Acer Aspire 5630
A couple hours ago it was 100% Fully Charged. All of a sudden it's now 0% Fully Charged. I tried removing battery and reinserting, it detects 'no battery' then 0% Charging... 0% Fully Charged. The battery light also flashes to indicate low battery. I thought this is just being weird, so removed AC and battery. Put battery back in, laptop won't turn on. Plug in AC, starts "charging", turns on... unplug AC, laptop dies.
Any ideas?

Sounds like the battery died. I've heard that they can do that sometimes. How much time did you get off the battery before this started happening?
-
I was getting about 4 hours new... low brightness, low cpu. Recently (a few weeks ago including yesterday) it'd drop to 36% then complain that it's low power. Heck, it was working today, then just all of a sudden 0%.

might need to contact acer... seems your battery might be dead.

Are batteries covered under warranty?
-
yah should be for that first year!
-
I always thought it wasn't covered... given that they say not to send it in
-
How old is the battery? .. Have you tried cycling it?
Batterys are never usually covered because they slowly start to die as soon as they are created out of the factory. -
Well it's out of warranty, Dec '06. What do you mean by cycle? It WAS working, then while laptop was on, it just "died".
-
Batteries need to be calibrated every few months by discharging it till the cut off point and fully charging it again (aka cycling)
-
I do that all the time... use it until laptop auto-hibernates, then charge it up. Now, it's stuck at 0% full charge for some reason.
0% Fully Charged battery?
