The 8% was through my company, not a cashback site. Going through my companies portal I got an additional 2% off from Dell, and then 8% cashback from my company. I forgot about the 3% I got back from Dell as well for being a member. So, I got: 17% off right away + 8% cashback through my company and 3% cashback from Dell. Very happy now even if it means I’m getting the laptop a week later than I would have.

Yes +175 on the core and +200 on memory. I just used the Alienware Command Center that comes preinstalled on the laptop. No voltage changes.

Yes that's exactly what is happening. It's sad that we have to wait for new 4k display to come out . because this machine will kill in 4k .

I just want to say thank you so much for that 15% code. I just sent back an m15 due to thermal related issues and that code made a 2070 a51m an even trade. I was just going through comments for what other people have been doing with it.

    Hello guys,

Anyone purchased with 1 year Accidental Damage Protection. It's £20 for a year in the UK. Seems very much worth it! What's the catch?

    So far, it's not good.

Nvidia is refusing to help. They said it's 100% on Dell. they have to give us the code.
    No code - No game.

As for Dell, I'm in touch with 2 person right now and i'm being told they are not offering the promotion at all.
So i doubt we will get any free games.

I am excited. Was on the fence about buying area 51m. 15% deal sealed it for me. Ordered one today.

I previously bought asus G703gx (i7-8750H/RTX 2080) due to cheaper price than area 51m. That was a great laptop but screen bleed was just too much to bear. Even the exchange model had bad screen bleed. Great timing that I had 15% off to jump onto area 51m. Can’t wait

Sorry for the late reply. The reason is that the computer gets so physically hot on the surface that it becomes uncomfortable to use. The top left of the keyboard, specifically the number keys and the QWER area literally burns my fingers. The solution is to set the cooler boost profile for the fan speeds, but the fans are so high pitched that it's like someone next to you reenacting the scene from dumb and dumber "Hey! Do you want to hear the most annoying sound in the world?"

I agree with this. Fan noise (portable jet engines more like), burning keyboards (over 50C), awkward sitting/typing position, crappy screens - all these things affect you immediately before start worrying about 100 points in Cinebench!

Why the heck would you want that atrocity!? It made the AWs unusable in anything but a poorly lit room. Any direct light was reflected, and it also dimmed the true brightness value of the panel.

A full modern glass panel would be good for that. (Think touchscreen)

Those AW plexyglass panels where the worst part of those laptops. I loved my m17x except for that plexyglass cover. They had a gap between them and the screen, which also made viewing angles not good. They did nothing for colors. That is just the glossy panel underneath.

Coz that's what comes stock and it has a Killer Ethernet so even if I have the Intel 9260 to avoid having the Windows store install the Killer Performance suite, it will still do that due to the presence of the Killer E3000 LAN so no point in swapping out anything. I will get rid of that garbage app and all its remnants manually. I hope Killer shuts down and saves us from their bloatware for good!

you ordered way before me, they won't receive my machine before the 19-20th of March then probably another 10 days for me to get it in hand here in Dubai when you add in the time HIDevolution will take to build it along with the upgrades that I chose, test it, etc.

This is psychological torture at its best, seeing all these nice results from others but we can't play

So, with my Dell order yesterday... how bogus is my 3/14-3/19 Express Delivery estimate?

Sounds like there's zero chance I'm getting this in the next two weeks if people who are a week into their orders still haven't even received build notifications.

    EDIT: Also...

Silicon Lottery will de-lid my own 9900K for like $50 in like five days. I didn't realize that.

Does this void my warranty with Dell? Should only void the warranty of the CPU itself, correct, since the system is upgradeable/replaceable. Is there any chance of the conductuant they use in the de-lidding process leaking out in a laptop?

I tried mem already, mine artifacts and crashes at +400, +200 works fine though.

Think getting it colder than 50C will help? It already runs quite cool with max fans.

My 8GB ram (2x4GB) is by Kingston. (Dell OEM config)

My AW13 R3 had it, and it was beautiful. Doubtful on the Area-51M though

I would have preferred the other way around :(

I’ll have to compensate my GPU score by increasing CPU score. :D

Is Samsung the only memory manufacturer for these? I’ll check when I’m home which memory mine has.

    +400 was 7400Mhz

    I need +1000 for 8000Mhz

I’ll have to double check when I’m home

Thanks a lot for the detailed pics of the panel assembly; if you are taking the 51m apart would be great if you could share more internal pics or even a video if possible.

Did you try if the 4k panel from the 17r4 would fit into the 51m and possibly work?

It seems insane that Alienware would limit the 51m to FHD when the 4k panels are nearly identical and Frank Azor keeps saying we need to wait until end of 2019 for compatible panels to be manufactured.

Really want to get the Area-51m and the wait for 1440p or 4k display options is killing me.

For what it’s worth, and I don’t say this lightly... the 1080p on the 51m I saw at MicroCenter was exceptional. It’ll treat me 100% fine when gaming on the go. At home, where it sits 95% of the time, I’m plugged into a 165hz 1440p.

I’d love 1440p/120hz on the panel more than 1080, sure. But I’d pick this over 4K/60 ten times out of ten. Who knows what we’ll get late this year.
