    does it have integrated graphics?
If so then you will see a large increase because of your ram bandwidth going up along with the FSB.

The increase in CPU power shouldn't do much in most games, but it will give you a better 3dmark05/06 score.

    Mission accomplished!

2000 was the goal. A pretty big improvement over the 1400 at stock config. This is at 1.7GHz with dual channel Samsung 800MHz. More results later.

    Edit:
    Code:
    Old(1.4+3GB)/New(1.7+4GB)/Gain
    ------------------------------------
    3D Mark 03: 1356/2111/55.7%
    ------------------------------------
    Doom 3
    low: 13.6fps/19.1fps/40.4%
    med: 13.5fps/18.9fps/40.0%
    high: 12.9fps/18.3fps/41.9%
    Edit:
The trick to get this working is using original Vista drivers(1908 or 1829). The bad thing: There seems to be a bug in Half-Life 2 or the drivers. With original drivers it's choppy as hell, sigh.

Does anyone know if it is possible to have different accounts with different sets of drivers in Vista?

Has anyone put an SSD HD into the 1410? how hard is it? is it just as simple as pulling out the stock 250 gb and putting in a SATA 2.5" SSD?

Also, for those who've replaced the keyboard. Can I follow the process from here: http://forum.notebookreview.com/showthread.php?t=399929
(it's the keyboard removal for a 3810t) Is it generally the same?

It's as simple as that. Just be careful with the ribbon.
Yep, it's similar. Just don't use a screwdriver. Use plastic, a credit card for example.

Is there anything special I have to do to detach the keyboard connector? Or does it just pull out?

Do NOT just pull it out. You have to open the connector by gently lifting the brown/black bar first.

    Great.. good to know!

Of all the compatible keyboards (Aspire One 751h, Gateway LT31, Acer Aspire 3935) which one would you recommend?

I'm probably going to buy one off Ebay

That are two stiff plastic noses that can't be presses in like the others. You need a bit more force there. Unlock the red ones first and lift the keyboard in the middle then it's easier.

Hmm... der mali did some great benchmarks with games so you should check them out! (see first post in this thread)
Personally, I don't play games, but I can tell you that working with Photoshop and watching HQ youtube vids is more snappier. That is as far as I've tested it due to the lack of free time.

    Hi,

Does anyone gets perfect smooth 1080p mkv playback? I get about 98% perfection.. sometimes there's little lag.

    Config: w7, 1.4Ghz, 3gb@667, MPCHC+DVXA

If i have ram to @800 will that help? Or any special MPC HC settings?

While finished tweaking and waiting for the w7 upgrade, time to do some stuff, I installed latest version of splash lite (mirillis). Don't have a full movie (next on the list), though the Bourne trailer from Phil runs flawless. Nice neat program, I'm impressed also due to the fact my saved digital tv shows (.ts) are playing perfect with it.

can i just buy a new samsung 800 to dual channel properly with the flashed stock 800?? since the price of 667 and 800 is the same.

    THANKS.

EDIT:: thaiphoon burner from your link doesn't list win7 in the OS, can i still do it from my win7?

Careful - although the Acer date on these is 2009/10/05, there are later versions available on Intel.com. The file daes in the Acer-supplied version are from June 2009, wherease the version I'm running (8.15.10.192) is from September 2009.

There are traces on the mobo for an extra one, but the socket is not there and no one knows if it's active.

If you want to solder a mini pci-e connector and see if it works, then you might have an extra slot!

Aren't the newest ones from Intel 9.1.1.1019? The version numbering starting with a 9 which should be a magnitude beyond the 8 series. Or is there something odd about the way Intel versions their drivers?

Got myself a 1810TZ yesterday, very satisfied. Three questions, though.

    1. As mentioned both here and on other forums, CPU-Z can't read the correct CPU frequency. Is there a program that can somewhere out there? I heard Hwinfo32 would do the trick, but it shows the same values as CPU-Z.

    2. I'm getting around 500p in 3DMark06 with Win7 x64, latest drivers. That's about 100p less compared to many other results. I don't care much as I won't use the computer for much gaming, a 20% drop in performance makes me a bit worried, though.

    3. OC of both CPU and GPU is tied to the FSB if I have understood correctly. The only way to do it is by a hardware mod, right?

Congratulations and welcome to the boards :)
CPU-Z shows the right values except SuperLFM. The SuperLFM frequency has to be divided by 2.

Graphics performance depends heavily on DRAM bandwith. Put in 2x2GB 800MHz dual channel RAM. If you got dual channel RAM try the latest Vista graphics drivers.

    This is correct.

    Thank you!
Flashed the original Samsung-stick to 800 MHz and picked up another 2GB 800 MHz Kingston-module from my local computer store. Working perfectly in dual channel!

Tried the latest Vista-driver, lost about 100p in 3dmark (down to about 450) and lots of fps in games, the newest Win7 seems to work best for me.

Btw, no one noticed that we might have different panel quality? I've compared three 1410 and they all have different panel quality. I noticed a big difference in the 'whiteness' of the white.

In "Options" you can set the temperature, it works well.

I bought my 1810 off eBay so I couldn't compare it like I could in a shop. I've noticed that my Aspire One is redish and my 1810t is greenish compared side by side so I adjusted it in the graphics driver settings to look more like real white.
    Thanks, fixed.

I'm having no jow trying to overclock my 1410 - I had one of the techs in my company's rework lab make the required hardware mod, and I indeed can use SetFSB to make changes to the FSB multiplier, but no matter what value I use, I get crash/instability after hitting SET.

Silly me, I didn't write down te part number of the PLL when I had it open, as I had figured out that it was NOT the ICS part (GetFSB fails when I select any ICS module), but I can't seem to find the right Silego part #. Some will GET the settings, but the "Current" and "Select" values don't match; others match the GET values exactly (SLG8SP513V), but only let me chage the FSB/DDR in *HUGE* increments (200.0/400.0/100.0/33.3MHz goes to 266.7/533.3/100.0/33.3MHz).

My memory is 4GB (2 sticks) of brand new OPCZ2M8002G PC-6400 (400MHz) with settings 5-5-5-18 (stock).

I've researched all that I can find, but I can't figure out what I'm doing wrong. Any suggestions would be most welcome!

    TIA!

I ordered a slightly different one before he had a 1410 available but from the same seller. Only difference is mine has a longer cable. That one should work just fine.

I just finished installing exactly the same BT module from the same vendor, Chilko, installed without a problem. My bluetooth mouse is up and running again! Love it!

On another topic: keyboards for the Acer 751 are definitely compatible with the 1410. I got mine yesterday and switched it in today with the bluetooth module. If you've got a bilingual keyboard with the tiny left shift key, get a replacement 751 keyboard - they work great!
