I am starting to back peddle. I seriously cannot decide between the G9x, the G500 and the Deathadder. I have no place to try the mice. That makes me a sad panda![]()
Bare in mind like I said before, I will be playing more RTS than FPS. And I palm my mouse now but my hand is so large that it just hangs off in the back.
And still haven't found a good mouse pad. Looking for hard and cheap, please take this sentence seriously xD.
-
well an easy decision is, do you want an ambidextrous mouse? if not, DA is out. g9x is flat back, g500 is a rounded back. So when you game and everyday use; are you a palmer or a claw? finger tip? I used to have a g500, that's good mid-size mouse for a palmer. When I was playing around with my buddies g9x it was more for like claw/finger tip.
In terms of specs, g9x and g500 is relatively similar; so I wouldn't worry about the mouse specs at this point. Just how you rest your hand when using it.
I think the g500 would be a good fit for you.
I use a OCZ behemoth mouse pad that I got off newegg for $7. Just an idea. Mouse glides like butter on it and it is very large. -

The DeathAdder has room for your whole hand. I have pretty large hands as well, and the heel of my palm rests on the back end of my DeathAdder.
As for the G500, I haven't used one, but I believe it's the same shape as the MX518, which is quite comfortable.
If you like hard mats, check out the Rocketfish gaming mouse pad. It's Best Buy's generic brand, and it's basically the Razer eXactMat for half the price. Double-sided aluminum mouse pad, Speed and Control sides and all that. Definitely worth the $20.
Rocketfish™ - Gaming Mouse Pad - Black - RF-MSEPAD
"Ambidextrous" means perfectly symmetrical, usable by either the left or right hand.
This (the Razer Lachesis) is an ambidextrous mouse:
This (the DeathAdder) is not:
-
oh oops thought the DA had the side buttons on both sides. Yeah was thinking about the lachesis. Goofy razer, forgot they had a left AND right handed versions.
I'm fully aware of what ambidextrous means, thanks shroom -
Had a DeathAdder for a couple years, fantastic mouse. The second I held it was like bliss to my hand. It was hand nirvana; it was a palmgasm. It's that good.
I'm not a huge fan of Razer gear, but the DeathAdder is a well respected, extremely comfortable, reliable mouse ofr anything. Even if you're not gaming, you use a mouse all the time you're on a computer. Having a comfortable one with a couple extra thumb buttons does just what I want.
I'd say Deathadder is the go-to mouse for right-handed folks, and if your a southpaw I think they make one for your kind as well. -
Maybe I can buy the G500 from Best Buy and see if I like it or not and then return it? (if I don't like it that is)
-
that's normally what I do lol, give a little test run during the return period

I personally would rec. a cloth mousepad. I've tried the hard ones, I do not like them at all.
-
You would be better off buying from somewhere like Amazon.com, which does not charge a restocking fee, and sells the mouse for $55. Or, you can buy from NewEgg.com, which does charge a restocking fee, but sells the mouse for $44 after rebate. -
-
I think I am going to be getting the G500 haha. for sure this time. I will be returning it to best buy and getting it from amazon.

If you're cheap like I am, this is a pretty nice surface: Amazon.com: WOW!PAD LFR48 11.5" x 12.5" Graphite Large Format Mouse Pad: Office Products
Why get an aluminum slab when your desk is already hard and flat? -
Besides, it's nice to know you'll have a uniform reliable surface anywhere you go. -
This mat's pretty stiff plastic. It's flexible, but I wouldn't even want to roll it around itself once, and it is pretty huge.
I personally find that a heavy, solid mat is too much to bring with when I have so many other things in my bag, so a small flat spongy-style mat is my traveling companion, and this one sits on my desk at home. The traveling one is nice because it will account for any weirdness in the random desks I use, but the one at home is a much larger, more accurate surface.
But to each his own. -
That's why I like my Vespula; it's rigid plastic and very lightweight. It won't bend without a lot of force, and it slips into my backpack next to my notebook.
-
i'll probably never buy a soft mouse pad again, and am actually considering stocking up on exactmats before they become extinct. -

It's clearly an ad bot.

I have a G9x and it is a very good mouse. As far as mousepads go you can't go wrong with a cheap and good Xtrac Ripper.
-
I got this Microsoft sidewinder.. it's very cool with the LED and easy dpi changer from 400 to 2000
-
so what's the verdict? Made the purchase or still deciding?
Maybe this will help
Just putting it out there. Good deal, don't skip on it.

yeah the u2 is pretty sweet, definitely had the same impressions as well when I got it last summer. Plus having the tiny 4" - $6 fan I got from walmart to blow more air in through the back of the cooler, to the 2 u2 fans and the 120mm fan I modded on there; just awesome. Laptop sits so cool now when I'm on bfbc2. Having a small fan behind the cooler to blow air in is "definitely" a plus, I would highly consider into a $6 purchase
-
-
yup yup
For the bg-gears 120mm fan, I cut off the existing pre-installed 3pin connector that normally goes to the power supply. Took a 9v battery and figured out the polarity to see which one was positive, negative and something else. The wires were clear with no markings and there were three of them
Then took an old usb mouse and cut off the usb connector, soldered it onto the fan wires encasing it with some heat shrink tubing. The fan goes into the u2 fan usb 2-way adapter. Then gets powered from a usb charger that I got off ebay for $1... aka - generic Apple adapter charger. I'm sure there's other ways to provide power but this was the simplest route. Plus it's not stressing the usb port on my laptop to draw power.

u play mmo games? razer naga is the best for mmo

For a value gaming mouse, the logitech mx518 offers a lot of bang for the buck. It may not be the latest or highest in DPI, but sensor quality is still there.
As a sidenote, sensor quality is more important than DPI, just like in cameras where having a higher number of megapixels do not mean that the photo taken will be better. -

The thing I love most about the MX518 is its ability to be used in absolutely any computer I plug it into. Whether it's directly connected to a system or into a low-quality USB hub, it works perfectly. Can't say that about most high-power mice today.
-
I've never had a mouse that didn't work on a hub.

Purchased Razer Imperator 2012 a few weeks back abd it's just awesome for my needs) previously used only Logitech products but now i'm more impressed with Razer products! It has a faster 4G sensor (but for me even 1500dpi is pretty much enough) + rubberized contoured thumb grip instead of glossy finish they had before + the lights, you can manually disable if not needed + customizable profiles. Good choice overall.
Was debating between this and Steelseries Sensei, but as soon as i put my hand on the latter i didn't feel like i'm using a high quality product, neither i was attarcted by its surface and extra buttons on the right side of the mice.
Choosing a mouse is more like an individual taste, you'd better touch and feel it in your hand before you consider to buy) -
Just going to say the MX518 is a really good value for money mouse and i'd advise anyone looking for a cheaper gaming mouse to get it.
-
If you are a palm gripper the deathadder is one of the best mice you can get. It is not plagued by the problems that razers high end mice have(z-axis issues) but the 3500 dpi one is a little picky with the pad you couple with it. It tracks brilliantly on the cheap steelseries Qck pad.
The logitech G400 and the mx518 are also awesome mice. They track really well on most surfaces. The good thing about these mice is the shape of the mouse and can be gripped as a palm grip or even a finger/claw grip if you have large hands.
I personally hate my G500 as the scrollwheel is horrible. The free scrolling is great but the notched mode is below subpar. The notched response is waay too loose and has made this mouse pretty unusable to me in gaming and 3d work. In the heat of battle changing weapons is difficult and tends to scroll too fast. I also dont like the sensor location and the base weight is too much.
If the scrollwheel is an issue for you as it was for me, I would stay clear of all the Logitech mice that use the same scroll wheel eg: G500, G700, G9x etc...
The new Imperator does look good but Razer still has work to do to get rid of all the bugs that it has.
The best bet would be that you go to a store where you can see the different mice. Good luck with your mouse search! -
razer always breaks on me, the button gets jammed
-
I play MMOs but I don't feel comfortable with Razer Naga Epic using my claw grip.
I realized this after playing 6 straight hours yesterday.
Just saying. -
-
Anyone tried the Sensei yet -- specifically for claw grips?
