Can't see it being very effective. You are better off looking for something smaller. Most of the air runs at the outer edges.

You have a point.Would the NotePal A1 be more suited then since its smaller? What would you suggest otherwise?

The Notepal D1 should do the job.

Thanks I'll consider that.I would prefer a cooler that can be used on my lap and supports the whole laptop though that's why I was looking at the notepal infinite or A1.Is there any you can recommend other than the cooler master series for the Vaio SR?

I just recieved my Notepad Infinite w/ 4 USB ports, at first I thought that the cooler 'blew' air from under the laptop. When I put it in use, the cooler pulls in air and keeps it in the 'infinite' (Middle section) of the cooler. As the laptop gets hotter, the laptop's fans will want to spin faster and draw more air in.

Basically, the 'cooling air' is stored in the cooler's infinite-shaped section to be used by the laptop. It's not very effective when idling (Unless your computer has high idle temperatures, and it's fans run at full speed). For games however (I am a laptop gamer, didn't want to spend too much to get the Xyro or w/e it is.) it works like a charm :).

I'd give it a 4/5, I am just a little bit disappointed that it doesn't actually blow any air onto the laptop.

EDIT: Oh! And my laptop is a Toshiba P300 Q01 (Australia). The P305's are the same but american.

Huh? Unless your's isn't working the way it should, everyone I have used/seen blew air upwards, that includes the one in this review.

If it does blow upwards, my hand's aren't really feeling it.

you can try to place a thin strip of paper on top to visually check the airflow

    Yep

Also, I have the silver-white 4 usb hub version - The USB hub doesn't seem to work. When I plug in the USB cord (of the cooler), it says 'Device not recognized'.

Hmm, the notepal is getting better :).

My Max temps (Whilst playing Modern Warfare 2) went from:
    CPU: 92 down to 73
    GPU: 104 down to 88

Pretty happy with it :) (By the way, this is in Centigrade)

Hej I`ve got MSi GX 620 below is the picture of the laptop`s bottom side
    http://forum.pccentre.pl/uploads//1245342484/med_gallery_6789_301_49598.jpg

The main vent is on the upper left side of the picture.
Does the C.m. Notepal Infinite suits well for this notebook or should I choose the Zalman NC1500. On of the Infinite`s pros is the fact that it can be used on surfaces other than a desk. Zalman have the fan vent on the bottom side so it`s hard to keep it on knees.

It should work fine. Note that anything down the center will not be cooled. It should work fine for lap use.

The NC1500 will do a better job at cooling the other components that does use the active cooling system in your notebook (CPU/GPU). The notepal would aid the main air in vent for the cooling system whilst still being able to cool the HDD. To be fair you have a nice notebook that either cooler will work well with. :) Of course other pros and cons includes: Notepal is cheaper, but the NC1500 is quieter.

I`ve bought Zalman NC1500. Cooler Master was too "plastic" for me. But...One of the vents in Zalman NC1500 is making a weird rattling sound. In the shop they told me that the`ve tested other Zalman products (like NC2000, Nc1000) and they have the same sound of working fan blades. I don`t know what to think abou this. What`re you thinking Johnny T? I think that it isn`t normal working sound.

I haven't seen that particular model myself, though from X2P's reviews I haven't heard of such an issue. You should be able to find his review in the notebook cooler's guide.

You might have to move the laptop alittle so the main vent is completely covered by the air flow. Otherwise, it should help. How long have you had it for?

Stat with post #238 and read on. :) That studio 15 talked about have an identical chassis, so the same applies in terms of use with an external cooler.

Yes it will help, but first try undervolting. Your AMD CPU tends to be warm running.

The FW is rather wide, the side will go over the edge of the cooler (not by too much but still). Though the rubber feet or top vent are not located along the edge of the notebook judging by the picture, so it should work fine. Though I am not 100% on the fitting.

"that thing in the middle" Is where the fan is. The center section of the cooler (from top to bottom) does not cool at all. One key factor when deciding which notebook cooler is the area of cooling and whether or not that is compatible with you notebook's cooling vents, there isn't one single cooler that works best for every notebook. There is no "best" only "best for a particular model of notebook".

I hope this isn't too much of a necropost but I would like to add that I have a Dell XPS M1530 and this pad fits it very well, both in terms of footprint and aesthetically. The main intake on the notebook is not quite directly over the pad's one very large vent, but I have not found this to be a problem. I have not experienced heat issues of any kind since purchasing the pad almost a year ago, and using the notebook on the couch has become much easier and more comfortable.

The Infinite will work fine, it's more important for the air to get to the CPU fan part. RM95 seems alittle pricey. In Hong Kong it's closer to RM60 right now. (Yes I am familiar with the RM currency. :D)

    Thats good to heard. :)

PS. There is no problem with bumping review threads.

I found this cooler to be very good at cooling, good quality and it fit my 17" dell inspiron 9400 fairly well.

I personally use my laptop on my lap (even with a cooler) and I quickly broke the usb mini power cable and plug on the back, plug is a straight plug and placement is just above right leg.
Just something to bear in mind to anyone buying this, I still use it in its non functioning state to keep it off my pants/bed and it still does an okay job. ^_^

I would recommend but I would also like them to redesign the ports (I would buy another one if they did) so that they can't break so easily (e.g. put them on the side/dedicated power cable not a usb mini, or supply a cable that turns 90 degrees so it fits snug to the back of the cooler).

Hi, I was just hoping to get some advise..

I'm between the CM Infinite and the X2.. I like the fact that the infinite has a hub and it'll be good to use on the couch or bed but I heard that the X2 has better airflow (more even) and pushes out more air..

    I have a 15.6" Hp pavilion dv6, here's a photo of the bottom:

Which do you think would do a better job of cooling it?

    Thanks

The X2 will have more air flow, but the Infinite will cover the main areas better (CPU/GPU fan area). Your choice! :D

It should go back on, the tabs are all stuck down by double sided tape.

I was about to order the Infinite with the hub when I read that the Zalman NC2500 is almost out, I think it's actually out in some parts but not yet in Australia.. So now I'm wondering if I should wait.. Can't find any reviews on it yet or anything but it looks awesome! What do you think?

    I've got an HP dv6 1242tx, 15.6"
