Well, I'm glad I can provide some entertainment![]()
I'm like you, I'm picky as hell but dammit, I'm the one paying the bill and when it comes to the steak, I have to pay it AND eat it. Why should I put up with some crummy steak for 20 bucks. People that eat with me that are willing to settle for poor quality food or service always say to me, "God, you're so picky!" and I go, "Yes I am!"
I'm eating this and I"m paying for this and it ain't cheap.
Same thing with hard ware. My needs are different as you have seen, I do have a lot of hardware and no, I don't want it in two bags because I'd like to have one hand free and all that.
Anyway, I'm thinking this is the one I'll stick with for the carry it all, BUT, I'll probably buy something just for the laptop and ac adapter and mouse and all that.
Yes, it's a lot more than I wanted to pay but, it's very nice (and by the way, the pics do NOT do it justice. It looks horrible compared to the real thing) and holds MORE than I have or wanted to carry. I CAN afford it and I'd rather pay more and get what I want than less and NOT be happy 'cause it WILL me off and I'll hate the product.

I also got a bag from Wally world that actually holds it all but very tight. I got the Alien Orion case or whatever it was called.
I got this one Tenba Laptop Messenger Bag, Large (Chocolate) 638-237 B&H Photo
and I got these from the same place as the McKlein Chicago I think I'll settle on.

I had another coming too but they were out of stock so they canceled the order and I don't mind 'cause looking at the Chicago, I don't think I would have liked it as much.
