pretty much any game will be cpu bottlenecked at 1080P with a 2080 overclocked, also notice how the CPU power goes up

Area51 at this moment can only do 2400 regardless if you put 2666 or higher it down clocks to 2400. Nothing but the best for us high end customers.

If you've been reading this entire thread, you'd know by now that there is BIOS limitation that only allows the RAM to run at a maximum or 2400 Mhz. I also have the 2666 MHz. RAM from DELL in my system and it only runs @ 2400 MHz. I tweeted my concern to Frank Azor on his Twitter account and he promised that they will work on an updated BIOS that'll support 2666 MHz. Take that with a grain of salt because after 2 weeks, a new BIOS was released (v1.5.0) and the RAM is still limited to 2400 MHz.

I would not take it with a grain just because they have not fixed it as of now.
I'd rather them take their time than push out a BIOS that fixes one thing but breaks something else.

    Where are you from?

They’ve shipped mine with Dell memory and Toshiba m.2... how good is their memory? I’ll most likely sell the memory and both m.2 on ebay...

They use Samsung and Micron memory, haven't seen Hynix on the 51m yet.

SSDs they usually use OEM Toshiba drives.

My Alienware Area-51m Originally came with Kingston KCRXJ6-MIE 64GB 2666 MHz DDR4 RAM then I upgraded it to the Samsung M471A4G43MB1 128GB 2666 MHz DDR4 RAM but yeah I haven't seen Hynic on the Area-51m as well. Seen on the m15 though.

Zero, one small thing I noticed, when I had 64 GB. In the system properties it showed (64 GB, 63.8 GB Usable) but now it shows (128GB (128GB usable). Very weird but who cares.

I didn't even have to install them one by one. I installed all the 4 SODIMMs together and when I booted, the system took longer to boot then I got a message from BIOS that the system memory capacity has been changed. Nothing else to do.

Yes. Much more convenient for when taking it on the road. I would get one if I had an Alienware Area-51M. But I would not pay that price as I have known it was cheaper before the price hike.

Edited: this is the one for Alienware

    https://www.ebay.com/itm/780-Watt-AC-Adapter-110V-250V-for-Alienware-Notebooks-/113255526244

Does the Area-51M use the same power connector as MSI ? One or the other lol. BUt Still expensive ..lol

Yes, stupid price. Max I would pay is $400. Not to mention long term reliability and not killing the laptop.

Their's cant burn, it doesn't have high octane parts, invariably no key-caps can fly due to less internal combustion of MSI...............lol

My HWINFO doesnt have purple line, which version are u using, did u adjust anything to have that portion show, although my dual adapter shows 660w from bios cant see it in HW

Actually, my original 51m came with Kingston as well, but my replacement is Hynix. The specs in HWinfo are exactly the same, and they even look exactly the same. I'm currently using it along with 32 GB of T-Force Vulcan

Try reset preferences. Or and test with either Hwinfo Settings to disable/enable EC support (look into Safety tab in settings).

Is this one confirmed as good for Area 51m? I sent the seller a message just in case, but no response yet.

Eurocom quoted me $769 for the same item, so I want to make sure.

so the 780W eurocom PSU does manage to disguise itself as dell 2x330W PSU. What have they changed to allow this? previous users tested the same PSU result in failure to detect.

can you also show us a screen shot of the BIOS menu that detects the PSU? thanks

No I think the bios is locked to 660 max.

I am calling Eurocom tomorrow and asking for a shorter cable, I think 3 foot from adapter and another 12 inches from adapter to plugs would be perfect, right now its crazy long.

Also when the fan kicks in even though its brief it is a little loud, only like 2 second burst.

they just added an adapter with two plugs, as the bios needs to see 2 psu.
Bios shows exact same reading of 660.

Just wondering, why are you guys trying third party PSUs when they really are not needed? Unless it's a compulsive shopping spree of some kind.

I use Anker BT speakers for 28 bucks a piece. Beats the hell out of every laptop speaker out there, hands down! :p
    https://www.amazon.com/Anker-SoundCore-Playtime-Bluetooth-Portable/dp/B016XTADG2/ref=sr_1_3?crid=1NK1X50SISHNN&keywords=anker+speaker+bluetooth&qid=1557112188&s=gateway&sprefix=anker+speaker,aps,378&sr=8-3

While gaming though, I use my Sony WH-1000XM3s. Seldom use laptop's own speakers.

Damn guys, my order status in Hidevolution has stayed as "payment received" since 2nd May and this wait is killing me. :)
If you have previous experiences with this, can you please tell me when can I expect the order status to change? Considering I'm based in Dubai, by what date can I realistically expect the system?
    Thanks

If I am on the go and frequent places that have limited number of outlets, I prefer using the least amount of possible outlets as much as possible.
