hello everyone, today i replaced my QHD TN with an IPS 120hz FHD ( b173han01.1 ) and it works flawlessly without nvidia drivers installed but I when install them, the screen immediately goes dim I cant play or what videos and g-sync is gone too but this screen supports g-sync(((
-
Have you checked the brightness level after swapping out the display?
Which version of Nvidia driver you used? -
Its the latest nvidia driver, I have found out the issue, when i go to device manager on that display events tab it says device is not migrated.
-
Have you Windows Update to do auto updates? If so, disconnect from internet and retry the driver in device manager.
Right ur GPU then click Update Driver, Choose Manually browse for driver and hit next until the driver install progresses. -
Dude its the monitor not the GPU.
-
Try the calibration file of Asus for the same panel https://www.notebookcheck.net/uploads/tx_nbc2/G701.icm
-
Will the calibration somehow make it work ? The G-sync is not showin in nvidia while it should , It means I have no control over the screen what so ever so I believe I need to have some sort of driver to make it work calibration will only fix the colors , I saying this because If I want to do this I would have to open my laptop again and disemble the panel and put the other one.
-
Did you get GSync cerification symbol on your Display packaging? See this thread AW17 R4 - 4K Screen Design Fault???
-
Which one is the g-sync certification symbol ?
-
I Believe I have it , The weird thing is that when im in boot menu I selected Dinaostics option and tested the screen its so bright and it showed the colors in the test but at the moment it loads the system it suddenly goes dark
-
Have you checked if the LCD cables are secured correctly?
-
Yes im pretty sure if not it wouldnt work, and when I deleted the nvidia graphics driver the brightness went to highest but I couldnt control it too so I think it needs driver support -
Well that's certainly odd. Can you post ur Specs please?
-
I told u there is an error how come its odd ? Did u try that display ?
Alienware 17r4
6700hq
Gtx 1070
Qhd Tn g-sync
16gb ram -
Do you remember seeing Intel graphics driver in stock OS provided by Dell?
-
No I cant even install it
-
Can you open NVidia Control Panel in dim lit screen? If so, Check GSYNC settings.
-
There is no g-sync option in that screen dude it doesnt even work like I told u there is an error prevent it to be functional -
Ill try to install Intel graphics from dell website although im pretty sure it will be useless , im heading home to try it out now plz gather all the possible solutions so I can work this out.
-
https://docs.microsoft.com/en-us/windows-hardware/drivers/display/overriding-monitor-edids
I think this might help with my issue although I dont really know how to use this -
@Mobius 1: Can you figure what this issue this? OP replaced the stock 120Hz TN 3K Gysnc panel on skylake 6700HQ 1070 GTX with b173han01.1 120Hz IPS 3K display. Some issues he faced that brightness won't adjust, its dim and under device manager > Monitor> Windows says the driver isn't migrated.
-
I think I have found a solution if u could help me with it I would really really appreciate coz the steps r way too hard for meVasudev likes this.
-
plz take a look at this im pretty sure this one will work !
https://forums.geforce.com/default/...and-refresh-rate-fixed-and-new-lcd-added-33-/Vasudev likes this. -
Maybe its blacklisting your monitor maybe because the screen isn't certified, yeah edid trick in nv display inf could work.
-
Could u please explain to me how to do it ?
-
%X20WGNAGA%=X20WGNAGA.Install, Monitor\SPT2091 - again follow the syntax as all the others do. You can get the information in this line from the monitor.inf file in WinXP or your OEM .inf file
I reached this step I know my monitor is AUO119D but how do I get %X20WGNAGA% for my monitor ? it seems different for each monitor so how do I find whats mine ? for his monitor its %X20WGNAGA% and for acer monitor its %7155%=7155, Monitor\API0037 how do i figure out whats mine ? -
Use HWINFO to check monitor name.
-
Its not the serial number ? Its B173HAN01.1 ?
-
I only modified the monitor inf , didnt modify the nv file is that ok ?
-
It says cannot install the specified file
-
Give a screenshot of nvidia Control Panel.

just uploaded it look it up
-
Do you have discrete gpu switch say Fn +f7?
-
Yes doesnt change a thing , and I cannot install the monitor inf file....
-
In NVidia control panel, navigate to 3d settings. Under that, select manage 3d settings, scroll down until you see Vsync option. Click on the drop down list and see if GYSNC option is available, if so go to device manager > Monitor > Update driver > Select manual driver update and click browse for driver manually, click next and let it install the default monitor profile once again. Let me know the results.
-
Dude this is the 100time I told u g-sync is not there because the monitor itself isnt functional at all.
-
Okay got it. No GYSNC.
As for the monitor hack you might have to add
%AUO% in the list in monitor.inf I'm not so sure if the inf actually see the model number of the screen or serial number or even tied with the devID of GTX 1070. I'll do a quick search today morning since it is 1 am here. -
I did everything but the problem is with updating it says Windows encoutered a problem installing the drivers for your device.
-
Did you get any kind of error codes?
-
Nop.
-
You might try by disabling signature enforcement
-
Yeap this is an EDID Mismatch issue.
Only way i know of solving this is editing the EDID in the panels firmware. @t456 -
Plz tell me how to fix this pllllz I have been doing research for 3 days couldnt get it to work yet
I hate my life.
-
D
Didnt work........
((((((
-
@bloodhawk: Can MonInfo generate new modded inf for monitors?
-
the new asus g701vi have the same display do u think they could help with the EDID ?
-
@ashknani: Try MonInfo and open the program after install.
Click on File -> Generate INF file for your screen and save it on desktop. Install the new modded inf using Device Manager.
Few years ago, the acer monitor on my desktop won't recognise in Win Xp or Win 7, then I went Acer's website to download the monitor.inf and also color profile and the issue with massive screen blur at native res. of 1366 x 768px was fixed. Well, it was few years ago.
I won't promise anything but its worth a shot. -
You could ask their monitor.inf file using MonInfo, I think it will work. Not so sure about GSYNC though.
-
I think g-sync will work but r u sure that the monitor inf will fix the edid problem ?
replaced my screen now its dim help plz :( , help fix edid
