hey!!...they're the same just different color lol i want black but yeah i checked that site out already + shipping is a killer! i was really interested in this at first but now hmm.no extra USB its hooked up by usb right? so i'll be taking up one usb slot?
-
I just got it today and set it up. Impressive looking but the results were terrible. I've been monitoring it with HWmonitor and my temperatures are exactly the same with or without the cooler, GPU pushing 90 degrees under heavy gaming. I'm glad this worked for many people but sadly it does nothing for me. I guess it's worth the $18 because it keeps my laptop at eye level

WHAT! 18 bucks?! thats what i'm talking about..my man where did you get this for 18 dollars?
-
I dont know why its not working for you.... -
FYI it is 5 bucks after MIR on newegg.

Has anyone ever gotten rebates from Enermax? They say 10-12 weeks which seems really long, since most of the time other companies say 6-8 weeks.
-
Well im back home. Just dusted out my laptop and put it back on the cooler. Here are the results after 45 minutes of TF2.
-
God darnnn
thats hot
-
Heres the results without the cooler after about 45 minutes of TF2, also keep in mind the computer fan is blowing a lot harder without it.

That's the first notebook cooler I've seen that actually does it's job! Something I'd expect from a company like Enermax!
-
-
Not to say there arent other decent coolers, but this one is excellent. -
Mine doesn't do as well as that when gaming. My GPU would be 71C without the cooler, now it hovers around 67-68 but it still hits 70 max.
I see the biggest cooling when I am surfing the web and other regular applications. The hard drive would hit 40 before, now it doesn't go over 33. The GPU would hit 45, now it stays at 37. Whatever ACPI is (I guess the northbridge or some other motherboard component) would be in mid to high 30 without, now it dips into the 20. Overall I am happy with it.
Oh btw, if anyone bought it recently with the $35 rebate, ignore the part on the rebate form about the serial #, there isn't one. Just send in the UPC. I e-mailed Enermax and they confirmed they only need a UPC from the box. -
Oh... Sorry to hear that.
But your other temps are pretty good.
BTW, 70C while gaming is good. -
By request.
-
is this quite on the lowest setting, just bought a nzxt cryo even on the lowest setting you need ear defenders, big waste of money
-
-
I don't even hear mine over my laptops fan.
-
I can see inherent flaw with the design. The grid is still open past the fan blowing air. in either a sucking or pushing configuration this will allow air to circulate off the case and through the fan back to the case. Recirculating the heated air under the cooler is not a way to cool the laptop...........
-
Obviosly, as you can see, the cooler works very well, despite this. -
-
Also, another thing that the open grate does, where the fan isnt, is to let out the heat from under the notebook, like a regular vent. If it was was solid, then the heat from the notebook on the areas where the fan isnt touching, would have nowhere to escape. Which would make it heat up more. -
Would this be a decent cooler for my MSI 1651? I was recommended a Zalman NC2000, but I'm wondering if this is a viable alternative?
-
I need to get a cooler for my G1Sn, the 9500M GS is around 97C while gaming
Atm, ive got 2 in my mind: the cp001(G) and nzxt cryo lx. Which would be most effective ? -
I just bought this cooler last week. A couple things to note:
The thing is SILENT. I'm not exaggerating either; my computer's fan were louder.
It does weigh quite a lot, as it is almost entirely aluminum.
It does a great job of cooling my 17 inch notebook, I just have to position it correctly. -
Well, by this logic we could say that using this cooler in a 95 degree environment would render it useless. When the air circulates through the fan, the temperature of it decreases. -
The Aeolus seemed to beat out the Zalman in reviews.
Both are good coolers.
Especially for cost effeciency, the Aeolus i think is better. FOr being a great cooler, and plus being pretty cheap, i think it wins.
Yeah, the weight is the only bad think about it.
Thanks for the support. -
You sure this cooler is getting better reviews than the Zalman NC2000? From the notebook guide, I was told from the notebook cooler buyer's thread that the NC2000 does a better job of covering all of my laptop's vital spots?
-
i just wish there was a decent/good 17 inch laptop cooler. i found 1 (name is escaping me right now) but the price tage was also $100.
-
-
anyone tried this on the asus g1s'? lol been leaning towards the NZXT cooler but this is making me think twice lol
-
-
good call. i think and wait and see if anyone has experience with this on a g1s!
-
I just don't get it.Why the ppl reviews in newegg gave this cooler such low rating. They said the temp changes were not obvious.....
-
-
It seems like the lip on the front of this thing would block headphone jacks on various types of notebooks, has anyone has experience with this?
-
Oodle-Bear Alienware Mug, Testpilot
I'm still trying to find someone in the Uk that selld these to try it on my M17X... (",)
Glad to hear possitive reviews/results though...
OB -
I also want one but price in germany is much more than in US.....
-
I explain that issue, which is easily solved.
You could try eBay.
Some of them have International Shipping. -
Sword and Scales Notebook Consultant
Thanks for the in-depth review. I think this settles my search for a cooler for the ASUS W90.
Edit:
Maybe I spoke too soon. Newegg reports don't look nearly as good. I'm not saying you're lying to us or anything, but the reviews seem to say "It looks good, but doesn't cool too well." -
Yeah, there is a big discrepency between the results reported here and the reults posted elsewhere... I dunno, i think the more research I do on various coolers, the more confused I get.
This may be a sign that the truth is it varies too much (cooler fan placement vs. computer intake vent location) to say without doubt how a cooler will perform... I had high hopes for this cooler, as I thought the large fan might mitigate this by providing a large area of airflow, therefore getting air into my computer's vents regardless of where they were, but now I'm unsure again... -
These are the results i had with MY laptop. This cooler will work great for some, if not most notebooks, but not great for others. IMO, it all has to do with the laptops cooling assembly. If you have alot of vents on the bottom, it will work better, if not, it wont work as well. I wish I could testr it with some other laptops... Thats why I made the User Experiences Section in the review... hoping it will grow, and more notebooks will be listed, so buyers will know if it works good, ok, or not good with their spesific Notebook. But im still waiting on that. Only two so far...

im searching a cooler for my laptop:
MSI gx-600 Extreme Edition with Turbo Button that overclocks the CPU up to 20%15.4"
Core 2 Duo T7500 2*2.2 GHz
NVIDIA GeForce 8600M GT - 512 MB
2 Gb RAM (in a view weeks 4 Gb)
at first i thought the enermax aeolus would be the best for me but at the moment im not sure.
other coolers im thinking about:
zalman cn 2000 but the holes are in the lower part and the GPU and CPU are in the hole left side (right: DVD and HDD) of my laptop
NZXT Cryo LX i think its a realy good cooler but 60€ is a lot of money and i dont know if this is necessary
http://img3.imagebanana.com/view/wrxqs0tb/CIMG2385.JPG
this displays the bottom of my laptop so you can see where air can get into it
so what do you think whats the best cooler for me? -
The NC2000 focuses air on the back of the notebook, where you dont have many vents. The NZXT Cryo is a great cooler. IMO, on the same level as the Aeolus. Id say between those two. Bur the Aeolus is most cost effective. -
what i read that the cryo is better but i think the aeolus will do it too.
are there any other opinions from other users?
i will buy the cooler (wich ever if you could persuade meon the weekend.
when i have the cooler i will do a view tests and upload it here. but this will take a view time because in ~2 weeks my laptop will be in repair because the built in fan is falterbut after this i will upload it. promised
-
wow that has to be the most UNcomfortable looking Cooler to type on. NICE review but honestly i'm glad i bought my Zalman. It's significantly cooling my 8600M and is FAR more ergonomic. Those wrist rests (especially being metal) Would KILL me especially having tendonitis.
""The NC2000 focuses air on the back of the notebook""
I have one right in front of me and i assure you the air Distribution is even across the surface. (At least as much as one can tell from putting your hand over it)
Also what scares me Is read the experiences of the people who bought this cooler at Newegg...
http://www.newegg.com/Product/ProductReview.aspx?Item=N82E16834995510
And http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16834995511
People also temp monitoring
Then look a the Reviews for the Zalman

1-3's for the Enermax and 4-5's for the Zalman I;m in the market for a second cooler for my other laptop myself and while this did catch my eye Most the information iv'e seen so far outside your review) Seems to point Zalman.
By contrast by the way. My 8600m - GT never exceeds 60C even after HOURS of gaming in a 15 inch form factor laptop with my Zalman on.
