    Hi!

I just received my Travelmate 8204. The original resolution is 1600 x 1200 but I can't see the desktop with this resolution. What to do??? What is the best resolution for a 15.4 inches screen?

    Thanx

The 8204's native resolution is 1680x1050

    1. Right click on your desktop and select "Properties"
    2. Select the "Settings tab"
    3. Adjust the "Screen resolution" slider so it says 1680x1050

If I select this option, everything is really small and all the website takes 25% of the screen.. please help!

You can increase the dpi of the screen from 90 to 120.

    1. Right click on your desktop and select "Properties"
    2. Select the "Settings tab"
    3. Click on "Advanced" button
    4. Select 120 from the "DPI setting"

The other thing you can do is decrease the display settings to 1400x1050.

One other thing is to set the fonts in the "Appearance" tab to "Large"

    Try changing your resolution

    Right Click on the desktop,
    Choose Properties
    Click on the Settings Tab
Change the resolution to say 1280x800

See if that helps, the text may be a little fuzzy (because it's not running at native resolution) but much bigger.

Reducing the resolution will make everything larger on the screen, but it will look very fuzzy, and you will be much more prone to getting eye strain.

Most people who buy the 8204 (or any machine with a WSGA+ LCD) do so specifically because they want the higher resolution, and can therefore fit more on the screen at once. Not recommended if you don't have 20/20 eyesight though!

It sounds like you might have been better off buying a machine with a 1280x800 (WSXGA) screen..
