I test the Windows 8.1 Pro x64 RTM and all seems normal but after reboot no WiFi, no Internet, no working Intel(R) Wireless WiFi Link 4965AGN adapter (the device can't start).
In the device manager 2-3 more unknown devices but without Internet i can't try to fix this problems.
Any ideas? any help please...
Thanks
PS
This is a known problem from Windows 8.1 Preview and old WiFi adapters, but no solution from MS until now. On RTM edition i hope the MS to fix. If any user have the same problem please post here.

Get a newer one
Seriously, you'll get more up-to-date, more efficient card as well as wider range and they cost like $40 for 7260AC! So why not?
-
Thanks, But this card Intel® Dual Band Wireless-AC 7260 ( http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/111040321303) fits on my laptop?
PS
This cheaper cards is compatible with my laptop?
http://www.ebay.co.uk/sch/i.html?_o...tel+Dual+Band+Wireless+mini+PCI+card&_sacat=0
all the half mini (express) with bracket and mini pci cards fits?
please if you know... -
It should work, but I'm yet to buy it and try it. I'm using Intel Ultimate-N 6300 flawlessly
Just look not to be HP, or Lenovo, since they wont work for you.

Same problem with same notebook model (Acer Aspire 5920). This problem not is in wireless adapter. Is in drivers and i see more peoples with same problem on 5920 with Windows 8.1.
And i have another problem with Windows 8.1 with my external USB HD not recognized correctly.
I give a vote of trust to Windows 8.1 but i really angry with this system. Microsoft again making $R*@! with their systems.
I will back to Windows 7.
Sorry for my bad english, not is my native language. -
Just testing my new (from ebay) Intel(R) Centrino(R) Advanced-N + WiMAX 6250 and nothing good.
The same problem on windows 8.1, in device manager, wifi card can't start to work, problem (yellow mark, no drivers or can't start work) on 2 pci devices and the intel communication device. Maybe this is mobo drivers problem?
So what can i do?
NO windows 8.1 on my laptop?
And i have problem (yellow mark, no drivers but i can't find...) with Intel(R) Centrino(R) Advanced-N + WiMAX 6250 in device manager but the same time works normal the second device Intel(R) Centrino(R) Advanced-N 6250 AGN.
What means all this?
Please help me... -
They are two separate chips I guess - WiMAX and WiFi that is. Are you able to use WiFi in this case?
-
1) Intel(R) Centrino(R) Advanced-N + WiMAX 6250 with problem (yellow mark, no drivers, no way!) don't work.
2) Intel(R) Centrino(R) Advanced-N 6250 AGN, this one works normal and i have WiFi / Internet.
After installation of new wifi card the orange light (ON/OFF wifi adapter) ights up continuously (ςηεν ςιφι ΟΝ, νο flashing...Why?
see this http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/WiMAX
edit
i find this drivers
http://drivers.softpedia.com/get/NE...iver-75100726-Upgrade-for-Windows-8-x64.shtml
and now fix it and i have more 2 devices:
1) Intel(R) Centrino(R) WiMAX 6250 Function Driver
2) Intel(R) Centrino(R) WiMAX 6250
I don't know how this adapters work and if is wireless adapter, help me...
thanks for your answer, but please tell me your opinion for this:
"Just testing my new (from ebay) Intel(R) Centrino(R) Advanced-N + WiMAX 6250 and nothing good.
The same problem on windows 8.1, in device manager, wifi card can't start to work, problem (yellow mark, no drivers or can't start work) on 2 pci devices and the intel communication device. Maybe this is mobo drivers problem?

I don't quite get your question. If it doesn't work after fresh boot, just press the WiFi button. You said that WiFi is working. I don't know why you took the WiMAX version, do you need it? Even if you do, most require SIM card and there is no place that you can put it in, so you'll have to use external device. Is it this what you are asking?
-
All the other is just information for my case.
I am not sure if i need really this WiMAX or if this works normal, but this is not the point.
The point is the windows 8.1 on my laptop..... -
Does Launch Manager even work on Win 8. 1 on this notebook?
Launch Manager is responsible for Wi-Fi on/off switch so if it's not working it's going to be impossible to make the card operational. -
I think that he got it working. Not everything though, just the WiFi.
-
I got lost and I don't know if Wi-Fi is working or not, at this point.
It's not immediately obvious from the posts above. -
Not the wifi works only once after installation of win 8.1 OS and do not working after rebooting of PC.
But the problem is not only wifi (more devices not working).
Intel wifi cards reported for problems with win 8.1.
I find this:
"I have the same laptop and I can tell you it IS the card reader driver, you need to find the right one, I remember I tried a couple different ones before getting the right one, and then magically all the devices started to work properly."
"I have the 5920g with Win 8.1 and I had the exact same problem, I solved it by updating the card reader driver." -
I think solved
...the problem is not only on wifi is on other 3-4 device like ata-ide (dvd-rw), intel storage, card reader etc.
The problem is the "fresh" auto update drivers for 2 devices below...
This is the steps:
1) Install windows 8.1 without internet connection (no auto update drivers).
2) After installation and before first internet connection install manual drivers (old from windows 7) for:
- Card Reader Ricoh Card Reader Driver (R5C833) v.3.62.02 (2009/10/22) from Acer Acer | Download
- CIR WinBond CIR (Consumer IR) Driver v.7.1.62.2012 (2008/12/03)
3) Done, no more unknown devices on device manager, no more devices with yellow mark (except the CIR WinBond but this no problem, just like windows 8).
Now i test my laptop....i hope no more problems like that....
Thanks to all for answers

Edit
I have some issues with internet connection (limited or no internet), but i am not sure if is windows 8.1 drivers (this thread) issue or modem wifi router settings problem or problem of my wifi card.
My new wifi card is this Intel® Centrino® Advanced-N + WiMAX 6250 622ANXHMW ( Intel® Centrino® Advanced-N + WiMAX 6250 622ANXHMW: Declaration) and don't how use it well. I 'll test my old Intel WiFi Link 4965AGN.

Edit 2
My old wifi card Intel WiFi Link 4965AGN works perfect now. I don't know...what can i tell about all this situation... -
- The problem on device manager with 3-4 device like ata-ide (dvd-rw), intel storage, card reader etc (yellow mark, no drivers or can't start work etc) is on drivers for windows 8.1 and the solution is in my previous post (old drivers on link above).
- The problem for the Intel WiFi Link 4965AGN is the win 8.1 and the new microsoft drivers (from auto updates) and the solution is in my previous post (old drivers on link above).
- BUT the problem for the Intel Centrino Advanced-N + WiMAX 6250 622ANXHMW the problem is the security options of wireless network and the point is the data encryption. When use on my wifi modem router WPA2-PSK [AES] (Wi-Fi Protected Access 2 with Pre-Shared Key) or higher security options (for examble Mixed WPA-PSK+WPA2-PSK) the wireless connection is problematic but if use WPA-PSK [TKIP] WPA-PSK (Wi-Fi Protected Access Pre-Shared Key) NO PROBLEM, works fine!
Now work on my Acer 5920G with Windows 8.1 Pro WMC without wifi connection problems for few hours, i am keep testing.
Thnaks....

OMG thank you so much! you're my hero
Note: I didn't reformat my windows 8.1, I just instaled:
- Card Reader Ricoh Card Reader Driver (R5C833) v.3.62.02 (2009/10/22) from Acer Acer | Download
- CIR WinBond CIR (Consumer IR) Driver v.7.1.62.2012 (2008/12/03)
and it worked! -
0. Download CIR WinBond CIR (Consumer IR) Driver 7.1.64.1010 3.1 MB from Acer Support.
1. Open device manager and select Nouvoton CIR Transceiver
2. Right-click and Update driver software
3. Select "Locate and install driver software manually" then "Let me pick from a list of device drivers on my computer"
4. Click on Use disk
5. Browse your downloaded XP driver and search winbondhidcir.inf file
6. Select Winbound HID CIR Receiver, then Next and Accept pop-up warning window.
No more yellow marks on device manager :thumbsup:dio007 likes this.
