lol norton is anything BUT complete![]()
pfft the blu ray thing was because the world is full of illiterate yahoos who can't spell even if their life depended on it.
blu-ray is a good name but do you really think of an optical media format when you first hear it? I keep thinking it's the distant relative of the stingray lol
seriously ppl you are all falling for the ploy of the media moguls, today you will spend thousands on a blu-ray/hd dvd collection. tomorrow you will find a completely different media and suddenly you throw all your money away once more.
I have barely ever seen a movie twice unless I am forced to except for Transformers the movie which is timeless! I would rather rent the discs and rip them, but you didn't hear me say that![]()

this feels like how it was after the 2000 presidential election
I wish al gore, err HDDVD would just concede already! -
Yup cuz personally whichever one wins will not matter to me, I barely buy movies anymore. I had VHS tapes, then everything went DVD and now this and tomorrow something else! I wonder how much each of us waste on this crap? Imagine if you spent it on something worthwhile, like the poor. Feed the poor rather than feed rich corporations, do something that will enrich the future and make a difference to someone. Come on! Fall for my cheesy words, ya fell for the big wigs, why not me LOL

Blu-ray is a pathetic name for a new HD disc format. At least with HD-DVD you at know it has something to do with optical media.
Marketing a format is one thing but flogging a dead horse is a whole different story. Sony, at the moment, is flogging their PS3 console to anyone and everyone who will buy it. The console is nowhere near where it should be and Sony know this. I can see the Blu-ray format going downhill based upon this factor alone.
I would like to appreciate Sony and their new HD disc format but they make it so hard. They harp on about the Blu-ray installed user base being bigger than HD-DVD’s based upon their sales of the PS3. For all the people who bought a PS3 I wonder how many of them actually watch Blu-ray movies? Also, how many of them buy Blu-ray movies to watch on their PS3? -
even though i feel that HD DVD is superior(better error correction, the media is more durable), i think blu-ray will win the competition just because the name is a bit catchier and easier to recognize.
-
I'm going to make a new HD format using pancakes as the media. Butter and syrup will be the data and my mouth will be the optical drive. Is anyone interesting in helping me finance this? I will give you free discs as many as you want! Butter and Syrup are 50 cents standard.
-
Catchier yes, but have you tried explain to someone what Blu-ray was? I'm constantly met with a blank expression lol Not that HD-DVD's much better but it does sound, like SideSwipe mentioned, like stingray.
-
LOL riffjaff you sold me! I will jump right into this wonderous new media. Where can I buy your mouth and these proprietary pancakes w the syrup
-
wow looks like there is an overwhelming majority of the people saying Blu ray will win. But I think in the end...HD-DVD will win, believe it.
Watch a third format come out and beat both...LOL.

Since we are such a small company right now, we only have a small office in Woodstock, Illinois at the corner of boring avenue and dull street. Feel free to give me a call or email at any time to place your order. Act fast because we have a special right now including a free upgrade to aluminum teeth and the best syrup that Vermont has to offer. Yep, only $600 for the teeth and $40 for the syrup. Most competitive prices anywhere!

The Blu-Ray has definitely more storage, but unforunately in this world, Microsoft is "the Boss". Because Microsoft supports HD-DVD, the HD-DVD will 110% win over the Blu-Ray. Sony fell in a trap again... Like the UMD...
-
no its not like thee UMD, with that there wasnt any direct rivals, Sony just walked into that trap by their own accord. with this both sides have a good chance of winning and there may never be a real winner and both formats could be around for years.
-
its more like betamax vs vhs. and i believe betamax was backed by sony as well.
-
Yes Sony did back Betamax and it was better quality than VHS but look who won. The fact is as much as we think quality will win, it's all about what the average consumer latches onto. The average consumer will not care if Blu-ray has a higher maximum bitrate than HD-DVD when it comes to watching their favourite movie. What will matter is content and like we have all seen, if these movie studios continue to change allegiance at will then this war can be won by either side.
-
yes, this is the one
-
Neither. Both fail to pickup users and they flop, like SACDs and audio DVDs.
HD-DVD vs. Blu-Ray.
