It doesn't get hot. It has active cooling. See post #1.

What is your spec and who did you buy it off??
Even the minimum spec for a P870 (65W CPU plus 150W GPU) is too much for a single 230W -
My dads km1
2x gtx 1070 sli
i7 7700k (delidded by me using rockitt)
2x samsung 850 pro evo 2tb ssd
32gb ram! -
I wanted to say one of the two power bricks is breaking!
-
righto that makes sense
When one of my adapters deteriorated a bit and was occasionally cutting out I read that uneven voltage output unevenly distributes load across the joiner, my experience was one got really hot and the other didn't and when I swapped out the hot 330W with another the problems stopped
Naturally the 780W wouldn't have this issue. -
But now the problem is, my dad's bank is taking too much time to convert a given amt to usd, that sucks!

Seen mixed reviews on this. Personal experience w/330W (plus AC-100 power converter box) has been good though. Bought 4x330Watts plus 2 converter boxes (home and work) and never had an issue.

Mixed reviews? Can you please post some links? I haven't seen any negative reviews at all.
The converter boxes are a nice solution, but they require 2 heavy PSU's + 2x the cables of 1 carry PSU + the converter box and it's cable.
We had been asking as a community for years for a single PSU solution, and after a lot of work this compact 780w PSU is still the only one available.
It's awesome, if a bit expensive, but it's likely a niche product for now without a lot of production runs, so it's going to be pricier than the mass produced smaller PSU's.
If the price were the same as 2 x 330w + AC100 cost, which would you prefer to carry?

The noise factor and cost would be difficult to justify an upgrade from the dual bricks and converter. I purchased the Panther 5D version (P570WM) w/12-core proc to run data analyses and needed “portability”...the size of the laptop was always the biggest limitation. If I was going to transport the 12 pound laptop, the bricks and converter were the molehill on a mountain
All that said, if there was a choice with where to start...I would go with the 780W. Assuming Eurocomm keeps its end of the deal and offers different cables in the near future.

Heads up, these are on ebay right now for 400 USD + 30 USD shipping (about 10% below retail).

Has anyone played to reduce the fan noise from this beast?

I would also like to know about this. Having a single PowerBrick is very nice, but this thing is way too loud. It’s louder then my laptop in most situations. I’ve resorted to using the dual bricks, and I keep the single brick in my backpack for travel purposes only. But even then, it’s almost embarrassing how loud this thing is when I bring my setup to my friends’ place. Maybe the fan on mine is going out and is just louder than everyone else’s.Last edited: Jul 20, 2018hmscott likes this.

I got mine for 300 on Ebay plus 10 bucks shipping when they first came out. The guy hated the fan noise. I do too sometimes my laptop isn't doing anything and this thing revs up like a turbine.
