Just unboxed my Orochi, and been using it for maybe an hour. It's a fantastic mouse. Having spent the last 6 months using the Microsoft 5000 Bluetooth Mouse, the Orochi us about the same size, slightly wider in the base, but pretty much the same ergonomic under the hand, and very smooth and sensetive tracking on kust about any surface. I'd recommend this mouse to anyone.

I got mine on Saturday, and took a few days to get use to it. I'm not talking about the size, I'm talking about the speed. I don't like using the cord and cordless took a while to get use to. I'm using this for my G73, and the Mamba for my desktop which has a DPI of 5600. Two Razers for me, Mamba for my desktop and Orochi for my G73.
-
I've only used the chord a little because my Lappy has inbuily BT. But I really like the fact that the cord hasn't got the inbuilt resistence that conventional PVC cables have. So you get more freedom of movement with this cable, and I'll keep it for those times when you run out of batteries and you don't have replacements, or for when I'm on a flight, or those occasional instances when you need a legacy device during a f'd up boot. I might go looking for a Razer for my desktop, but probably not for a while. Shame they don't do a mouse mat that will fit in a 13" laptop.
-
Actually the Kabuto is small and thin enough to be stored in between the screen and keyboard when the lid is shut.

I just got my Razer Orochi yesterday and so far it seems great! It is definitely a lot more comfortable than I had expected for its size, and the supposed lag it should have in Bluetooth mode isn't even noticable. I do have a few questions though that I was hoping you guys could help me with:
1) The Orochi is supposed to be coated with a soft satin-like material. Now, I have a DeathAdder and I can tell that one has a very soft feel to it, but my Orochi doesn't really feel anywhere close to that. Is that normal?
2) This may seem dumb, but how do you configure the settings? On the DeathAdder, there was a little icon in the notification bar that would let me change it, on the Orochi there is nothing like that.
3) I'm looking for a good, small mouse pad for my Orochi. The two I have in mind are the Qck Mini and the Kabuto. Any opinions on these two and which is best?
Thanks in advance! -
2)there are orochi drivers that work the same (i think) as the deathadder. go on the razer website and there should be orochi drivers and firmware updates there. it lets u change ur DPI, lighting, and change the functions of buttons.
3)i too am looking for a mouse pad, i was thinking of looking to get a portable, small mat, so i had chosen to get the kabuto because it is thinner then the Qck mini, which means that you can use it as a screen protector. i am now thinking of getting the Razer Vespula because im not going to be taking it around that much, so it may be better. -

No Razer products are worth the price. Just get a Logitech G500 and be happy.
-
3) Same situation, I also want a small mat that is portable. I was thinking the Kabuto because it is it can fit between the keyboard and screen (M1530 has had problems with the keys pressing against the screen sometimes, though I don't think mine has that, I like to be cautious). I was also thinking the Qck Mini because it is much smaller in size. -
Kabuto ordered. Hopefully it'll fit inside my Sony Z.
-
Also, name me one Logitech mouse that is functionally on par with the Razer Orochi. -
Anywhere MX maybe?
I just ordered the Orochi and I hope I don't have the sleep/wake stutter issue. This will be my first Razer mouse (I am usually a Logitech kinda guy)
-
Out of palm grip gaming mice, the DeathAdder and its descendants are simply the best out there. I'm not sure if Razer's 3.5G laser sensor was better, but the infrared sensor they brought in with the DeathAdder was the best sensor on the market at the time, and the 3.5G sensors might well still be the best.
-
Having used Logitech mice forever, and a Microsoft Sidewinder mouse, I must say Razer products are worth the money and maybe then some. The deathadder is my favorite mouse and out performs all other brands I've used... Thinking about picked up an orochi next.
-
if anything, i think i paid mamba money for my orochi because im in the UK, and currently i feel ashamed because i dont have a proper mous epad to fully utilise it on
-
Take a look into the Razer Vespula if you like firm/hard surfaces, it's got two different textured sides for speed vs. control. If you like soft, check out the Razer Kabuto or SteelSeries QcK.

Whhhha? Why 3? Dude, hook me up? XD

just thought I'd repost this awesome image that aznguyen316 took of his M11x, Kabuto, and Orochi.

Just got my Orochi (and very first Razer mouse) this am.
I must say that the mouse is very nice and the packaging at least makes you feel better about spending $75 on a small mousehahaha
I really like the feel and the tracking but the mouse is quite small. I wish it were a tad bit bigger. I would have went with the Mamba had the base not been ginormous.
I needed something more portable for my W870 but still would have liked a little bit more to it.
OVerall, I am quite happy with this mouse -
Kind of wish the Razer logo lit up on the Orochi
I think I will try the Mamaba next -
I am interested in this mouse. Can the click and the menu buttons be reversed. I downloaded the manual and did not know if this feature is available.
-
-
Thanks Zues I was changing batteries about once a month on the microsoft 5000 notebook mouse. I am left handed and run my click, menu reversed. I bought my laptop with bluetooth so I would have no need to put dongles hanging out of the left side. I am not into games but I can see the usefulness of programming the buttons for what I need. My wife was in a hurry last week and chased the bird into my room to keep him out of trouble and he pulled up some keys on my laptop and pecked my mouse until it fell of the stand into a glass of water.

I am thinking of getting the mamba and just using it in wired mode. The base is too big for my bag. lol
Would that be a waste? -
It's got a braided fiber cable to prevent snagging and such. I've been quite happy with mine, and before that I was happy with my 1,800 DPI original DeathAdder for over a year.
Also, it helps that the DeathAdder costs about half of what the Mamba does. -
-
I saw that. Reminds me of a decepticon
-
Here's a couple side-by-sides of the Mamba and DeathAdder, to show you just how similar they are:
-
Thanks for the comparison!
I guess I can roll with the deathadder then.
I just find the mamba sexier for some reason... -
Probably the two extra buttons and the redesigned scroll wheel.
-
Yep. I think the scroll wheel looks pretty slick on the Mamba (same as the Orochi I have).
-
The Wireless mouse is a bit....larger?
-
-
Nah, they're physically identical in terms of dimensions. You might be thrown off a bit by the fact that the Mamba is slightly closer to the camera in the first photo.
-
)
-
LOL
you can see the tech spec for dimensions are the same for both:

128mm (length) x 70mm (width) x 42.5mm (height) -
I have a lag issue with this mouse that isn't the sleep/lag thing. When playing Civ V for about an hour it starts to get major cursor lag. After it starts it won't stop, so it isn't the mouse falling asleep. Any ideas on what could be causing this?
-
Try reinstalling your Bluetooth drivers. Does this happen only in wireless mode, or does it happen when the mouse is plugged in via USB as well?

Im pretty happy with the Orochi but was not happy with the Mamba.
Mamba: Too big, not well shaped at all for a "claw" grip. Definitely a palmer mouse. No noticeable increase in performance compared to my tried and true MX518.
Back on topic about the Orochi.
Im using the Orochi daily to test for how long the batteries last so I can do a little mini review of it.
I got it on sale for $50.00 and I think it was worth that. Sucks I cant use my Playstaion 3 controller and the Orochi at the same time on bluetooth but that is not the Orochi's fault.
For the full MSRP of $75.00 for the Orochi I would have to say its overpriced, however if you have the funds and thats not as much money for you as it is for me it could be worth it. -
-
It only happens in wireless mode and only after gaming for awhile. It only seems to happen with Civ V so far. Fallout: New Vegas works fine for hours at a time. I will see about updating the bluetooth drivers, but I am pretty sure I have the latest ones. I don't have a cooling pad or anything. I got this mouse for Christmas and I have to say that I am extremely pleased with it except for this one issue.

I couldn't stand the orochi, way to small for long gaming sessions. Gave it to my girlfriend, fits her hand perfect. Then got a death adder( awesome mouse) then I found my true love... Steelseries xai
