Hi, there is already topic about E6400, so lets make topic about E4300 and Windows 7.

So for now my feelings are not to good.
Dell is just starting to support Windows 7 on E4300. There are now few drivers coresponding to that system, but...
    - Dell ControlPoint Security Manager Application - upgraded to A13 but still there are some problems with fingerprint reader after starting from sleep mode (long time before reader connect).
    - Dell ControlPoint Security Device Driver - upraded to A12 but still I have a SmartCard Device (SCFILTER\CID_3303013145410602b6) without drivers. Weird, because there is another SmartCard device that is installed corect, and my E4300 have only one SmartCards Reader.
    - Dell ControlPoint System Manager - even with new A12 there is no possibility to adjust brightness without ALS.
    - there are another two devices without drivers. Some "PCI Serial Port", and "PCI Simple Communications Controller".

So thats all for now. Do you have the same problems? I'm using Windows 7 x64 RTM.

    Regards

I popped a spare hdd into my E4300 (I normally run linux) and installed Windows 7 a couple weeks ago with the RTM became available. I didn't have any problems and everything worked just fine.

Considering that Windows 7 is not available to the general public yet, I would cut Dell some slack on the driver support. I did notice some Windows 7 drivers popping in for the E6400's and I would expect other E-Series Latitudes to follow shortly.

I've been using windows 7 RTM on my E4300 for a couple of weeks now and have had no issues. all the drivers were either builtin to win 7, or the vista x64 versions off dell's web site worked.

do you have a SmartCard Reader?
I have another two devices without drivers:
    - PCI Serial Port - PCI\VEN_8086&DEV_2A47&SUBSYS_024D1028&REV_07
    - PCI Simple Communications Controller - PCI\VEN_8086&DEV_2A44&SUBSYS_024D1028&REV_07

I gues i need Intel AMT SOL/ LMS drivers, but thouse from dell site for vista x64 can't be install on windows 7 x64

I would be really surprised if you could get the brightness control to work with ALS (ambient light sensor) disabled.

brightness control is the only thing that sometimes works sometimes doesn't, but since I don't really use it that much, it doesn't bother me. (it didn't work in vista either).

I installed the intel AMT SOL/LMS drivers for vista 64 and it worked fine (both on the E4300, an E6400 and an optiplex 960) all running win 7 RTM professional x64

I've just noticed they delete Windows 7 x64 category from operating system list, and left x86.
There is a new release of Dell ControlPoint Security Manager Application in a Windows 7 x86 category. It a A14 from 2009-08-25

Thenew3: I've download thouse drivers again, but this time not from Polish subcategory (i'm from Poland) but English. There are newer driver for SOL/LMS and HECI. With Vista compatibility mode I manage to install it - so thanx for advice.

So at this moment i have only one device without driver - its a Smart Card. In fact i'm thinking that only half of this device has no driver. Another half is installed corectly. I think my problem is the same as mensioned here: http://www.sevenforums.com/drivers/3275-smartcard-reader-issues.html
So I think i just need to wait for the new one.

I'm running Windows 7 RC and I updated the BIOS this morning. I'm not really seeing any appreciable change in anything - what was the BIOS update supposed to address specifically?
