    Has anyone tried replacing their screen to a 1600x900 (LG LP140WD1-TLA1)? If it does work i'll get the acer and upgrade the screen later.

    Your cable is likely only single LVDS, you need dual for higher resolutions. You can check by looking at the cable (monitor end), if there are any gaps in the wiring then its single.
