hey guys.
This is my first post and thought this would be the best place to ask. I just wanted your opinion on the price of the Razer Orochi. I own a dell m1530 and wanted a new mouse as the one I currently use is dying. I do some gaming and thought the Razer Orochi would be perfect. However, I live in the UK and the cheapest I can find for it is £67 on amazon. would you guys recommend it for that price? i'd prefer not to buy off ebay, just t let you know.
thanks in advance
-
depends on where you plan to use it. if on a mousepad or even a desktop, its fine. on the couch, floor etc its terrible.
the main reason i bought the orochi was to surf on the couch and not have the usb dongle in the laptop. at this point im seriously thinking of going back to the logitech or M$ with bluetrack... -
I use my laptop mostly on a table but i do some times use it on my bed. is the orochi bad when its on a curved surface or would using on a bed for example be ok?
-
its doesnt like any type of fabric.

The Orochi works fine on my jeans . . .
If you are going to be using it on a table most of the time then it will work great. The Orochi is expensive at $70-80 but in my experience the best notebook mouse on the market (including the non-Bluetooth mice). If you do a Google search you'll find my review. -
thanks for the replies and i have read your review mate, lots of info on it. the only problem is that on the razer site, its $80, which when converted to pounds should only be around £50, but the cheapest i can find is £67. my main concern is wasting my money. would you still recommend it?

If you don't mind a wireless dongle, try the Logitech NX80. I just bought one for a friend and it has a nice feel. -
sorry.
it doesn't like any type of fabric i personally have tried it on. it works but stutters quite a bit.
its a great mouse, just not what works well for me. i would think for the high price it would have better tracking is all. -
The Orochi is worth every penny. It's the best laptop mouse out there, plain and simple. I bought one for my girlfriend for Christmas and she fell in love with it. And it tracks just fine on her couch, although a desk surface or good mouse pad is ideal, of course.
It is one of the most comfortable mice I've ever held, and it manages to fit 7 buttons without being cramped at all. Go for it, I say! -

I was wondering the same thing after seeing some people with the mouse. Do you use a mouse pad with the Orochi or any other mouse? If so what type?
-
I gave my girlfriend a Razer Sphex mouse surface along with it...it tracks quite nicely. A good mouse pad isn't exactly necessary, but it really helps you take advantage of the Orochi's Teflon feet and super-sensitive laser.
-
I'm using Qck mini which is a cloth mousepad with the Orochi
(well I've been using it before I have the orochi)
and it really feels good.. no problem at all -
thanks for all the replies guys, i think i know what my decision is, gonna order it as soon as possible
thanks for all the help guys
-
I use mine mainly for when i'm out on customer sites, and when i'm using it I pair it with a kabuto so in that sense I love this mouse.
I just wish it had better mac support -
-
really, I used it with vx nano too before I got orochi -
Got one and is the best notebook mouse i had in a long time. Plus I also purchase the Razer Kabuto Mouse mat, they are great together.
-
Don't get the Orochi... Bad mouse... I returned mine after 1 day. This is not a gaming mouse... It Lags big time and it is VERY small.. The size of a Logitech nano. Get the Logitech Performance MX. I bit more than the orochi but you won't regret it if you are a gamer. The Mamba also have many bad reviews.... Read my complete review on the orochi under Razer Orochi sucks....
-
just because it didn't fit your hand doesn't give you the right to call it a bad mouse. I've had mine for a couple months now and I love it. I have zero lag issues.
-
And yes, it's compact. It's a laptop mouse; a full-sized mouse like the DeathAdder isn't really made for portability. But I challenge you to find a mouse of the Orochi's size that makes better use of all the available space. I have pretty large hands (read: gorilla paws and sausage fingers), and the Orochi rests quite comfortably in my hand, and I have no trouble using any of the 7 buttons. -
imo it's very simple. the orochi is the best portable bluetooth mouse ever.
As for the ping bs that people use to claim about wireless mice:
"Q: How does the latency of the Razer Mamba compare to other wireless mouse technologies?
A: o Bluetooth – 14ms
o Generic 2.4Ghz – 8ms
o Gaming Grade 2.4Ghz – 2ms
o Razer Mamba – 1ms"
And it's razer that says it. orochi has 14ms on bluetooth like any other bluetooth mouse. Though it's a common misconcept that some wireless mice have ping problems or have worse pings then corded ones.
As for wired mode both mamba and orochi have the same ping as any other razer mouse. -
hey guys, thanks for all the replies,
I bought the mouse and i am loving it, its small, portable, and its fantastic, never had any lag even while gaming on wireless mode, i would highly recommend it. -
Awesome! Glad to see you're enjoying it
-
oh and would just like to say that it works fine on fabrics for me, as long as its flat, im using it right now on my bed
-
glad you're happy with the purchase -
To answer your question. I was playing while wired. The lag (wireless) was so bad that I had no choice but to use the cable just to do simple things as word processing and net surfing. I understand that BT mouse lag, but it get annoying after a while. The mouse is very small and prior of purchasing it, I was using the Nano until I purchase a new mouse. I also Used the Logitech G9 mouse, but I wanted something wireless and good for gaming. The Orochi just wasn't it. Also , allot of people are saying that the orochi is small because is a laptop mouse. That's nonsense. I didn't buy the orochi because of mobility. If you are willing to carry a 10 lb. notebook around then a mouse that weight a few ounces shouldn't matter. This was not my first mouse. In my opinion, it is small and overpriced. I could probably justify paying that amount of money again if it was the size of the Mamba or if it was at the very least rechargeable.
Tell me something. Why pay 70 dollars for a wireless mouse that you can only use wired while gaming? Does that make any sense to you? The Logitech Performance MX mouse has it all for around the same price. If you like your Orochi, I am happy for you. To me is not worth the fancy packaging it came in. -
But it's nonsense to talk about the size..
why would you purchase it if it's not your prefered size anyway?
You should've known the size from all reviews etc..
And you were using Nano before.. make it more unthinkable -
It's hard to see the actual size of a mouse online. I didn't go to the store to look at it. Razer has it on their size next to the Mamba I believe, but I don't have the Mamba so once again is hard to see the actual size. I figured, Gaming mouse, for 70 dollars. How small can it be? I just lost shipping plus 15% Re-stocking fee at new egg. By the way. Do you have a Orochi? Does it lag? I am sure it does. Razer claimed that it lags to conserved power. I don't know about you but I rather change my batteries in a couple of months in exchange of no lagging. Don't get me wrong, it was a nice looking mouse, but it was just not for me. I had several BT mouse and they all lag. I figured that they finally resolve this issue.
-
I have an orochi, and no, it doesn't lag.
-
I also have Nano and loving both. -
-
maybe your bluetooth module got problems instead the mouse?
-
I didn't buy it for mobility. I bought it because is supposed to be a gaming WIRELESS mouse. The Mamba designed is just plain dumb. Why have a wireless mouse if the docking station/receiver, need to connected to the notebook. That will defeat the purpose of having a wireless mouse , Don't you think? The Mamba was designed for desktop unless you are willing to drag the docking station around your house or place of business. I wanted a WIRELESS gaming mouse that doesn't lag. The Logitech performance MX is very nice. It doesn't lag (wireless), It is the right size, programmable and rechargeable. Razer can't beat that.
-
what is the lag issue in your system?? is it lagging in movement, or a milliseconds wake up time from idle/sleep ?
If it's the latter, all bluetooth mouse have it, and it's only in a blink of an eye..
even Zues said he games with wireless mode fine.
If it's lagging in movement.. then you have a problem, whether it's your bluetooth device or the product.
And Orochi is WIRELESS gaming mouse despite of its size -

azl205, I read your comment on my site and I'm going to mirror what other people have said here - there's no room to complain about the size. In my review I had plenty of comparison pics, and other posters on these forums have provided similar pictures. Also, it is advertised as a notebook mouse and therefore you couldn't reasonably expect it to be much different in size than other notebook mice.
Bluetooth mode works seamlessly for me - no discernible lag. I have no issues playing games wirelessly. If you had any noticeable lag on wireless, your devices were not configured properly. -
what you are looking for is something that is able to connect with a bluetooth, which is built in to your computer (tho sometime it doesnt need to be). the special 2.4ghz wireless signals (sometimes 5.6ghz?) are made for each mouse, if that was "built-in" then it would work but no manufacturer of laptops is ever going to do that since each wireless receiver is usually made to work for only a specific series of mice. -
There's nothing wrong with my BT. I had several BT mouse with different computers and they all lagged. I knew the Orochi was going to lag because I reviewed it on the Razer's site, but from all the BT mouse that I had this one was the worst in regards to lagging. I even used and older Logitech BT and the lagging was hardly noticeable. Razer claimed 8ms response time while wireless and 1ms wired. My Orochi took between 2 to 3 seconds to respond and I am not alone on that issue. I saw several reviews of Orochi owners with the same problem. Now I am no Mathematician, but 2 seconds does not equal 8ms.
As for your reviews on the Orochi. I did not see them on your site. I wish I did. In regards to configuration. I usually don't give up on a computer issue this quickly. I gave this mouse a try for a full day. The problem persisted. Look people. I am not trying to start a war here. I read peoples reviews here all the time, good or bad. This is why we are here to learn from each other and to help each other get the best toys available. If you had a good experience with your Orochis, then good for you. My experience was bad. I don't understand why so many of you seem to be angry about it. This is only a discussion and I believe that I haven't insulted anyone in any of my post. I have several reviews of what I think is the best notebook available right now, the Alienware M17x. Many of you responded with bad reviews of the M17x and I had no problem with it. I am not trying to get myself banned here because I like the discussions but we should be allow to express our opinions as long as we keep it professional and don't make it personal. As I stated before, If the moderator thinks that I am completely out of line, he or she has the option to block me from this site. I enjoy the discussion and 99% of the times I won't buy a new toy without reading reviews on this and other forums. I usually take a couple of days to review a new toy, but after seeing so many good reviews on Newegg I placed the order in just a few minutes. That was my mistake and I paid the price. My mistake was resolved with the Logitech performance MX...
-
I didn't see any angry comments.
All the people are trying to help you.
If it's not your bluetooth device that has problem, it's a bad item that can be easily solved by RMA.
edit: or maybe by some firmware update.
And yes, I believe you had a bad purchase from your preferences, not from the product in general. -
It's long gone. I thought about exchanging it, but I wasn't sure if it was worth the time. I just got the Logitech MX... Very nice, I am happy with it. I understand that some people are saying that the Orochi should be wired while gaming and I totally agree, but I wanted something that I could go from net surfing to gaming without stopping to attach it to my computer. The Logitech does just that. I don't know if Razer has one like the MX. Maybe I should go back to their site to see what else they have available. The Razer's are sharp looking and would look really nice next to the Alienware..
-
Hey Guys. I don't mean to change the subject but I just want to share a quick link that I found today. I was checking reviews on my new Logitech mouse and gamepad and I came across this site.
http://www.cybersnipa.com/us/gaming-keyboards/gamepad.php
They have a bunch of nice gaming mouse and they cost allot lest than the Razer and Logitech one. They also have a really nice looking and simple game board. I wish I saw this one first. Don't get me wrong, I like my G13. I think is awesome, but it take some getting used to it. I am currently tweaking it to my liking. The one thing I like about the cybersnipa game pad V2 is that is simple and half the price of the G13. You guys should check it out. -
-
Ever heard of the Razer Mamba?
-
i be getting the orochi soon for my upcoming laptop as i most of the times i'll be using my lappy on the table and also i am getting the razer kabuto for perfection
-
sweet, trust me, you will love the Orochi. when you get it, let us know what the Kabuto is like, i'm thinking about getting a pad and was choosing between the kabuto and the exactmat.

I just ordered my Orochi. Dont you think they can address the power management issue with a simple software patch to customize the autosleep settings?
-
AmazingGracePlayer Notebook Deity
There really isn't a power management "issue." If you turn off the lights, then the batteries will last you a long time. The auto sleep doesn't really conserve you lots of battery. Best solution to save power is to turn off the mouse when you don't need it, or go in wired mode.
-
I think he meant if Razer will address the short idle time to sleep feature. On the Razer website they already stated it's how the mouse was designed to be in the FAQ section and that if it bothers you, just to use the corded mode.
-
I just purchased this and had it overnight on newegg, on Wednesday night. It was suppose to be here today but I think UPS claimed adverse weather condition. Now it's sitting in Louisville, and from 3am last night til now, the weather there is fine!!
The only place where there would of been a weather issue was back in New Jersey where it shipped and it left there with no issue. I contacted newegg and was told to call them back when I recieved the item, to get shipping reimbursement. Now I don't even know when I'm getting my Orochi.... -
I just ordered mine. Guess it'll be with me on Tuesday or Wedbesday. Can't wait.
