When I open the moninfo there is several stuff like AUO119D real-time or Registry active or Registry so which one I need ?
-
Choose real time since you have issues with default Windows monitor inf file.
-
@ashknani Did it work?
-
Im still looking for asus monitor info I dont want to swap the monitor for the seventh time and be disspointed
-
u dont know anyone who has that ? coz no one from asus forum is replying.
-
You need the Alienware EDID not ASUS. Any other EDID other than what comes from a similar Alienware display will be useless.
-
What about if I could get the monitor .inf from a working asus g701vi with the same display will that make it work on my laptop ?
-
Lets assume I got that what then ? How could I apply that EDID to that panel ? I assume I need to have some special hardware ?
-
Nope. Because the Panel right now does not have the right information, it will be the same with the ASUS panel.
-
No you can do it using a Linux live boot.
Search the forum for the EDID corruption issue, you can edit it using the same method that is used by that fix.Vasudev likes this. -
Do u know someone who could help me with this ? I'd pay for him if he could make it work.
-
-
wait does this mean I could copy the edid from my current QHD monitor to that one and it will fix it ?
-
No you, need the one from from the same panel that shipped from Dell.
It can work, but that needs way more technical work and hardware. -
Is it this one? https://github.com/bulletmark/edid-rw
-
Yes but the thing is Dell dont have this display on their laptops.
I bought it from ebay thinking it would work. -
I found two apps that work on windows AW edid editor and phoenix edid designer u think those will help ?
-
Might be, im not sure since i have never done it using software.
Well then you will need to understand how to spoof the EDID to one that will work. Or check with the member i mentioned earlier. -
DO NOT TRY THIS IN WINDOWS. Every single time i have heard people with AW's try this in Windows have bricked their LCD's.
And dont event think about trying this without knowing exactly what you are doing.
OR
Just use your QHD display. If you have the pixel pitch problem, then just have Dell replace it to the 01.4 panel. -
I have the new AUO1496 model and I hate it the blacks r way too bad plus the banding crap when I go into a dark place it shows up like a black smoke makes the gaming experience horrible.
-
I doubt that member will reply to me he seems very busy..
-
The OP got it from eBay.
You could try returning if its within return window. -
If you have banding issues, dell will replace the panel.
-
Whats the exact Panel model ? Like B173QTNXX.X..
-
He will reply, just need to be patient, because as you said. Hes very busy.
-
They already replaced the first one which was AUO1096 to AUO1496 and I still have the same issue.
-
It only says B173QTN in hwinfo.
-
Im looking for something like this -
Or just paste the results from MonInfo. -
The text, not an image man. Just copy the text in the right side pane and paste it in a spoiler.
-
Monitor Name (Manuf): B173QTN [DELL P/N: JYWWF
here from hwinfo -
*sigh*
Either ways, its the updated QHD.
If you really want good blacks / contrasts and colors. You are better off asking dell to swap that LCD out for a FHD IPS or the UHD 4k.
Tell them you have banding issues or whatever.Vasudev likes this. -
But I like the 120hz and g-sync so much , if only I could fix that 120hz ips display I would have the best laptop in the world
its so gorgeous when the brightness at its highest.
-
Well getting that aftermarket panel to work properly wont be easy. Without the right know how.Vasudev likes this.

The guy u mentioned he is a masterpiece right ?

When putting non-standard displays in laptops it's often necessary to manually enable brightness control in the windows registry. The dword you need to add is EnableBrightnessControl and set it to 1. The location is
-
Yes, hes one of the better persons to ask about Laptop LCD's and their firmwares.
Try this -
-
Where is the location ?
-
Check with @Khenglish

Sorry, this website does not work well on my phone. I'm trying to get the text in.
-
Could u please hurry up.
-
Whats the rush dude?
First thing, people are trying to help you out. Second, if this is so inconvenient to you, just switch back to the old panel.
Either ways im out. Hope you get this sorted.Paull likes this. -
Coz I have been looking for the solution for three days im so excited to try it o.o ?
-
When putting a non-standard display in a laptop with an Nvidia gpu it is often necessary to manually enable brightness control in the Windows registry.
The location it goes in is
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\ControlSet001\Control\Class\...
From the Class folder search for your GPU name, for example "980m", and you should end up in a folder called 0000, 0001, 0002, etc with a bunch of keys like EnableDpLibrary and EnableCoprocPowerControl.
The DWORD you want to add is the following:
EnableBrightnessControl
After creating it set it equal to 1.
Gotta disable javascript for this website.
Also telling me to hurry up made me not log in from my work laptop to post this half an hour ago. -
Im sorry if u felt offended I didnt mean it that way I was only excited and it didnt work.
-
Was the entry already present?
You need to restart the computer after adding it. After the restart you can use the display brightness sliders in Windows. The default brightness will still be low. -
No it wasnt present and yes I restarted and tried to increase or decrease it still wont work
