    Hello NBR.com fans,

    Please help me. I want to know that which of this is faster for gaming and application. 4002 is 64bit but do i need 64bit Windows in two to three years.
    What is different between 32bit and 64 bit Windows.

    More on M40 has 1,73 Ghz with 2MB cache , will it can beat Turion64 with 1,6 Ghz. or Turion is better.

    Cause price in my country is different only 200USD so i need to decide which one is better in CPU and VGA performance. will 6600 beat X700? I am quite play game often so I need a optimal gaming performance as well.

    Please anyone can help me out!

    More or less equal, both can play practically any game in the market today, some might favor the 6600 & vice versa(depends on the game).

    The processors again are also closely matched & there wont be any percivable difference between the 2 when gaming, but if you run a benchmarking program like Super Pi, then the P-M 1.73Ghz will be faster.

    Acer, I believe is the first manufacturer to install Win Xp 64 bit in its laptops(there are some, dont know exactly about the 4002. Now the major advantage of 64bit is that when programs are written to support 64 bit processors, those programs will generally perform faster than on a 32 bit processor of the same speed. This is partially because 32 bit computers must handle 64 bit numbers in two steps, whereas 64 bit computers only need to use one step. The second major advantage is that 64-bit processors can address more memory than 32-bit processors. This is not very important for laptops but is one of the advantages of 64 bit computing. There are ofcourse many other advantages, but those were the 2 main ones.

    I would pick the Acer Ferrari because it is in the same performance range as the M40 but has 64 bit capcble processor & also has the better chassis.

    If you want to keep the notebook for more than 1 year go with a 64-bit system. Trust me, it will feel no fun to be on the outside when it(64-bit) is "taking over" Windows XP 64 users are already reporting faster response and handling of the system. It has been released recently and the Ferrari 4000 series are certified for it. Also next year, LongHorn 64-bit only ( Windows Vista ) will be released. It is the next Windows generation, like going from Windows 3.11 to Windows 95 so to speak.

    From all the things i read on the 2 processor the main pros and cons are;

    -) Pentium M conserves more power than Turion which is an advantage for laptop.

    -)32bit vs 64bit

    I would choose the 4002 for the 64 bit after i read up more on win vista if both unit have similar specs.

    I like the idea of 64 bit, but the acer ferrari is overpriced, mainly due to the ferrari badge. I'd say get an Acer 5024 (UK) or Acer 4400 (US), they are a better value for the money.

    BTW, the 1.73 Pent. M will be faster than the Turion 1.6, but not noticable.
