I’ll have no choice but to just stay away from Alienware. I called HID and they even said they don’t have any stock and it would take weeks. Can’t wait that long so I’ll just take my money back and leave it in the bank. It’s very irritating...

Thanks for the heads up! I'll purchase them today as they're going to take a couple weeks to get to me.

Worthless but that's how it goes with big companies, they don't give a damn about a single complaint.

I think for a product like this they should have kept some stock reserved for returns. They are losing loyal enthusiasts like you and many others like this :/

Yeah it’s very disappointing. They think we all have unlimited time. They take your money instantly but when it comes time to get a replacement or help it’s very slow, and in most cases, a bunch of lies and false promises. Now I remember why I always go back to my desktop rig. Built by me, works, and I am my own support

So did anyone try the Vindicator 17 backpack? Does it fit the Area-51m or is it too tight. I kinda like the Vindicator more than the Elite backpack, The latter is not to Alieny for me

I’ve been looking for laptop desk or break down desk with table top customized with hole cut from desk where vents are and fans installed to pull air under desk to laptop

    Anyone else done this custom?

Like cut out on something similar to this

I remember reading posts that it will fit but it's tight, so there isn't 100% padding protection for the edges.

My faith in dell has made a big turnaround. They offered to give me an upgrade from the 9700k to the 9900k and told me they would have it shipped by May 7th. Definitely a nice upgrade and I took it.

Customer support of every large company has dropped it seems. They are constantly chasing profits over customer satisfaction. So they outsource support and logistics to even cheaper solutions. They lose a bunch of enthusiasts but they turn a blind eye because in the end they squeeze out higher margins when all is said and done.

Just another symptom of late-stage capitalism. And poor customer support is really one of the least of our problems coming in the next few years:

Latest update: One of my RAM sticks is dead. I was using Corsair Vengeance 16GB x 4 for the last 2 years with my MSI GT75 Titan which I then ported over to this laptop. It has always been flaky to pick them all up at first go but it eventually did after a few failed tries. Now, it has completely killed off one of them. I managed to pin point the dead module after repeated trials and errors. Not sure if it's the age that got to the RAM or it had anything to do with the motherboard itself. I have pulled all of the remaining ram from it and now it's just running on what it came with from the factory. I will try the supposedly dead module in another computer to see if it's really dead or it's just having issues with this particular machine for some unknown reason. Very bizarre.

Many memory manufacturers deliver lifetime warranty on their sticks. Not normal that they being killed like this after only 2 years use.

I did order from them earlier but they've no clue when Dell will stock their inventory. In fact, they've not received a single Area 51m since launch. I ended up waiting for weeks and then finally canceled the order.
Now, waiting for Hidevolution to deliver the product. Also, Hidevolution is giving 2 years premium warranty rather than 1 year from Xotic which make the price difference negligible between the two companies. HID at least delivers the system, albeit they end up burning out, Xotic has no clue if they'll even see an Area 51m.
I will try this System once, whatever it takes, will try to take good care of it like my M17xR3, if it ends up turning out to be a lemon, I might wanna try the new Razer Blade Pro 17. I've never owned a thin and light gaming system so got to do that at least once just to see what the fanboys are on about.

@iunlock Can you send me screenshots of all TS pages with overclock settings for the 51m, this would be my first time using the app, so need to see how yours is setup . Thank you

Had issues with AW Oc controls giving an install error and even after trying to remove AWCC and all other associate programs and deleting registry entry and reinstalling , Oc control just doesn’t want to install . Reading the forum, seems it’s advisable not to even bother installing it

Yes I've claimed warranty from Corsair as this stick had lifetime warranty. But considering that there are so many issues going on with this motherboard, I wouldn't be surprised that this thing killed my RAM although nothing can be said for certain at this point.

Super stoked, I just ordered a 9700k + rtx2060, 144hz Lunar Light straight from Dell. I don't mind the weak GPU, at least it will run cool, a video on youtube shows this setup running consistently at CPU 60-65c and 50-55c GPU during BF5, not even re-pasted, and that's with the GPU overclocked core 150mhz/200mhz mem and CPU at full core boost (4.6ghz). I can't stand loud fans so with these temps the fans should stay in the 30dB range which I can handle.

Nice, you'll enjoy it. Fans aren't loud at all unless you run on performance or full speed. I run my 2070 on balanced while gaming and I never hear them, and temps are very low.

Sounds like another dead machine. You're pretty much SOL unfortunately.

Call dell/alienware asap and ask for a replacement.

As has been said, get onto Dell and get them to sort it ASAP. Good luck!!

Sharp eye ! which picture ?! you got me interested. If i have a picture to put them side by side, i'll gladly call out Azor to check what is going on. I'm still not 100% on the fence for this machine, but seeing it fail isn't good either cause it could be my potential next machine (or i'll get an Prema supported laptop). Seeing @iunlock @captn.ko @Rocktaze them score's proves it has potential, but seeing machine's burn up looks like it's performing out of it's leauge (when it's components keep failing)

I couldn't spot any resistor differences, If you mean the R005 chips at the top, the difference is purely cosmetic, also the different numbers below the chips marked 470 are probably just batch numbers.

An actual change in the last two photo's is the 6 Mosfet Driver chips (the black squares) from NCP 303151 to NCP 303150, and they are the backbone of the power supply for the GPU. Can only be certain about the top 3 being changed due to the photo lacking details in the bottom, but it's likely all 6 have been changed.

I also noticed the mosfets, but wasn't sure it was a different (maybe due the lighting). Will add that also.

    Edit:

I think they did change the resistor up too. It took me some searching but this is what i could find about the R095 resistor:

Hi, not sure, if it has already been answered... Can someone tell me, if there is another Manufacter for the 144Hz Sreen? I don`t like the LG Philips Panel, since it has a bad contrast ratio in my eyes. But nevertheless its kind of a gamble to get the right Panel, if there are other Manufacterers o_O

I've never had as much problem with support as I'm having with dell and hid, I'm still out of my country, hidevolution still has a return policy that only benefits itself, sad to see it

My laptop was one of those that died, but I got my replacement a week ago. Since then, I've been testing it. Last time, the machine died about 30 minutes into the Division 2. This time, I've played about 15 hours and it seems to be holding up; no smoke... yet (hopefully I didn't jinx it).

One thing I have noticed is that the GPU temps seem a little high. On the Balance or Performance profiles, I get about 86 degrees on the RTX 2080 for Ultra settings on Division 2. It only drops to 79 - 82ish on Full Performance. Rocket League is good at around high 60's to low 70's on Balance or Performance. Fortnite runs surprisingly hot too, with Balance or Performance reaching low 80's on Ultra. CPU temps on the 9900K are fine; I have it undervolted at 5Ghz. Before I did a repaste, the GPU temps were even a tad bit higher.

I recall my previous one getting high 70's - low 80's on Division 2 on Balance or Performance, but then again it died so maybe it wasn't being all that accurate.

Only LG and AUO. I've had both, cant really see much difference tbh.

I think my wife's has the LG and mine has AUO, but my first one had LG, replacement came with AUO.

I'll look at them side by side tomorrow and see if I can actually see a difference.
