[HELP] - Acer Asipre V15 Nitro - Won't Power Up on Battery

Hello everyone,

I am new to posting but have searched high and low for a solution to my problem, but it seems that I can't find it.

I recently took apart a brand new Acer V15 Nitro (VN7) and replaced the HDD with an SSD (SATA3 slot rather than M.2).

When I went to put the top cover back on, I noticed that holding the power button didn't turn the computer on (the power cord was unplugged). I was curious, so I plugged the cord in and voila, the computer turned on just fine and I installed Win10 on the new SSD.

When going into the OS, it shows there is a battery and it is, in fact, charging just fine and shows me the battery level.

However, if I unplug the power cord, the computer turns off instantaneously.

I took the top cover back off to see if all my connections are still there and in the right place (I would believe that I didn't touch the battery since all the cables from the top cover belong to the keyboard & trackpad).

The battery is plugged in just fine and, as mentioned previously, the battery is recognized in Win10 but the laptop refuses to function on the battery.

Is there any way someone can help me out here? I would appreciate it tremendously!

Strange as it may sound: Put back the screws in the center of the laptop, the two screws near the little battery icon. I'm not sure what mumbo-jumbo is at work here, but that fixes the problem.

 

there is a "battery cut-off" microswitch on the motherboard, that is disengaged when the top (keyboard) cover is firmly attached. If the two centre (underside) screws are not tight enough, or the top cover is not properly engaged, the switch will act a bit goofy and likely cause the issue you are having

 

@Redah & @glewarne Thanks figuring it out guys. I thought there is a switch somewhere but I did expect it to be manually operated and I couldn't find it on high-res photos anywhere.

I discovered this myself, with *exactly* the same issue. In my case, on reassembling I didn't "sqush" the secondary hard drive down in its foam surround enough, so when the top cover was back on, even fully screwed down, the hard drive was lifting the case off the cut-off switch just-enough to cause me the issues. Incidentally, the switch is just above the hard drive area, on the mainboard and is a small pushbutton type

There is a little battery logo near where the screw is.

Worked for my Acer Aspire VN7 Nitro 592G-70EN. What an odd thing to implement.
