Hey everyone have been hanging around for a while never posted though. I love the info you guys put out here. I need a little help with my laptop just got it last week it looks great. I upgraded to XP Pro but even before that I was having an issue with the wireless internet. I have a Netgear router MR8543 it is a wireless B. I connect to the network fine sometimes but when it comes to surfing the web it stinks. It doesn't open up some of the sites I go to it will sit there forever. I tried what I thought was everything I would repair the connection a it would work fine. Of course this doesn't happen when I'm plugged in to the electric just on batteries.I called Acer they told me to make a scheme under the ePowerManagement and worked fine for a while. When I shut down the PC turn it back on it gets the 169 address. So I release my ip renew my IP and I get the 192... IP which is what I want. Well when I go and ping router 300 times I get 29 lost packets as I'm typing this it will not connect to Compusa's website. But yet I can go to other websites. I don't understand why on electric I don't have a problem. This scheme I have it is set for maximum on the CPU when I'm on batteries. Also I about three feet from router, laptop sitting on same desk as router.I did upgrade to XP Pro not fresh install. Any help or ideas with this problem. Thanks

I came across your matter over the epower stuff but have you tried anything about fixing the AP. Why dont you try seeing both view over the your AP and your notebook sometimes is because of the AP is giving the problem. I have problem with the entering side after 7 hour of online leaving the PC running after 7 hour later when I start browsing again the line drop so badly maybe I think you should look at the AP first.Hope the problem comes from the router and not from your Notebook cause as I can see by right when you on your notebook a Windows Networking Configuration will find the best IP that can fix in with the Particular AP but how come you need to refresh or repair the IP then research from 169 to 192.

    Hope this Help.

Thanks for the reply. I have a cordless 2.4 ghz phone on the same desk as the router could this be the problem? Also at work we have the same router and it works fine. Do you guys think if I got a G router it would be better?
