Thank you omnipotent laptop god. May your wisdom free the humanity from suffering.

I think mine has a different model number then the one shown on panelook…
I‘ve confronted now DELL with repairing the screen properly or if it’s not possible then i‘ll switch to the X17.

You should do it. Your experience with the A51mR2 that you managed to purchase this late in the game makes me think you got one of their units that had already been returned one or more times and which probably had already caused problems for other people.

I would take that X17 and get an extended warranty and forget about it.

Try to negotiate. Escalade is the magic word with Dell.

They shouldn't ask you for 200$ on top of that! It's against their policy. They should replace for same or better parts but never ask for more money.

The X17 has a futur with parts (5 years max) . Our R2 has reach it's end of life as soon as it breaks.

Take 4 years extended warranty. Beat the hell out of it. When it breaks in 2 years you'll have the x17 R4.

    Good luck.

There was no need for this comment sir.
You have to learn not to take everything as in insults when people have a different opinion. You have some good knowledge on many things but you have to keep an open mind that you might be wrong somtimes or simply that people will have a different opinion, and learn from others as much as others learn from you. Sharing knowledge in a pacific way.
    Also
I have to thank you for the help with the CPU fan. You told me to put some WD40 on the corrector to fix the CPU fan not responding and since i done that (3 weeks) no more issue. Seems you were right!

people, do you think it's worth extending the premium support, for a year, for a price of €205? this is what Dell has proposed to me, I don't know what to do.

I extended the warranty on my A51mR2 just about two weeks ago; Dell charged me $239.00 to extend the Premium Onsite Support an extra year so it sounds like they want about the exact same thing from you in euros...

It was worth it to me because I'll be happy if my A51mR2 lasts that long and I'll be satisfied if it breaks before then and is replaced by an equally capable machine. They offered to extend it thru 2026 but I declined since I'll upgrade by then, anyway.

Just for comparison ... I also extended the warranty on my AW38" monitor but chose to extend it thru 2026 as I'm sure I'll want the monitor longer. It was only $125.00 for a two year extension on the monitor though because it's just "Basic" coverage ... stand alone monitors being treated differently than a laptop, apparently.

    Best of luck...

No need for premium. Take basic 4 year.
I paid 500$ can for that twice. They wanted 900$. I negotiated.

With alienware, you need extended warranty since most of their parts are listed as: NOT FOR SALE
