It took the company a month to get me the H05 (first shipped me the wrong chair, took forever to get that fixed) and it arrived BROKEN. Even still, it wasn't so broken that I couldn't tell that I absolutely HATED it.

The back had a crazy arc that was soooo painful. Also, I got the "high back" model with headrest and the back was nowhere near high. I don't know if they shipped me the wrong model or if HAG chairs are made for really short people.

I purchased this chair from my local Staples a couple of days ago and set it up yesterday. It's perfect for me; highly adjustable and very comfortable. High recommendations.

I prefer laying in bed/couch than extensive periods in the chair when on my laptop :p Maybe it's b/c I've never treated myself to a comfortable chair lol.

I got this executive high-back office chair @ OfficeMax like 15+ years ago. The thing cost almost $800, but has been the most comfortable chair I've ever owned. It now has a rip on the cushion though (as can be seen from the pictures). Also, one of the steel legs bent near the frame, but luckily my uncle is a welder, so he took care of that for me :)

Any ideas on what to fix that crack in the leather with, or is it too far gone/big ?

    Duct tape.

Or, get it re-upholstered. But there really isn't a good way to "repair" a tear in leather like that.

lol @ duct tape. I guess I could get it re-upholstered as well though.

Also, someone told me that there is this product available in Auto stores that will fix cracks in leather. Would a product like that work, or do you think it's too big of a crack for something like that to work ?

The way I look at it is, the chair is still 100% comfortable (I spend 6+ hours a day in it), the only fault it has is that God-awful tear in the leather. I definitely don't want to spend over $500 on a new chair again either.

Ummm, I think we are way past using leather crack-repair products. Let me give you an idea of the level that we are talking about.

Using a leather crack-repair product on your chair would be like using this:

Fills in dings, nicks, restores car paint.

    On this:

    It's just a scratch.

I think we're way past cracked leather repair products now :). I'd either live with it, or get it re-upholstered.

I just went shopping for chairs today and was intrigued by this very same chair, however it was $349. When you saw it for $250 was it on sale? At that price, along with a 20% off coupon I could swing it. If it goes on sale from time to time I'll wait.

This will be arriving on Monday:

I sat in one similar for a while at a friends, and it was very, comfy. For not sitting desk side all day long, I think it will work comfort-wise. : ) (And, if it ever does get uncomfy, I can always add some toss pillows).

I was shopping for a Chair and came upon this chair and saw staples having a $75 off $175 of all staple chairs, including my own $30 off $150 +tax = $266

Anyhow after trying this instore I was convinced and bought it without hesitation, Just put it together and came on the net to see what I can find on this and as mentioned on this thread this chair does not exist online for some strange reason...

The chair so far feels like a WINNER, so many options and feels SOLID....

I used to be an Aeron basher, but my office has them as task chairs throughout the enterprise. Best chair I've ever used for extended periods of time, I positively love it for work where I need to be upright and alert. It is not really a "lounging around in the home office" type chair, though.

At home, I currently use a cheap Ikea leather-like chair that is in desperate need of a trip to the trash bin. Utter garbage, like most of the other leather-like chairs I've purchased over the years. For home use, a high-back, well cushioned leather executive chair is probably my best recommendation. If you like to use armrests, especially if you depend on them the way that I do, make sure that you get a chair with non-moving armrests, that are set in a location that you like. My one gripe with my work Aeron chair is the armrests - they move around like crazy, and don't really have a setting in their infinite configurations that works perfectly for me.

Yeah its solid alright, heaviest chair I have ever had or used :D

So far no signs of wear, it still feels comfortable, I am very happy I have that headrest as I probably will never get a chair in the future without one now.

The only flaw mine has is the lumbar support will not stay up in place it will slide down after time if I am not putting weight on it. Not right away, it takes a few days for it to slide down but I want to mention it since I will not try to hide any flaws it may have.

Just takes 1 second to fix it though so not a big deal to me.

what do u guys think? i wished i could go and sit in some of these chairs. these chairs, with headrests, have really been interesting me lately.

Cymax Office Mesh Executive Chair with Headrest - OTG11690B

OFM Ultimate Executive Mesh Chair - 590-F (in black)

i was going to go with the Playseat office executive chair so i can use it at my comp, and attach my logitech g27 steering wheel on it. i X'd that idea out cuz i'm going to order this wheel stand pro to mount my g27 onto.

i prefer mesh chairs cuz they don't get hot and sticky like a leather-type of chair would. i've never gotten one with one of those custom headrests before. i would love to hear some feedback from u guys that have chairs with adjustable headrests. my herman miller chair will have to wait til i move into my new house (soon :D).

@vicious: i tried to search up that staples chair u posted, but couldn't find anything on it.

I would be cautious about purchasing any chair I couln't sit in. I had looked at some much more expensive chairs that were only sold in specialty stores and there were none in Richmond. When I took a trip to DC and was able to sit in some I found them too narrow, or really not that comfortable even though they were ergonomic chairs. I was so glad I didn't waste my money.

The one at Staples is curiously only available in SOME stores as ViciousXUSMC said earlier. But if you can find it, I think it's worth considering especially considering...

I love the deal that Staples has now with $75 off a Staples chair. Hopefully they will let me pair it with a 20% off coupon as bashy was able to, that will be a sweet deal. When I found the Staples Vattera (SKU# 865004) I was nearly sold on it, the only barrier was price, and now that's minimized. This is probably the best deal I'll find on a nice chair.

Oh, also it looks like Office Depot has a similar chair Realspace® PRO™ 9000 for the same price, but it's only available online for the same price as a special order which means it's not returnable. The main difference appears that the arms adjust in and out on the OD version which could be a plus or minus depending on your preference.

wow, i wonder how mesh bottomed chairs compare to the traditional fabric/leather bottomed chair? i don't think i've ever sat in a chair where the seat part was mesh. it make sense to have the back part made of mesh, but i question the durability and comfort of the mesh bottom.

man that sounded confusing. sorry :p

It has like a 2 or 5 year warranty, seems to hold up good so far.

I like the mesh, its firm and supporting while being comfortable at the same time. I never though of mesh myself until I saw the herman miller was full mesh, so then I just looked for a cheaper reasonable alternative.

Very expensive chair's. first one is probably more than 1k. second i thought it was 3000€. Becouse the whole backside is flexible. The whole chair moves with you.
I would say the first one is one of the best chairs to use every day.

I picked up the Staples chair yesterday and had to get the floor model because there were none in stock and most of the local stores did not have them either. I was only able to use the $75 off coupon.

It's a comfortable chair, however it's much taller than other chairs I have sat in, even at it's lowest setting. For some reason I didn't notice this in the store. That's the one drawback of this chair and may make me return it. I'm 6'2" and it seems too tall for me, but I really like the support and adjustments it offers. Maybe I just need a foot rest.

Anyone have a solution to the height issue? Good thing I didn't purchase larger wheels I was planning on.

Yeah I guess your right it is a tall chair. I thought of that too when I first got it but forgot about it after since its ok for me (6' 0") I do like a chair lower than this sometimes when lounging but its the proper height for me to be "ergonomic" I figured I may have not had the core of the chair slide down into the base all the way.

I imagine if you needed it shorter you could cut or modify that area (the "stem" it has a few inches on the last part not used as an anchor or height adjustment) or take the wheels off, but with no wheels this thing would be super hard to move since its already like solid steel.

If it does not fit you I would just take it back, dont compromise on the chair since especially since you already have a floor model you already made one small sacrifice (and I would have tried to get a price cut for that) I guess if you like the chair enough though and do not want to mod you can try to get a foot rest :/

this is the chair i had for about 6 year mesh backing, microfiber padded seat and a padded head rest with mesh covering it. i gotta say i love it, very comfortable. the adjustable head rest is a plus for me, i dont really use it much for gaming as i do for listen to music and watching a movie, the down side to mesh head rest is that my hair sometimes gets caught on it, not always just sometimes. And the mesh backing isnt comfortable while not wearing a shirt.lol And my armrests have had better days... been meaning to get replacements....

The chair is growing on me and like you said, possibly more ergonomic for me to sit at an appropriate height. I'm going to let if grow on me a little more. I thought about removing the wheels too and came to your exact conclusion. I also thought about cutting off the cylinder or something, but that's a lot of work which I may still be willing to do. When assembling this chair does the cylinder just fit into place? It's not coming out easily.

I tried to get an additional discount for the floor model, but the sales guy said "I'm not charging you for assembly."

I put mine together myself though since I like to build stuff and I have too many walmart bike build horror stories to ever trust a store to build something with as much care and quality as I can do it myself.

I am a big fan of the Enterprise chair from Global. I have mine for about 11 years and it is still going strong.

I sat in a lot of chairs before I decided on this one. It is sleek looking and has great lower back support.

Since I knew I was going to keep this chair for a really long time, I drove over an hour to the Global showroom and custom ordered one with the fabric I wanted.

There are hundreds of textiles including leather to choose from.

I got the high back 4560.

They aren't out of this world expensive either. They can be found for around $225 in including shipping.

Global is a manufacturer of quality office furniture sold worldwide through our dealer network.

If someone is going to spend a couple hundred dollars on a chair, and sit in it for 10-15 years, it is worth it to take a drive to one of Global's showrooms and test out some chairs like I did. Even if the drive is a long one and will cost gas money.

I haven't used that specific chair model, but I've used those chairs before. The idea is that they are supposed to improve posture and build core strength, because they require you to use your body core (abdominal muscles, back muscles, etc) to hold yourself upright.

I found it to be incredibly uncomfortable. It might be fine if I sit in a chair for only an hour or so each day, but I work at a job where I sit in front of computers for 8-12 hours. It hurts my back, and puts a lot of pressure on your knees and joints to support your weight.

It might work just fine for some people, but I personally prefer to sit my butt in a chair and let the chair (rather than my knees) support my weight.

We even had 2 people who sat on those exercise balls nearly all day long. It isn't so bad..but when your professed clutz like myself, if you move the wrong way and fell off...

I'ma gonna go ahead and vouch for the Aerons, too. They're very comfortable for full-day use and last just about forever. Plus they're extremely sturdy, with a nice heavy base. Useful for heavy people who like to lean all the way backwards into their chairs. At one point of time in high school I weighed about 220 pounds, and still couldn't make one topple over by just leaning back.

If I started rocking violently, however...

hopefully i can find a mesh back chair with headrest and height+width adjustable armrests.

rolls great on hardwood, and probably commercial carpeting, i'm a 275lbs strong man/powerlifter/runner type so life is skewed for me, probably much easier to roll around on carpet for you little people.

thanks for the suggestion, altoid. the chair u linked does look nice, but it lacks a few features that i'm lookin for. i already have a chair that's similar to the one u linked, and would like to venture into the next "tier" of chairs. i'm still a bit tight, in the financial department, cuz i'm in the process of moving to a new home. i can't splurge on an Aeron chair just yet.

i'll probably look at the best chair i can find in the $400-$600 range. i sure wished that staples coupon was still good right about now...

I am going to "upgrade" my working place at home soon and wondering what should i buy. Those office kind of chairs never served me good enough — i always felt like i am leaning forward and not using the back of the chair. On the other hand if i buy a non office chair i will need some special desk as well... seeking for some solutions right now.

The best chair in the world is the Herman Miller Aeron for sure. And for me, it's only because of one reason: the mesh seat rest. All cushion chairs end up wearing out and your butt ends up hurting.

So, while I own an Aeron, it's also prohibitively expensive and an unneeded expense. I get the same mileage out of a cheap $100 chair with a memory foam pillow under my butt and it works just as well.

i finally got a chance to stop by a few of the local staples and office depots. unfortunately, the visits didn't make my choice any easier due to the limited floor room models. i did, however, get to finally check the Staples Veretta chair out and it was pretty dang comfy! too bad it didn't have width-adjustable armrests or i would've picked it up right then and there.

do u guys know if there will be any staples coupons coming out soon? i'm gonna settle for this Balt Ergo-Exec Mesh Chair for now cuz it's one of very few mesh chairs that come with adjustable headrest AND width-adjustable armrests. plus it's relatively cheap for all the features that it offers. what do u guys think about the chair? the online reviews are REALLY mixed, so i'm kind of hesitating. if i don't like the Balt chair, i'll probably just return it for a refund and pick up the Veretta.

i will have an aeron one day!!!
i could never put myself in that kind of setup. just imagine how fast your eyes will degrade in that type of c0ck pit-type of setup.
