This is not the first cooler with a single huge fan design. It is however the first one that is easy to get in the states.
Digital Cowboy had one out like a year ago, I was going to get it but they were making it a pain for me to import one and there site is Japanese only (I speak some Japanese so that helps) -
Oodle-Bear Alienware Mug, Testpilot
I know my m17x sucks air down through the vents near to the screen and then out of the back so the only real benefit would be to cool the HDD's and RAM... It might help with the GPU's as well...
To be honest my m17x doesn't really need any cooling i'm just thinking of prolonging it's life a little really (",)

it might work. it might not. there are just better, readily-available, coolers out there that can support a 17" notebook better. -
Remember, just because the 17" doesnt exactly fit on perfectly, it still does have the same cooling ability, because the main components arent on the very edge. Also, its only about 1/2 inch at most, in the back, where most batterys are anyway. On the sides its only 1/4 inch.
To some, it may not look the best, but i dont belive it affects cooling ability.
The 15.4" Widescreen fits perfectly on it.
The Aeolus seems like it beats out most other notebook coolers or matches them according to the reviews i have read. -
there are plenty of m17x pictures (specific notebook that Oodle-Bear asked for) if u wanted to look at the bottom.
don't get me wrong. i am not puttin down yur cooler. i personally think that any accessory that produces positive numbers and doesn't take anything away from my laptop, is a + in my book. it's just that some are better designed, especially for notebooks that are larger than 15.4" -

@ ahl395: i remember u askin, in a few posts, for some temps with my cooler. this screenshot was taken after almost 14 hours of straight use. consisted of gaming, music, torrents, movies, browsing, and if i was not at the computer it was downloading/scannin something:
p.s. - these are not my lowest recorded temps. -
Oodle-Bear Alienware Mug, Testpilot
Nice one "H", the temps are impressively low for that amount of time (",)
Also who is or where can i get the desktop.... (",)
I'll look into the NZXT Cryo cooler, problem is like XP2 has said, the m17x cools from the top so most coolers will only cool the HDD's a maybe the GPU underneath through the chassis at best...
OB -
sorry for the poor quality. i don't have a real camera here at my townhouse.
lots of high-res wallpapers here. her name is frederica. -

Firstly, that;'s is a very cool set-up and the desk is great. I can see you also use the eXact mat, me too (",).
The Cryo seems to be coolign the correct part of the notebook, if it pulls airflow up into the case from below... I'm sure that it would cool my m17x a little, but not enough to drop the GPU temps a little.
It's certainly impressive to look at, does it cause problems with typing or gaming with it being high?

pm sent. i don't wanna hijack the man's thread.
-
One that i will reccormend also.
I wont give up with the Aeolus though
To go a little more off topic, what dock are you using? -
i use objectdock and my theme i'm usin is called 'steel final'.
-
I really like this cooler, but I think my X61 would look a little small. Looks to be pretty effective nonetheless.
-
My NZXT was delivered today. But I just now got home and I'm gonna put it through some tests.
Though from first impressions...I'm impressed
I love the fact that the laptop is now higher than it would be without the cooler, and the screen is eye level now, meaning I down have to tilt my head forward to look down at the screen. I also like the angle my laptop sits at now. So far so good.
<s>Edit: this is weird. I booted up my laptop and temps were 51/55 for the CPU, and now after a few mins on the cooler they are 39/44. Sweet.</s>
^^ those temps were in balanced mode, after putting vista in High Performance mode, the temps shot back up to 48/53. -

yes indeed
-
yes it looks like a nice 1
-
Okay, now I'm torn. I have been wanting an ultrabase, but felt it would mostly be a luxury for the $165 price, but this has two benefits, cooling, plus the wrist rest. Now I am having trouble deciding.
-
Has anyone located Aeolus in Europe ?

How is the fan powered?
-
@walyruz: Yeah, i understand. I guess you have to choose which one you would want more... -

I can't find this cooler available in the Uk, the only option is to get one from the USA and have it shipped over...
Ho Hum... (",)

NO problem (",), it's not like it's your fault, i'll just keep looking and hopefully it will be available soon. If it is i'll be getting one of these for sure, just in case my m17x gets a lil' bit hot lol

Any way to max the fan a little it does not reach my CPU the fan
-
Sorry, not understanding fully. Please clarify. -
Just thought i'd pass on the price I found for it

$27.99 after rebate -

Ordered this cooler from Xoxide and got it yesterday. It is very comfortable, slick and nice. What is not - I have not get this temperatures drop on ASUS F8Sn NB (software used is PC wizard). When idle, after 5 min of cooling CPU core drop was from 48C to 46C and GPU core drop was from 64C to 59C
-
Hmm, it should definetly be cooling better than that. Try HWMonitor to double check.
Check placement of the notebook, make sure vents are clean.
Even without the cooler, that a little warm for idling. -
-
hey neat review buddy!
I may think of getting this if my "Asus N80VN" gets too hot(Ordered,yet to arrive) -
Good choice. -
I use this cooler with my laptop (Sager NP8660/Clevo M860TU) and I have to say it is pretty amazing. It fits perfectly, the edges of the notebook lineup with the cooler within millimetres. It is also very quiet (max noise level is 20dB , 5dB less than the NC2000).
I will try to post gaming temperatures when I get the chance, currently the cooler is at home and I am at school where I don't game.
The main reason to get this cooler is my fan noise went down DRASTICALLY. The problem with the M860TU is the temperatures stay the same and fan noise keeps getting louder. SO basically when I game the GPU temperatures are always 70C and CPU temperatures are always 50C. Without a cooler this notebook sounds like a plane taking off. With the cooler and some CPU undervolting the fan noise literally dropped by ~15dB and the difference was so good I decided not to try to sell the laptop anymore.
Rough gaming temperatures/fan noise:
GPU: 70C --> 66C
CPU: 50C --> 45C
HDD: 68C --> 57C
Fan Noise: ~45dB --> ~30dB -
I sent you a PM. -
has anyone tried this cooler with a dv5t, i want to the effectiveness and result, i plan on buying either this, nc2000, or cryo. but i m leaning on this, so i want to know the result
-
my graphics card exhaust is in the back of my laptop, will this cooler be able to effectively cool it or is it mainly for the cpu/memory/hard drive? and would i be better off with the nc2000 for mainly graphics card cooling
edit: newegg has a $30 mail in rebate for the enermax ($9.99) so i couldn't pass up the deal and bought it -
Good, post back how you like it, and if it worked well. -
