e6520 the other day to install ram. The WWAN slot is not stenciled for FCM. This being said, there is a Flash SATA slot (same size as the WLAN). Does anyone know of current/future availability of those drives? I have seen them listed by a couple of manufacturers but nothing for consumers.

So the 6520 actually says flash?

I opened my 6420 the other day. It seems to have two slots open -- WWAN and MINI. Not sure what the second one is intended for, since the service manual makes absolutely no mention of what the second slot.

Some threads here seem to imply some other earlier Precision/Latitudes/Vostros used Samsung ones. Dunno if it's worth the risk to try after all those warnings about putting an mSATA device into a WLAN slot...
