I reinstalled Windows XP on a Vostro 1700. All is good but the WLAN Card does note show as a device. When installing the driver it comes up as "Device not found". It also does not show in devices under Mycomputer - Hardware. Any suggestions? WLAN worked well before the reinstall.

Have you checked to see if it's switched on. I'm not too sure how it is on your computer but there should be a Fn+ some key to turn the wireless function on and off. Usually after a reinstall it is switched off.
