Windows 7 on Latitude D630

I'm thinking about getting a D630 and installing the 64-bit version of Windows 7 on it. Is there any reason that this won't be an easy process? Do I need any drivers from Dell?

I read here (http://www.sevenforums.com/sound-audio/8676-dell-latitude-d630-docking-station-no-audio.html) that someone had a problem with audio from a docking station, but apparently it's fixed by installing vista drivers from the Dell website. But it's not clear as to which drivers to install -- audio only, chipset, something else, all of them?

Anyone have a D630 with a docking station, running Windows 7 with everything working smoothly?

 

I've been deploying them at work right and left, they work just fine.

 

And I'm sure that someone means audio driver. Meaning, the equivalent driver for what ever that doesn't work.

 

My D630, Windows ultimate x64 works perfectly except hot undock.

When I undock (after the message says it is safe to do so) I pull the laptop out and open the lid... no display. Laptop is running. Pressing the FN-display key to change to lcd etc does nothing.

If I hibernate it (close lid with my settings) then open it and press the power button it is ok.

 

My D630 works just fine with Windows 7 Pro x64. Installing it was no problem.

I installed the graphics, WLAN and chipset drivers from Intel.

 

Where did you get the drivers from? Could you provide a link? I cant find anything.

 

Windows 7 and Windows Vista are from the same core, so the drivers are compatible. Use Vista drivers from Dell, or use default driver from Windows 7.

 

bump, are there any processors that came with the D630 that WON'T work with 64-bit Windows 7? I know mine is dual core, but I can't remember the clock speed (planning to check that tonight)

 

I believe all Core 2 Duo processors support 64-bit.
