I think its super overpriced and wont give you any performance that any other top tier mouse wont.
I like it for the color change option, but there is only so much I would pay for that...
Also is it just the mouse or the mouse & dock that do the color change? -

I will buy it, but it's not in pre order anymore, just when I want to place my order -.-
EDIT: @ViciousXUSMC: I asked Razer and the dock sync the color from the mouse, so the dock will be with the same color as the mouse. -
Well, I'm assuming everyone knows that high DPI doesn't mean that a mouse is the best mouse ever, I would say yes, I'd get one, but one day in the future. For now, I'm incredibly content with my Naga Epic.

WaffleBoy, you have an unfortunate habit of proclaiming "the best gaming mouse" as whichever one happens to have the highest DPI at the moment. Last month it was the Roccat Kone with 6,000 DPI, now it's the Mamba with 6,400.
DPI really is not a defining factor in a mouse's quality these days. Unless you play with hilariously high sensitivity (we're talking less than three inches to perform a 360 degree turn in-game), then literally any gaming mouse these days will be enough for you. People who play with average to low sensitivity don't need more than 2,000 or so. Hell, the way I currently play (around 20 inches for a 360 degree rotation), the minimum useful DPI is not even 300.
A far more important factor is USB polling rate. Most gaming mice have 1,000Hz polling/1ms response, so it's not really an issue of competition either. Pretty much the only things left are comfort (which is very personal and subjective), and overall quality (build quality, durability, software support, sensor quality, etc.). The current Mamba, for example, uses the Philips Twin-Eye laser sensor, which a lot of people don't like because it often has a Z-axis tracking problem, meaning the mouse continues to track when it is lifted vertically off of a surface. But some mice handle this better than others; I give Razer credit for managing it well with the Mamba (and presumably the Lachesis, Naga and Imperator that use the same sensor), because with Razer's firmware updates, the cursor barely moves when I lift my Mamba off of my mouse pad. I've heard stories of other mice using the same sensor (e.g. the RAT series) causing the cursor to skip hundreds of pixels at a time when lifted.
That said, the Mamba is an excellent mouse and I couldn't be happier with mine. If what they say about this dual laser/optical sensor is true, then it could very well be one of the best innovations in mice in recent years. The color changing and improved battery certainly don't hurt either. If I have the cash to spare, I may pawn off my current Mamba and get one of these new models to see what the fuss is about, but realistically I'm quite happy with mine as it is. -
I think you mean mm or cm instead of inches?

I don't care about DPI, but I had the "old" Mamba for a few days (I returned it to get the new one) and before I had the R.A.T 7, and honestly I can say it's the best mouse I ever had, this mouse is awesome, it's like if it have an integrated aimbot :q serisouly this mouse is ing accurate and smooth.
Razer FTW! ;q -
I find Raxer Naga to be the best mouse, the extra mouse buttons are defeniatelly a win over the Mamba's dpi (guessing for bragin rights) in any mmo that I played.

I don't play MMO anymore so Mamba is the best for me.
-
Yeah, I can see how the 12 thumb buttons would be a real asset for MMO's or any other game with a lot of binds and macros, but I primarily play shooters, and between my Mamba's 7 buttons and my n52te keypad's 15 keys, 8-way D-pad, wheel and thumb trigger, I never have a shortage of buttons.
-
oh no, waffleboy beat me to creating this thread
honestly, are you serious waffleboy? -
(like the Roccat)
I think I will wait till for reviews and etc...
someone gave me this idea... I guess it was you, no? hehe
I just want to know, if I use FHD TV 32INCH, 3500 DPI will be good, or 6400DPI will be even better? -
? Do you have some sort of disability that prevents you from making a full motion with your arm or wrist
??
-
-
This gives you better precision, and gives you better control of the mouse's on-the-fly DPI adjustment feature. -
I have a razer mamba, other than the really NICE packaging, I never really noticed a difference between it and a logitech wireless mouse. I have three different ones of those, all four mice all feel the same?
-
Right now, I have MSI mouse 3500 DPI on 10 inch screen 1024x600, not fast enough to me... actually, I really want to try the Razer Mamba 4G on BO...
-
-
?? Do you set the mouse sensitivity on the program to the lowest possible??
-
-
Try this: Open a program like MS Paint, and try writing your name using a high DPI + low sensitivity setting, and then with a low DPI + high sensitivity setting.
Do you notice a difference between either method? If yes, keep it on that setting. If no, then it doesn't matter. -
So its not fast enough to me. -
Congrats on being able to move your hand micrometers. But honestly, higher dpi really doesn't make a difference on that small of a screen. If it isn't fast enough for you, try moving your hand 5 micrometers instead of 1. -
So im assuming Waffleboy wants 6400 dpi on his 10" netbook? nice...

Where can I buy one of these? It's on back order on Razer's website
-
Razer's website is still the only place to order atm. Hopefully, amazon or other site will have it up soon, and cheaper.

It says it has 2 sensors that can be switched anytime. So the dual sensor is not working at the same time? Why would I go to older tech if I can use the laser it self assuming that I have a good mouse pad?
6000 dpi is not an issue for me, but what the tootsie* for having 2 sensors?
Thanks -
wait, which is 4000dpi+low sens and which is 125 dpi+high sens ?
how about the 1:1 ratio (6th notch) vs low sens+higher dpi, I'm curious if it makes any difference. -
-
Optical sensors (in my experience) tend to be less picky about the types of surface they can be used on, while lasers sometimes have tracking issues on certain textures or colors of mousing surfaces.
Optical sensors also tend to have higher perfect control speeds than lasers (i.e. the maximum physical speed you can move the mouse without any tracking errors). The original 1,800 optical DeathAdder was renowned for having the highest perfect control speed of any gaming mouse, exceeding laser mice with twice its DPI.
Personally, I would prefer my Mamba to have the 3,500 DPI optical sensor from the DeathAdder rather than its current 5,600 DPI Twin Eye laser because the DA's optical sensor is overall a better sensor. -
vs 4000 dpi + low sensitivity (your preferable setting)
I know 125dpi with 1:1 ratio will make people crazy haha. -
Logitech > Razer IMO
So, with that in mind, I'm going to stick with the G700 I think. 5700dpi is more than enough -
and I can't tell the difference between doing that and putting it on low sensitivity and putting 4000 DPI. I'm pretty bad at FPS's anyway.. (I'm using the Orochi on the m11x btw)
-
That's cool, DA is the best selling mouse of Razerbut I'm good at my Mamba at the moment
Thanks! -
owner(s), enlighten us please -
That DPi level is a waste. It will probably be 1/2 of the price. And that battery life is meh. You should see the M705 marathon mouse wireless from Logitech. You put in 2 AA batteries and you get 3 years of battery life. DAAAAMMMMNNN!

Someone already ordered it?

MX518 still rocks! Is cheap and easily one of the best gaming mouse still out there.
-
g700???? any one???
i still find it the best gaming mouse, i tried the first mamba and ended up with the g700 -
Hey guys, I'm new to these forums, but decided to sign up when I saw the discussion of the Mamba 4G, so I could share my thoughts.
I currently have an original Mamba and the new Mamba, and I will be sending the new one back.
I have had some random tracking issues with the new Mamba, where it seems to momentarily change resolution and either be more or less responsive. This happens very rarely, and only for a brief moment, so I am unable to replicate this problem. It's really not much of an annoyance.
The big problem is that the mouse easily loses the connection to the receiver. It's happened a few times just while I'm using the mouse, but it always happens when I switch the mouse from wired to wireless mode. The only way I can get the mouse to reconnect is by resetting my computer. Even disconnecting the receiver and turning the mouse on and off does nothing. Often times, when this happens, the mouse and receiver get out of sync and are different colors.
I will be posting my review shortly at myrealitytech.com, so you can get more info there. The short version, though, is that I'd hold off on ordering this until a new firmware update is released to address these issues. I really enjoy the older Mamba, though. -
another problem? sariously razer, this sounds more and more like an experimental product.
seems like marketing dept beats the hell out of R&D dept ,
and release unmature product for the sake of being first. pfftt
I wonder (or no wonder) why there hasn't been product review by top websites. -
We will have to wait for new drivers...
