again, any chance of a youtube video of using this ?
it would be handy for us less gifted in these dark arts.
-
what exactly is unclear? maybe i can help without a youtube video.
-
what the best basic setup for someone starting out with the software?
-
there isnt a "best setup" with 3820tray you apply diffrent settings to your notebook via profiles.
create one for i.e
gaming -> with overclocking and switch to ATI and switch powerprofile to high perfomance
public surfing -> disable lan, set wifi to "auto ip" set powerprofile to energysaving
...
after adding profiles you can apply them from contextmenue in tray or hotkeys -
Still getting a lot of ACPI errors with this version and the cpu fan control has it's quirks, works fine one moment and full overdrive the next ( didn't even know it could spin so fast as it did lol), although it worked fine in v11~
-
What File from setpll are you supposed to import?
-
@superantew
click "default setpll" in options
update v14:
-bugfixes in fancontrol (acpi errors)
-added tooltip for supported fsb's when using setpll -
DONT USE ATI FAN Fancontrol !!!
3820tray can only get a temp from driver when ATI is active.
BUT sometimes when its not Active it get hot ?!?! driverbug ??
this is a problem because 3820tray keeps the ATI fan @ 0% -
Hey, You Program is great So Far
I have managed to overclock my cpu with setpll but still what file am i supposed to import to 3820tg tray?
And there seems to be some bugs i can just set fsb at 140 and 162 nothing in between??
Why is that?
and Please anyone know why i cant overclock my Gpu?? there is just not an option neither in atitool, not in msi afterburner or anything else ive tried is it possible to overclock with the drivers from acers ati drivers from there webpage?
Or do i need to download from ati? i have the 6550m Card
Awesome job on the tray Brah.. Back in the days i bought a 1810tz just because i could set the fanspeed with that tray program
-
I tried the 3820tray.v14 yesterday and it somehow killed QuietHDD functionality. Even though I exited the 3820tray.v14 and restarted QuietHDD I couldn't get rid of the dreaded clicking noise that had come back. After I rebooted the computer it was back to normal quiet mode.
-
update v15:
-Fixed the ATI disabled but HOT problem !!! 3820tray set the ATI Fanspeed to auto if ATI temp == 0°C
@superantew
use m11xR2 as clockgen when using setpll should work (on the newer models) if not you have to try for yourself what pll is in your 3820tg
@Lennong
disable/enable "Disk Powersaving" in 3820tray. its maybe similar to QuitHDD you cant use both. -
Yes, but even though I disable and close the tray software I still cannot get back QuietHDD function until I do a reboot. I thought it possibly could warrant a measure to prevent others from messing up and generating bug reports.
-
you dont need quiethdd.3820tray can do it instead. profile based
powersave enabled = silent
powersave disabled = loud but fast -
Thanks
I Know what im supposed to use But.. haha the third time Asking what FILE am i supposed to import to 3820tg tray? From the Setpll map? Now im using the file = setpll.bat
But i seems like im just able to do 140fsb and 162fsb..... ?
and For overclocking the 6550m? Is it anything i have to do before? because now its not possible to overclock my card with the Acer ati drivers !
nice program

Download msi afterburner. Once installed goto the directory where you installed it. Open the folder, goto MSIAfterburner.cfg. Right click open and choose notepad in the selected programs to edit. Scroll down and Find "UnofficialOverclockingEULA =" Then add after = "I confirm that I am aware of unofficial overclocking limitations and fully understand that MSI will not provide me any support on it" That should unlock the overclocking features.
-
Code:
C:\Users\inteks\Downloads\setpll-10e>setpll m11xR2 setpll: m11xR2 BCLK settings available . . . 133 135 138 140 143 146 148 151 154 156 159 162 164 167 170 172 175 178 180 183 185 188 191 194 197 setpll: m11xR2 PCIE settings available . . .

Thanks Finally got it to Work
Doing 795 gpu and 960 memory is that Pretty good or what.
Anyone Know how i can go further on fsb? i can only do 159 do you guys know if its The memory or the Cpu? Is it a common problem to get over 160?
Or just my cpu thats not the best overclocker? or is it the Memory that usually goes wrong now the memory is in the 533mhz table and actually running in 636?
And Thanks inteks For that Chart explains ALOT !
And inteks am i supposed to do anything to get the overclocking on the gpu with you tray tool to get it to work or just install msiburner? -
A Bclk of 160 is a known limit for the most users.
-
I'ts not quite clear if it is the system bus or the memory that is limiting the OC, I suspect it to be the memory as I have tried a few sticks with results ranging from 155 to 170MHz.
-
i got a max stable OC of 166 . i tried to mod the ram from CL6 to CL7 with thyphoon, witch should give a little room for OC ram side but it stays at 166 so (on my rig) its the cpu that limits oc
-
Way back in the first thread, Hendrickson described gaining a small increase using SetFSB and adjusting the ram with Typhoon. Even still, I think you're right about the CPU limitations.
A few of us felt that the CPU seems to run out of OCing headroom earlier as you upgrade the CPU.
Bronsky
-
Yes, it's quite possible either way. In my case I'm pretty sure it's the ram thats stopping me. In most cases a good way to differentiate the source is to look at the type of failure. Freezing is normally related to ram or system bus capacity, and blue screen is normally CPU related. A bigger cache on CPU has in many cases a negative impact as well.
-
can someone explain to me how to oc the cpu using this ?
it works great for the fan function, and gpu oc. but i am totally confused regarding the cpu.
thanks -
download setpll and import SETPLL.BAT from folder where you installed setpll then Overclock
Bclk?
Is there a way to get msi burner to go further then 780 on gpu because it seems to be max?
i mean it not on option to go further then 780gpu and 1040 mem?
Hmm okey, Well my memory is actually at cl7 but still at jedec 4 wich is 609mhz its supposed to run in cl8. and my memory is actually running in 636.. and jedec 3 table wich is 533 mhz.
Maybe i should Try to set it to cl 8 and try
Okey so Bluescrren is often cpu ant hungup up is ram good to know
-
thanks, i answered ur gpu oc question in the owners p2 thread.
-
I like the program, especially considering it allows me to get 68 degree max temps in prime 95 with the fan set on 100%.
One thing though, would it be possible to change the fan settings to kick in AFTER the CPU reaches a certain temp as opposed to cutting off at a certain level. With the way it is now I have to manually switch the fan profile when I don't want it at 100%.
It would be nice if I could have it kick in at 60 degrees, and while it remains bellow that, at stock fan settings.
Can this be done? -
When updating to newer versions do i just over write my current folder? I have v14 set up perfectly and don't want to lose my profiles.
-
profile and settings are in user/appdata folder so you can overwrite 3820tray folder.
BTW. i still have probs with Fancontrol still get ACPI errors in eventlog. and also i had a bluescreen !!! the fancontrol in 3820tray works but i cant recommend its use !!!
better us this KBC mod from _InKr_ ! it works really well !!!!

i use 3820tray only for overclocking and powerprofiles myself ....Last edited by a moderator: May 8, 2015 -
update v16:
TDC TDP control for i5 turboboost added
see attachment ->
btw. this version force fan to 100% if cputemp is 95°C --- TDC TDP is optional set to 10w 10a on cpu temp is 90°C
have fun

link to v16 is corrupt.
-
Same problem here...
-
will this work with 4820tg for OCing the i5?
-
maybe , you can try it out. but dont use fancontrol!!!
edit: wait for version v17 !! i'll try to read the notebookmodel and switch off fancontrol automatic. v16 set fan to 100% on cpu temp above 95°C (even if fancontrol is off). this could be a problem on 4820 . . . . . -
Thank you!
I have a question though: how does the ATI Overclocking section on each profile interface with the MSI Afterburner settings? Like what exactly will it change in the MSI Afterburner settings with respect to the values you input for Core and Memory in 3820tray?
I usually have MSI Afterburner setup already to go to a profile for 650/1000 for 3D and remain in a profile for 550/800 for 2D (to allow for PowerPlay to clock down to 100/150 when the GPU is unstressed). But if I enter different values into the 3820tray section for ATI Overclocking, I can't see what difference it makes. -
it dosnt use profiles. last version od 3820tray use this lib for overclocking->
MSI Afterburner .NET Class Library - Guru3D.com Forums
it use msi afterburner sharedmemory feature to set core and memoryclock.
Powerplay should stay working. so you have to stress your gpu to see the new values -
Any chance you'll have overclocking for the i7? =D
-
Ah thanks, figured it out. De-assigned my original profiles and now it works as I expect it to.
Thanks again!
P.S. Is there any way to disable the system tray popup menu? Or can you make it so the delay when hovering over the icon is longer? I find that I bring up the status popup unintentionally quite often when I'm trying to locate a different icon in my status tray.
-
should work with all "core i" cpus
-
update v17:
-infowindow shows after delay
-checks if mainboard JM31_CP , if not writing to EC controller is disabled (now you can use it for other notebooks too. i.e.4820...)
-updated cpuspeed reading, now it reads turboboost speed correct -
is this ready to test on the 4820tg for ocing the cpu?
-
you have to try it yourself. i dont have a 4820 ....
-
until that update everythig worked perfectly, but with v17 program tells me i dont have 3820tg (maybe european version uses different mainboard or something).

i will update 3820tray, but pls post an export (regedit) of HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\HARDWARE\DESCRIPTION\System\BIOS
there 3820tray get mainboard infos. -
Cool! But Oriwen has to do the reg export... the model information seems to change with the bios version.
On 1.17 cpuz displayed Aspire 3820 and now on 1.19 it's JM31_CP. -
Uloz.to! - regedit-BIOS.reg
Hope it helps
I have an old bios, i know. I'm not big fan of bios flashing (little afraid i guess) because i once almost killed mainboard with bad flash. -
Inteks i can´t seem to get the tdp function to Work, Do i need to install trottlestop first?
Import some Kinda Way? because i can get trottlestop to change tdp but not woth 3820tray..
and to get overclockking to work on the 6550, do i just need to install msi afterburner and then change trough your program? -
how do you know that tdp dont work ??
set both to i.e. 99 start prime95 look at the infopanel in 3820tray if cpuclock reach turboboost multiplier...
right, for gpu overclocking you have to install afterburner
