I personally prefer the 2000, if you read and look at the pics youll see that mine is a 15.4 inch on it and it sits fairly nicely while you would notice over hang with the nc1000. Also the fan area of the nc2000 is the size of the nc1000. Best bet is find a site like www.shopbot.ca ( but an american one if your american) find lowest price and if you dont trust the shop call newegg or a shop you trust to match the price. Thats how I got it for 56$ CDN

What about the size? Wouldn't the NC2000 be too big for a 15.4" laptop? I ordered a XPS M1530 yesterday and I want to buy one of this coolers, but I am not sure which one to pick between 1000 and 2000...

Look at the first page people. That is a 15.4 on the 2000 while youll have hang and less cooling area with the 1000. hence the NC2000 performs better cooling and also has a better fit.

Interesting... I'll look if I can find it online.

Also, regarding your signature (G5 and the other mouse). Do you recommend them?

I have a MX518 in my desktop, and I'm looking for a mouse for when my laptop arrives.

I have been thinking in... Logitech G5/G7/G9. The G7 is wireless but it only has 1 side button (i like two like the mx518 or the new g5) and the g9 is too expensive... (and I don't know if it's comfortable like the g5 / mx518 )

What do you think? It's my first lap and I don't know if I should buy a wired/wireless mouse...

Personally I would recommend the G5 I picked it up for less then 30$. I found the weights useful aswell as the dpi change. The grip is also impressive and the 2 side buttons are far better then the 1. The G7 has issues at times with wireless ( intereferene ) making it hard to run and the one side button is a turn off. The best thing is go to a store and feel between the models your interested in and choose the most comfortable one. One thing to note is if you care that much about looks the G5 looks like a monster with scales or somthing, G7 like a toy car, G9 ?Original?

The razor deathadder that harpreet1988 suggested yes it is a stunning mouse except in my expierence (3 of them) I found them very shoddy. I snapped the cord on the one in the store and also one of my own. The other two i ruined the left (main) button within 3 weeks and ended up returning it every time. They are a VERY popular mouse on these forums but for me no.

I just recieved my NC1000 and I can tell you it fits my M1330 (13.3") perfectly, although there is still a lotta room left at the back and a tad on the sides.. Other than that, I can tell you that an M1530 will definitely hang over the side of an NC1000.. I'd say NC2000 is the way to go for a 15.4" notebook

BTW Zalman makes a top-quality product.. this thing is SOLID.. and the aluminum is *brrrr* cold to the touch.. haha

Just got my NC2000 yesterday and this thing is a champ. Right now, i'm idle at 33c on the cpu and 39gpu. Max loads on the cpu and gpu are 46c and 65c, respectively.

Now I am using RMClock to undervolt my cpu and maxing it's p-state to run at a max 1.6 ghz (T7250 2.0ghz) @ .9625v. This signifigantly lowers my overall cpu temp and prevents it from getting in the mid 50c range.
I notice no difference in FPS in games or overall performance.

Also, I use i8kfangui to control my fan speed (I'm anal about mechanical noise), or lack thereof. With my current temps, i do not need any of the fans in my laptop to run essentially providing me with a passive notebook even while gaming!

Well, I left my laptop on all night to see what my idle temp was using the Zalman and the cpu was at an amazing 25c @ idle. That is really cool. Room temp at my house is at 23c(73F). This thing is awesome!!!

I recently purchased the Zalman 2000 for my Dell M1530 and have not seen any decreases in temperatures so far, both idle and otherwise. Any ideas as to why?

Interesting Dabu first off how long have you tested it idle/stress and which programs are you using and do you have a constant room temperature?

The thermostat right outside my room says 74. I have been testing for a few days now for a few hours at a time. I have used a combination of PCWizard, Notebook Hardwarde Control, and Rivatuner.

Dabu: Interesting. Most 1530 owners are quite satified. Try CPUZ and HD tune and continue with Riva tuner. Double check your speed is at maximum and try and move the notebook around a little bit on the mat. Also you could try running without the mat and touching the bottom areas find hot spots chuck it on the mat for the same period of time touch the same spots and if cool you know its doing somthing.. Since if the bottom is cool it means its keeping the somthing inside cool aswell.

Thanks for all your help X2P.

So far what I am finding (With Zalman 2000) is that under normal pressure (Web Browsing, etc) my GPU ranges from 55-65, CPU from 34-44, and hard drive stays steady at 31. If I turn the Zalman off during these conditions, the temperatures may average a couple degrees higher at most, but they are still within the same range.

While playing Assasian's Creed the temperatures with the Zalman ranged: GPU (72-74), CPU(57-60), Hard Drive(32-33). Here the Zalman exceled a little better. The hard drive without the Zalman was at a steady 39 (Great Performance by Cooler), the GPU only went up two degrees to 75-76, and the CPU also only increased on average by 1 or two degrees.

I don't know if I am just expecting to much out of any cooler, but for $70 I expected cooling on the GPU and CPU more than one or two degrees.

dont feel too bad. i spent 90 on my nzxt cryo lx and didnt see it lower the idle temperatures more than 2 degrees. but the max temp i have seen without compared to with the cooler is where it excels. without temps: cpu 57C, gpu 72C, hdd 53C. with cooler: cpu 53C, gpu 67C, hdd 48C

Every system is different. But it is still in my opinion that the work it does is quite useful for lengthening the life of your laptop.

Personally I looked at the bottom side today and the fans were white, then i lifted my notebook off the holes were white aswell. Going to go buy some air in a can and try and blow it... Amazing how dusty Japan is >.< all that in 2 days of constant running... should probably open up my vostro aswell....

In general, if you are gaming with your system, it is recommended to have one, or for any reason the laptop runs really hot. I have used a cooler. I noticed that coolers only lower the temperature slightly when under heavy load like when you are playing newer games, but where it does shine is when you are idling, doing some less intensive work, or playing a older game that doesn't over work the system.

My old cooler just died, I might pick up Zalman NC2000, it looks great on your review X2P. Reps+
    Plus, I have a Vostro 1500 as well. :)

Has anyone thought about putting little dust covers over the fan vents?

I would make it ALOT easier to clean in the long run.

Its cooling efficiency will go down if you put a dust filter. It will restrict the air flow to the notebook

The NC2000 is best for 15.4 and up but the NC1000 is perfect for you! it would fit great! As seen they are the same thing with different sizes. It fits a m1330 comfortably so your M1210 should fit very well.
