This is only a minor issue for me, but I wondered if anyone else had experienced intermittent behaviour of the WiFi light on the 1690 series (or other Acers). When switched on, WiFi remains on as expected, but sometimes the LED goes out. The Bluetooth one works fine. If I toggle WiFi, the light comes on again. It is actually quite possible to toggle it fast so you don't lose your connection though!
(Interestingly, those buttons appear to be delivering keyboard interrupts - since installing IntelliType, the Bluetooth button sends Save As when activated and Print when deactivated.)
Of course, I wish they hadn't put those buttons on the front where they're apt to get bumped, but never mind!

Are you using the wireless?
The light is only on when it is searching for a wireless connection or is connected to one. When it isn't doing one of those, it goes off. -
Oh, when I am using it, yes. It blinks when searching, then goes solid, then sometimes goes off - and the connection still works after the light goes off.

It happens to me too. I have this feeling that the light goes off when the is notebook is too hot or if it uses WAP connection or just simply because it is a bug.

Hello,
got the same problem with a Dell M70. Most of the time it looks like the led turns off when the notebook runs on battery. So, I think it got something to do with the powerscheme. It is not true that the led turns off when there is no connection or search for a connection. Really annoying, because I want to now for sure when wireless is on or off.
If somebody now how to solve this, or what is causing the problem, I really would like to know that. Thx
