    @ssj92 @iunlock

    I woke up this morning and turned on my Alienware Area-51m but I noticed that it was saying 30 mins to full charge while it was fully charged before I shut it down last night. I do have my USB Type-C hub connected to it along with my mouse, could that have drained the battery? how to prevent this? Do I need to disable the powershare option in BIOS?

    Same happened to me, it powered my notebook cooler fans and lights all night and drained some battery. Forgot which setting fixed this in the bios so I am interested to find out as well IMG_1597.jpg

    I think you've already answered your own question there, lol. Yeah USB PowerShare lets you charge USB devices like phones and what not. As to why a mouse would cause it to discharge though, I'm not sure...

    Unfortunately seems to be a common thing, my new Acer Triton 500 did the same, had an USB hub connected and overnight it slightly drained the battery.

    So final settings and temps below, if this ok for stock paste and balanced fan mode ?

    9700k 5ghz -130mv , max temp in gaming after an hour is 92C peak. At 4.8ghz the peak is 83C.

    2080 +165/+800 max temp is 84C peak at full load gaming

    I had two 51m’s, first one had the AUO panel and my current has the LG panel, both had no backlight bleed, surprisingly

    It's a matter of luck but it's much better than previous Alienware Models.

    I bought an Alienware Area-51m 3 days ago which I returned because one of the keys popped out (the U Key) and that unit had very little light bleed in the bottom of the screen, like so tiny you can't even notice it.

    Then the replacement I got which was actually a display unit had 0 light bleed.

    The AUO and lg panels look identical to me, I couldn’t catch a difference. Same brightness and colors. I’m very ocd about my panels too so I’m shocked they matched them so well between two different manufacturers

    So I've FINALLY had some time to tinker. There have been so many pages of posts, I'd love it if some people were willing to share their CPU UV on the 9900k and what temps/scores they were getting.

    Still stock paste. No de-lid. Stock 2080 on the 200w vbios (I think... any way to check that it stuck)?

    I had been pretty happy with my temps in games. But last night after about 1hr of R6: Siege, I checked HWInfo and it said I hit 99c on a few cores. Surprisinging, as it normally hovers around 79-82 c after ~30/40 minutes. So this morning I tinkered with TS some more. Haven't touched Afterburner, yet.

    With a -125 I'm stable after two FireStrike runs, and 5 minutes of AIDA64. It's not much, but at least it isn't instant blue screens. I'll test more tonight. BUT! Temps are WAY better. Zero throttling in AIDA64 after five minutes, and temps hovered around 80c. Temps hit 100c INSTANTLY when stock. FireStrike, temps never went above 75c on two runs, balanced fans.

    Thoughts?

    [IMG]

    [IMG]

    [IMG]

    Obviously MUCH more tinkering to come, and who knows how stable this'll be if I run these things for ~30 minutes or play games for an hour or two...

    Just ran TimeSpy where I had my temps to compare to.

    Stock voltage: 79-84 across cores; 125UV 68-70 across all cores. Way better!

    probably less CPU usage but look at the overall bar, no throttling.

    If it was throttling you would see that bar like a zig zag :confused:

    BIOS = 1.3.2
    VBIOS = The stock 190W I didn't upgrade to the 200W VBIOS

    BIOS Options:

    CPU Performance = Disabled
    Fan Performance = Disabled

    all stock bro

    Oh, in nVIDIA Control Panel, I changed the power management from Optimal to

    Right click on your desktop then choose nVIDIA Control Panel. Go to Manage 3D Settings from the left pane, then scroll down a bit until you see power management. If you see it's set to OPTIMAL which is the default setting when you install a driver. That's your issue.

    Optimal Power means when there is no draw on the screen, the GPU clock speeds is set 0 MHz to save power and then ramps up once it needs to. Sounds great on paper, works like crap. This is the number one reason why anyone might experience crappy performance from their nVIDIA GPU. What's worse, is that's the default setting in the nVIDIA Control Panel after you install a new driver often leading people to blame the driver for bad performance when it's just the fault of nVIDIA's clowns.

    Set the power management to Adaptive which puts the GPU at lower clock speeds when no GPU intensive apps are in use and it would ramp the clocks up when needed. That actually works. It's the best balance between getting lower heat from the GPU and good performance in games.

    When benchmarking, for the optimal results, it's best to set the power management to High Performance.

    Mind you, after you change the power management to whatever you set it to, a reboot is mandatory for the new clocks to take effect.

    Shouldn't throttling at 91C :) Only MSI GS models and some others have put BD PROCHOT at 90C or lower.

    That's not throttling. Probably a low CPU usage dip and since I'm on the balanced Power Plan in Windows and not the High Performance, that is perfectly normal.

    Found it Ultra Male, its Battery Assist Configuration issue, use 100% battery because setting it to Primarily AC usage will drain battery suddenly and its just a rip-off version from XPS which is buggy and causes hardware/battery degradation in the long run, say 2 yrs+.
    Also, disable Intel SGX completely for improved security to counter Spectre and Spoiler like exploits.

    ohh I thought setting it to Primarily use AC Adapter will limit how much the battery is charged to not overcharge it and make it deteriorate in performance with time but from what I am seeing in the taskbar power icon, it says 100% charged not like in MSI laptops or Clevo where it limits it to 94% (not charging)

    There is another option called Adaptive I might try that.

    I got 2 Dell inspirons for servicing and forgot to attach AC adapter and it was running on battery for an hour and wear level went from 0 to 10%. I switched to 100% charge and a full drain brought it to 3%. Uninstalled Dell Command center as well.

    I meant for your overall FireStrike Score. Now it makes sense why your score is higher than mine because of your slightly increased CPU clock speed. I'll try that later.

    I noticed this finally too. The left USB port stayed on even after turning it off. Haven't looked at BIOS yet but I do think it was powershare.

    Sounds like for gaming 4.8Ghz is perfect. Lower temps and similar performance.

    Is this undervolted?

    On mine under full speed or performance fans, it doesn't seem to "throttle" the clocks until like 87C or so. Somewhere in the 80s. I was kinda surprised.

    How high can your GPU overclock?

    My 25k benchmark was done at 5.2 with 1.35v and +180/+1500
