nope, 100w cap will limit performance

edit: I validated that with an "out of box" thermal paste job

Put AC cooling under it and maybe that will be OK. 7700K doesn't need 100W for 5.0GHz, but both of mine only need like 1.260V for 5.0GHz. It peaks around 97W. At 5.2GHz it peaks out in the neighborhood of 126W with 1.320V.

Is it on stock paste or metal paste with Arctic/Fujipoly Thermal pads?
Try WinPE based ISO available on the internet, it is slimmest and bloatware-free windows. OC's more on WinPE, it is worth a check.

practical question. let's try to imagine that I bought a computer and I want to replace hard drive or ssd. especially if original configuration has raid 0 2*256 and I want to install 2*512. what is the right sequence for the backup and restore of the whole system on the new ssds starting from the first boot.

I'm not sure about disk backup on RAID, though you can try macrium reflect free or paid version to make a clone/image of both disk. You have to remember this includes your unique volume ID, after cloning simply click restore button and be sure to copy the exact partitions to new SSDs and automatically all your parity bit will be restored in correct order. You can ask Phoenix about this.

right. I saw it approximately like this. I already used macrium with a great success. but it was single ssd to ssd copy. not without problems - original ssd was slightly bigger than target ssd. but finally I did it. would be interesting to know is there any specific problems/tricks in the case of raid. and also again - what should be the correct sequence of actions starting from the moment when you clicked the power button first time. when you should start making copies and how.

I freeze when I see this nasty TRIPOD design. Same as going out in the coldest winter here home without clothes :) Intended for thin and slim. Right After Azor's textbook. I'm sure a Hell lots of the Aw owners hate this HS design!! And how many RMA has been done because of this ****y? 10-20 or 30%? And how many Aw owners have overheating problems with throttling in the end and expect it to work like this? And yooo bruh love this setup? You have a very good sense of humor :hi:

Expect everything all over again with next refresh. Not the first Dellbook with TRIPOD HS design. In the end they will save money on the "missing" 1 screw o_O And the outsourced Tech team Dell use, ain't very expensive for Dell. They know where they can cut costs.

Recently purchased an AW 17 R4 GTX1070, 6700hq, 120hz, gsync," geek-squad certified excellent open-box" from Best Buy for almost $1,300 (sale $1,194). The laptop sometime mute itself (no sound) even though it doesn't say muted whenever I load a game or youtube video. I have to click the mute button and unmute it to get it back working. Also, the back light keyboard was a little buggy (for example the backlight keyboard once turned on dim/didn't light through the whole keyboard and it one time reverted everything back to the default blue color when i configured everything to a different color). Playing games like FFXIV and Payday 2 causes the laptop to spike up to about 170s-180s F degree for the cpu while my gpu get about 160s. Came with a battery wear level of 5% (94.94WH now). Should I be worry or for this price for the laptop, I shouldn't worry much about it?

Cutting corners lead to big losses... All for a measly few cents of material at most?

The current variants got lucky with riding on the wave of luck due to it being fixable, but with work..

Haha 1080ti getting beat lol... Good stuff...

3DMark needs to exclude the GA benches from the mix of actual 7820HK / 1080.

They have it in the 1050 mobile category too...

So annoying to see GA 1080 scores in a 1050 bracket.

You've lucked out on the silicon. That's golden...

There needs to be an in chassis class and an out of chassis class. That'd be practical.

My silicon in-chassis so far allows 4.7GHz stable...

Curious what it'll do outside of its skin... For benches sake.... Eh why not. :p.

Dell isn't worried for losses But worried for component costs... Maybe use a few screws less aka a brand new TWOPOD will help on the cost issue

Im beating the **** out of the Strix using my FE + my own modded vBIOS, you can even use the XOC vBIOS but the card will need to be under water just to be safe.

Nope. But with the TDP unlocked and depending on if you got a good chip, you can easily do 2100mhz.
    Using XOC and 1.2v i can bench at 2200mhz + .
For day to day use XOC is kinda overkill.
I know it can be flashed on most EVGA cards, dunno about MSI.

    Hello everyone, noob here.

I noticed some fps drops in Battlegrounds and decided to look at the temps, this is the first time I'd bothered to check what they were reaching.

    Idle:

After half an hour of Battlegrounds:

Laptop is as it came from factory, no BIOS updates. Purchased in 2016. Is the BIOS update advised, should I bother?

I don't appear to be suffering from the temp differential in the CPU cores? I can see there are a number of things people can do to improve things (bent arms, voltage tweaks) but wanted to check that the only thing I needed to do was carry out the repasting / thermal padding as per:

    http://forum.notebookreview.com/thr...5r3-disassembly-repaste-guide-results.797373/

Is there a chance the repasting will introduce the temp differential issue if I don't have it already?

How important is it that I use the liquid metal and not a well reviewed thermal paste? Since I've moved to South America (no Amazon! Only the real Amazon) it's not going to be easy to find here. I walked into a shop today and showed a picture of thermal paste / this grizzly stuff and they tried to sell my a H100i.

Bios update will cripple performance to avoid overheating

Yes, because stock past is very very thick. Temp diff is low and global temps are high. But if the past is thinner, the core temp diff may increase as global temps decrease.

Liquid metal can be thicker on one side of the CPU and still be a good thermal bridge. Thermal past don't, its thickness must the same all over the CPU.
