Hi guys, I'm a newbie here and a newbie to notebooks. Me and my wife just ordered Vaio SR (me) & CS (her) and I would like to know if the NC2000 works best with the above notebooks. I haven't seen the bottom part of the notebooks (still built) yet so no idea if the vents on our notebooks will match on the NC2000.
    Thanks.

I would recommend you read the notebook coolers guide maybe try and grab a few pics online of the bottom but where do you plan to use the coolers, is noise a factor and how portable should it be?

Does the zalman suck air from the sides or does it suck air from the bottom?
Reason for this is that, I mainly work on a clothed table and cloth is not a very good heat dissipating material, more like an insulator. I would like to know before I press the "buy now" button.

It sucks air from the bottom but it has fee, is it just a cloth on your table or is it a poofy cloth? If its not poofy then i dont see a problem

how do you know if its a poofy cloth? I know it isn't as thick as those cloths over the dinner tables you see in restaurants. It also has abit of a polyester feel to it as well.

Sounds like a silk like cloth over it, poofy would make it kind of like a blanket or so a bit thick and would block air ventalation

Hey, I just got my hand on the NC2000. Really nice, seems to work, but is it normal that the airflow is uneven? I mean, the airflow on the left side is stronger than on the right side, which is really weak

Good to hear but its not normal, there have been 2 similar cases on here which I believe the people just asked for an exchange from the shop. Might want to give them a try

    Hi X2P,

are you saying the airflow should be even across the whole cooler? Mine has weaker airflow coming out on the right side too but it still seems to do the job fine.

If it is not a minor issue then it should be fine. If it is really noticeable it may b e an issue. In a way it could be good as MANY notebooks have more vents on the right. It is kind of weird IMO as the fans are slightly to the left of the cooler.

X2P , saw the review on Zalman NC2000.Using for Dell 1520 which is same as vostro 1500 ,I assume..Plan to buy it but the priority of a notebook cooler which i'm hoping is quiet.Working mostly in a quiet room.As I saw in the review Cons: The sound by the light. What does that mean ?

Sorry I am not sure, maybe someone else can help? You could try and call them maybe?

It was a high pitched noise but I should edit the review and note it disappeared after a small bang :) I think it was just a little glitch in my specific model as I am the only one to have EVER noted it.

I just got my exchange after spending $20 to ship it back and the replacement have the same problem: weak airflow. On 'High', the left side is able to lift a tissue but the right is not able to do so. There's barely a 2-3 degrees improvement on this. I'm really disappointed about this. :( I guess I'll grab a NC1000 at my local store instead of getting it online (bought it from DirectCanada).

I find it weird that there's only 2 fans but 4 places for fans. Since one fan is on the left and the other one is center-right, this should the airflow stronger on the left?

Read this first and find out where the vents are on your notebook; the NC2000 will cool more of the lower area and the Cryo LX will cool mostly the upper area.

As for sound, the NC2000 is more silent than the Cryo LX.

    Zalman ZM-NC2000B with Alienware M17

    Hello guys,

I just ordered my first AW-m17 (hooray :D).

Now i was wondering if anyone had experience with the Zalman NC-2000 cooler on this laptop?

Does it fit well? Does it cool good when you use your notebook mostly for gaming?

I did a search but found some contradicting answers.

    Hope someone can help.

    Rgds

Can the NC2000 be used on one's lap comfortably?
Or does it need to be placed on a flat surface?

Hi guys, I'm new here and I have couple of questions so I'm hoping that you will be able to help me.
Yesterday I bought a NC 2000 for my toshiba p300d,and I hardly see any difference in the temp. is my positioning bad or the nc 2000 just isn't for my laptop ? On the picture is the ''imaginary nc 2000'' as I positioned it.

Wow, alignment is perfect. How much of a drop are you seeing. I recommend that you attempt cleaning your fan(s) out with pressurized air.

Yesterday I spent the whole day testing and measuring temps, it turns out that the zalman does work, at idle the temps drop about 6-7 °C and at full load 7-8°C. When I tested it for the 1-st time I was really sloppy and I couldn't really see the results. The thing that worries me is that the laptop is new,I have it for about 2 months, and the temps at idle are 50°C, at full load it went up to 93 °C (without the zalman) should I try undervolting ?

    I have 2 questions:

    1. Can I use an ipod wall adapter to get extra power????

    2. Would this be ok on my lap, or would I need to carry a lap desk to set it on?

The cooler is only going to use/draw the amount of power the fans are rated for it will not affect the fans. If you need more power for the other usb port you can connect the cooler to 2 ports via a custom cable or a wall adapter but the wall adapter kills mobility and taking up an extra laptop port makes enough sense to just use the laptop port.

I use it in my lap in bed, its fine with the feet not out.

I have this cooler for my Asus W90Vp, works great for me. It's quiet, not awkward and keeps the laptop noticably cooler. I use the right side usb port almost exclusively and have no issues. Never have a need to use the left one, not that I ever thought to try it out often.
