    Hi Guys,
First want to say hi since this is my first post here, been a Thinkpad user for years(a regular member on thinkpad forums) but it died last week so I picked up a very nice D620 last night. So from now on you'll be seeing a lot of me here :)
I got a great deal on a D620 w/2Ghz Intel Core Duo & 2gb of DDR2 ram, it's coming with XP Pro but I've been running Windows 7 here on my Dell Desktop since around February(RC/beta version then bought Ultimate version when it was released) and I have to say I like it a lot and would love to install it on the D620 when it comes, has anyone here installed Windows 7 on their D620 and if so and have any driver problems or issues of any kind??
Thanks in advance and sure nice to be here...

Welcome to NBR! And nice that you have a D620. The components in a D620 are fairly standard stuff, so you should be able to run Windows 7 with no problem. I'm running it on my D630-which is basically a Santa Rosa chipset based D620, with no problems.

To be on the safe side, once you get it, you can run the Windows 7 Upgrade Advisor: http://windows.microsoft.com/en-US/windows/downloads/upgrade-advisor

Hope to see ya around! :)

Been there done that... about a year ago with one of the late 6000 or early 7000 builds when I still had my D620. No real problems that I can remember; everything pretty much worked out of the box. If there was device for which 7 didn't find a driver, I'm pretty sure the Vista equivalent did the trick.

    Thanks booboo & Commander,
That's what I was hoping to hear, I will run Windows 7 Upgrade Advisor just to be on the safe side but it seems you guys had no problems what so ever...

I wouldn't bother with the upgrade advisor. I never trust it anyways.

That being said, I've ran Windows 7 RTM 32-bit and 64-bit versions on my D620 test PC and a D630, and both went off without a problem. If drivers are needed, Dell's Vista ones will work fine. Only potential problem is older version of AV software or printers, but that is common for a new version of an OS, so it shouldn't be a big deal.
