I'm going to step in before a problem occurs,
If you hate Razer, or are here to troll, bash etc stay out or there will be consequences. Keep it civil.
--------------- ------------------ --------------------
I use a DeathAdder (original) that has lasted me two years with more abuse than any mouse should endure including being dropped, stepped on, crushed and traveled hundreds of thousands of KM and its still going and looks not too worn. -
The Happy Swede Notebook Evangelist
Yeah, what X2P said. This is a thread to discuss what you LIKE about Razer...
-
I love Razer.
I want a Razer Talon -
I love Razer too. I have the Vespula, Carcharias and Nostromo.
-
Hey, do any of you have the mamba? If so, what do you think of it? I was considering getting it and the razer ironclad because they're both very classy. I debated that tron mouse, and love the lighting, but it is corded. Also, what do you guys think of the razer black widow ultimate?
-
I love Razer too, they make the best gaming products for sure, and unlike other gaming brands, they add cool LEDs to make their products look cool. I own the Mamba, Blackwidow Ultimate and the Megladon headset. Oh and a Destructor mousepad.
-
The Happy Swede Notebook Evangelist
Well about the black widow, it should be a real great state of the art gaming keyboard, i would have bought it. but i bought the lycosa just a little while before they announced it. Another thing that i REALLY like about razer is the packaging xD and that some products (Megalodon, Destructor and others) come with Awesome carrying cases, and Razers design is IMO always Kick Arsch! Is anybody looking forward to the Razer Switchblade? it looks awesome!
EDIT: i just looked up the Razer Talon.... Damn! :S well its just a concept right? or do they actually plan on producing it?
EDIT: i just found it was a april fools joke, but god damn that looks like a lot of graphical work for an april fools joke. -
Razer Talon's an April Fools joke just like last year's Razer Venom
-
The Happy Swede Notebook Evangelist
Ohh yeah, the venom
i actually remember that one. Razer Snake oil http://assets.vr-zone.net/11785/talon-unleash-apm_snakeoil.jpg xD

I doubt anyone would want something that taps into your nerves

Well its Razer to hell with it. Ill do it xD naaw just kidding

Wow,a Razer fanatic, hard to come by these days. Here's a Mamba on Ironclad,G700 thrown in as cameo.
-
I've had good experiences with all the Razer products I own, and I'll probably buy more from them in the future.
I own two DeathAdders; an original 2007 1,800 DPI model and a 3,500 DPI refresh model from 2009. I used the first one for almost two years and it's still going strong in the hand of a friend of mine I donated it to when I replaced it. The newer model worked just as well for about a year, and another friend is currently putting it to good use.
I currently have a Mamba that I bought refurbished last year for $70, and I couldn't be happier. I love the form factor that it shares with the DeathAdder, but it's got additional rubbery grips for the thumb and pinkie. The DPI buttons are conveniently placed in a way that they're easy to press, but you won't accidentally hit them when you don't want to. I just charge the battery on the dock overnight, and I've never had the battery run out on me.
I have the old eXactMat (it's what the Vespula replaced). It's a solid anodized aluminum mouse pad with two surfaces; Speed and Control. I use it on the Speed side virtually all the time, but Control is nice as well for some pixel-precise Photoshop work. I bought this one in 2008, I think, and it's still smooth as ever.
The Orochi is my mobile mouse. I got it as a Christmas gift a couple years ago, and it's served me well. 4,000 DPI and everything else you'd expect from a gaming mouse in wired mode, with a compact 3 foot detachable cable, and the convenience of Bluetooth. Came with a nice travel pouch for the mouse and the cable, as well.
On the go, I carry a Vespula mouse pad. Same concept as the eXactMat, smooth and textured Speed and Control sides...the Vespula is made of plastic instead of aluminum, so it's much lighter, and it's very slightly smaller as well. I slip it into my backpack next to my notebook and use it wherever I need it. Since it's a hard surface, I don't have to rely on a desk or anything, so I can use it on a couch, bed, carpeted floor, or whatever.
I have the Carcharias headset, but I didn't buy it. I won it in Razer's Random Loot Giveaway on Black Friday of 2009. It's a pretty solid stereo headset. Very comfortable and it weighs next to nothing, and I like the smooth sliding adjustment mechanism. Sound quality is good, and the mic is good.
I also have the Belkin n52te, which was designed in collaboration with Razer, and using Razer driver software. It's been discontinued, but recently re-released by Razer themselves as the Nostromo. It's a left-hand keypad with 15 keys, an 8-direction D-pad, a scroll wheel, and a thumb trigger, all independently bindable to any key or macro. It conforms to your hand a lot better than a "normal" keyboard. Once you get used to this thing, it's hard to go back to a regular keyboard.
What can I say? I've always enjoyed their products and had good luck with them. I've tried a few other brand products in the past and didn't like them as much or had trouble with them. -
Honest question here (not trolling):
I have heard from a vocal group of (former) Razer owners that Razer products have a poor reliability rate, and tend to break down after 12-18 months of use.
How are your experiences with reliability? -
Kent1146,
I've heard the same concerns recently. As most around here know, I'm typically a pretty happy Razer camper. I own a handful of their mice, and like them quite a bit. I've tried other mice brands in the past, and none have won me over.
All I have however, are mice, so it's tough for me to speak to anything else. I use a Logitech G11 keyboard, and have been abusing it alongside my deathadder for the better part of 4 years now. -
I had to replace my Carcharias once, after about a year and a half or so, because the microphone stopped working. They had me take a photo of the cord cut in half (as evidence that I wouldn't just re-sell the old one), and they shipped me a new one. Not bad, considering I never even paid for it
The Carcharias they replaced mine with is still working fine, about a year later.
My n52te is also still good, but I don't know if you want to include that since it's under the Belkin name.
tl;dr - out of five (six?) electronic Razer products (not including the two hard mouse pads), I've had to replace one. The replacement process was pretty straightforward. I never had to pay any shipping costs. -
Meh~ I have a Razer Mamba, Razer Moray and Razer Ferox ._. All of them are working fine. Mamba was since 2 years ago and Moray was last year. Never needed any replacement.
Except now my mouse's middle click sometimes does a double and triple click instead of a single click at times though >.> Perhaps i should clean this thing -

Great to see so many other Razer enthusiasts
and so far i have had no bad experiences with razer, except with some delivery(but i blame that on UPS...). and does other anybody than me really hope that Razer puts the Switchblade into production??? and with the reliability, my Razer products are holding up great! none of them have even began to look "Used". And i just gotta say that the razer Megalodon has some of the best sound quality that i have heard in a headset!!
EDIT: Ohh and Mastershroom, Great to hear from somebody who won one of the razer giveaways! ; )
DOUBLE EDIT: Another thing i love about razer is that they have humor. This is straight from the Razer talon´s site: "The Razer Talon will start overloading your nerve endings within 2ms of turning on the Talon NerveLoad SysOps module, enabling you to be 'one' with your game, and giving you a greater awareness and enhanced sense.
Prepare to be not two, but over ten steps faster than your opponents in-game. Feel the power when your crosshairs are placed on your opponent's head before you even think to zoom in. Experience blistering speed when all of your units are queued before your enemy has even farmed their Vespene. Cast spells faster than Swifty while taking on more PVP opponents in the arenas. Hell, he'll be the one making videos for you next.
Extreme gaming at it's best. Right at your very fingertips" and "Mock physics and laugh at science with our built in throttle control. Your speed is only limited by the physical rupture point of your bones and tissue.
Calibrate and control your maximum APM speed with our state of the art software. Run anywhere from 500APM onwards. Anything less is way too slow." That sure made me laugh ; ) -
i love my ironclad and deathadder!
-
Sporting a DeathAdder and Goliathus Control Edition :3
Best combo of mouse+pad I've ever own. QCK mat wasn't to my liking. -
I've got a Razor Lacheise and a Naga. I'm not a big fan of the Lacheise, I don't find it very comfortable and it's pretty worn after 2 years of use.
I do love my Naga though. Even for non-rpg games, I still find it useful and it's the most comfortable mouse I've ever had. -
Every product i had from razer was good for me.
Razer diamondback plasma ed my first razer product and still works like new
Than i think my 2nd product was the razer mamba which works good but it just got replaced by a xai so was a waste of money too be but the product is good nothing wrong with it.
Than the razer orochi and i use that every day sense a year now on my laptops and now on my m11xAnd works perfect and works like new.
And now the razer black widow ut which i preordered it and got it on release day or couple days after and i love it and have no problems with it, It also replaced another known brand mechanical keyboard Xarmor x9bl which is also good but i prefer the black widow over it and the u9bl still get used on my server
Im also not a fanboy as you can see i don't have really much of razer products but i do like their products.
Every company has its up and downs, And bad batch's. -
I'm still waiting for my Onza Tournament Edition Controller.. I'm excited to get it.

@The reliability question...
I've had a Razer Copperhead, Naga, and Naga Molten Edition so far. The products are by far the best on the market in terms of functionality but the reliability, quality control and customer service could use some improvements.
The Copperhead worked fine until it stopped accepting mouse clicks after about 2 years. It was a good mouse with the exception of the two right side buttons were virtually useless in actual gaming and the mouse was rather uncomfortable to hold over long periods of time. The drivers were also pretty garbage, the mouse would have to be unplugged for cold-booting almost every time I turned on my PC, which is a pain when your back panel is not easily accessible.
The Razer Naga is great for WoW and is (to date) the only mouse I would use to play MMOs. It does have a lot of problems, though, the X and Y tracking often get "locked" into one direction quite often, which is extremely annoying when trying to pull off tricky maneuvers or just playing FPS games in general and can easily wipe raids.
The Razer Molten Edition came in the mail for me after I pre-ordered it on their website. I was home for two months for Christmas and it was under the tree so I didn't pack my desktop Naga. The shipping to Canada cost an extra (surprise 1!) $20, which I accepted (and probably should have expected). When I plugged in the mouse and was finally ready to run it through its paces, I found out that pressing either the "1" or "2" buttons on the side output "12", rendering the mouse fairly useless. I don't know if this is a common issue.
I sent three emails to Razer over the course of two weeks before receiving a reply. Once I did, I got the copy paste driver re-install email. I flashed the onboard firmware to the latest, then to an older version and back to the latest, wiped & reinstalled drivers completely off my computer, even tried it on multiple computers (one of them being a Windows Vista laptop) and nothing fixed the problem.
Once they finally issued me an RMA. Meanwhile, having not been able to really play games on my laptop at home, I returned to College where I shipped the package for (surprise 2!) $20. Of course, they needed to send me a replacement, and couldn't issue a refund like I had hoped.
Last week it finally came in, back to my parents house which I had specifically asked for it not to be sent there. Lo and behold, (surprise 3!) another $20 shipping charge, followed by another $15 shipping charge for my parents to mail it to me. When I opened the box I expected an apologetic letter and perhaps some free swag (as I notified them how much of an inconvenience and cost this was for me) but the box was virtually empty and I never even received an email or anything about it again.
So it's sitting here right now waiting to be unboxed finally, 3 months and $75 more than I had intended on paying for it.
So out of 3 Razer products I've actually used, all 3 have essentially failed, and only one in a reasonable amount of time. Reliability is a huge issue for Razer products, and quality control is too. The company itself could use some work.
Time will only tell how this new mouse fairs. Wish me luck. -
Love the razer as well! Good quality products. I have been using razer products for 8 years and counting.
Currently and previously owned: copperhead, abyssus, destructor, moray+, megasoma and lycosa -

i own a razer mamba and i really like the mouse. the only thing i do not like about it is the disappointing firmware updates. i believe the last one i used was either 1.03 or 1.06 (which ever it was before they tried to correct the jitter) i noticed that once i used a firmware higher then the one i am currently on the polling rate would be much lower which is very noticeable for me since i really got used to the maximum rate.
other then that little firmware debacle its a great mouse and im glad i bought it (could have been a little cheaper though $120)
-
@OP, How many products have you actually USED rather than just SEEN?
I bought 2 Mambas about a year ago (last Easter) and they still both work fine.
The quality of some of their products is so-so. Their mousepads are excellent (used Megasoma, Kabuto and Goliathus and still good after a year, Destructor good after 2+ years), even tho Megasoma looks nothing like on their picture (doesn't glow). That's the best of their products, imo.
Mamba is great but ridiculously overpriced if you pay the full price (I would never pay that much). It's a top quality mouse otherwise. The only complaint - it doesn't give alarm when the battery is about to today - unlike Logitech G7 I use at work, for example.
The Lycosa keyboard is OK - or mediocre at best if you're not using it in the full dark. You cannot see the keymarks if the backlighting is off and after a year of regular use (and I am not even gaming that hard) some of the keys have begun fading away. Again overpriced vs e.g. the Logitech keyboards in that range. The backlighting is just right when it's dark but it's otherwise too weak. There is a DIY fix somewhere online that includes soldering some resistor I believe to ramp up the intensity. The keyboard is OK for gaming, but for office work (which is where I currently have it) isn't that great. But then again much better than $10 crap I could use as an alternative.
Their earphones, Razer Moray, are decent for non-pro use and come with a very nice pouch. -
The Happy Swede Notebook Evangelist
I have the Razer Lycos, Razer DeathAdder, Razer Megalodon and the Razer Destructor. Which i all own.... and i have used my friends mamba and tested the Naga too.
EDIT: Ohh and @unreal25 when did i give you the idea that i had not used any razer products but only seen them??? i dont recall saying anything about me not having them myself... and it would be a little silly to make a post called I ♥ Razer if i did not own a single razer product myself... -
Just wondering... because they aren't THAT great imo, in comparison with other brands. They look stylish and the products come packed equally fancy as if you bought something from Apple. Quality wise, some of their stuff is great - but nothing special (you can get equally good stuff from other manufacturers). Their logo is cool.
-
I like my Mamba and Vespula. But I'm not for their sounds hehe.

However so far, the DeathAdder is superb palm-grip mouse and in general, I would vouch it if people would live to use the DeathAdder with the default Windows drivers with the latest mouse firmware. -
The Happy Swede Notebook Evangelist
Even though i know that a lot of people have had problems with razer, I myself have never had a problem. and so far i find the quality of their products to be excellent! but of course nothings perfect, and even though Razer might have their rough spots, I still love them ; )
-
I like my razer deathadder. I have been using the 3.5g for a while now. I gave my original 1800 dpi deathadder to my friend and it is still going strong. My eXactmat held up for a few years before the speed side started to wear out but I just switched to the control side and I like it.
-
Razer has been amazing for me. I currently own the Destructor, Lachesis, and Carcharias (thinking of bumping up the Megalodon) I also used to own a Deathadder but it died out on me, and when I called razer about it they let me bump up the the Lachesis for free =) great company, great products. I have put my gear to the extreme and they always perform at a level I expect.
-
I really like Razer also i have the megalodon with leather ear cups a naga with Teflon pads which tbh i bought just becouse it looks cool, but actually since then the keys on the side have been used alot :O and a vespula pad because i get sore wrists when i game,im one of the few people i know who like mouse pads with cushions lol.i have a rocat apuri too which looks pretty cool and shines blue like all my other gear xD.I must say the quality of everything is excellent.next i want the onza

ViciousXUSMC Master Viking NBR Reviewer
I have owned or do own.
Razer Mamba - Felt it was overpriced, too heavy, not comfortable at all, and did not like the fact you had to use the entire dock for wireless instead of just s small dongle making it impossible to use for laptop packing.
Sold it to somebody else for a cheap price I did not even want to keep it.
Razer Orochi - Like this mouse, not too many bluetooth mice out there that are high performance. Good size good feel. But alas defective mouse goes comotose on me at random and eats thru a brand new set of batteries way faster than Razer even claims the minimum life to be with just very casual office type work. Razer gave me a super hard time to replace it, wanted me to pay return shipping when it was defective when I received it making a huge "caution" sign for me to not do business with razer in the future if I can help it.
Razer Nostromo - Incredibly overpriced for what it is, not good ergonomics since you can not move the hand rest to a custom position and have to choose one of 2 settings both of witch are not right for me. D-pad totally sucks and the way you push the space bar is not ergonomic either. Definitely d not get get a real keyboard instead if you have the option. Its ok for laptop packing though since its smaller than a full keyboard and its only saving grace IMO.
Razer Blackwidow Ultimate Collectors Edition - Took a chance with this knowing there have been reports of build quality issues on the keyboard, but was too tempted by the looks and features. Sure enough got burned again right out of the box within 5 minutes of use discovered major flaws that make the keyboard worse to use than a $20 vanilla when this is supposed to be a $140 ultimate mechanical keyboard. This time did not have to deal with razer since I just got it from newegg and was within the return period. Its going back for a refund instead of an exchange because I am done with razer.
I have only had; bad products, bad service, bad prices, and problems.
I think most of their stuff sells just because of name and style rather than its actually being good. Anything they have that is good has a better alternative from another company that is going to cost less or be built better. -

And for the mamba ya i agree that its over priced pretty much like any other mouse over 100$ But its pretty much the most comfortable mouse i ever used used which i own alot of mouses even the old 1.1 Microsoft mouse and my main mouse is a xai. But ya i like the xai more for the performance and features. But the comfortable part will be different for everyone.
And for the orochi i use it every day but its mostly used as a wire mouse with no problems because i don't have Bluetooth in my m11x r2, But when i used Bluetooth with it on my asus 1201n i didn't have any problems and the battery lasted pretty long but not as long as too say a Logitech revolution rx but that's just wireless so that's pretty much why.
Just seems like its a hit or a miss with razer, But i haven't had a problem with there products or service.
But it does seem like there blackwidow might've went down hill after the first batch because the build quality and feel and pretty much everything is better than other mech keyboards i own which i own 4 of them, Xarmor U9BL which is a quality board and company but the black widow i have beats it, Than a old dell 101 alps mech which is solid too but again my black widow beats it than a abs m1 which alot of people say its junk but i haven't had a problem with that either But ya black widow again wins there too.
Could be just luck lol sense i hardly have any problem with any thing that's electronic lol
edit
Just saw your video review ya mine doesn't have that problem at all and none of the keys are shifted either. Hopefully they keyboard will last so i don't++ have too rma it and get one of the new ones that might give me a problem.. -
Ive had the deathadder, lachesis, tarantula and 2 oversized razer pads (control & speed). They are all about 2 years old now and still working fine.
WASD key markings are starting to wear on the keyboard though.. -
I recently got my razer mamba and I love it!
._. only thing I don't like is the oil marks sticking to the mouse itself.
Is there anyway to get it off? -
I got a lot of Razer stuff.
Mice: Razer Naga, Deathadder Respawn, 2x Razer Boomslang Collectors ed (one kept unopened), Razer Copperhead
Headset: Razer megalodon
Keypad: Razer Nostromo -
Diamondback 3g it rocks!!! And the destructor!!!!!!!!!!!!

I enjoy the Razer products I own. I have a Razer Orochi that I use with my Alienware m11x. I also have a Razer Iron Clad for my desktop and a Razer BlackWidow Ultimate. My desktop mouse is a R.A.T. 9, best mouse I've ever used maybe Razer can make something similar.
i razer!
