I just created the eRecovery-DVDs using VirtualCD and now I want to reinstall Windows 7 and have two options
1. Clean install without Acer Crap and Bloatware, but removing the PQService-partition as well
2. D2D-reinstall + Bloatware, but keeping the PQService-partition
Isn't there a way to get a clean installation up running and still have a PQService-partition in place, just in case?

How do you plan on installing W7.
Do you have a Windows disc ? as I didn't think you could reinstall just the OS without the Acer stuff from what is on the hidden partition.
Or am I wrong on that as it's a very interesting option.
If you have a disc you can use that to format the C partition and install W7. That leaves all other partitions intact including the pqservice. How you would access that partiton and whether it would work is another matter.
I did the above on my 9301 (xp) and clean installed Vista from a disc and I still have the PQ partiton that still shows using AcronisTI. I can vouch for how good a clean install is.
My advice... go for itand use something like AcronisTI to make a running incremental backup as you go putting the image/s on the D partition.
I would install all the Windows updates... do not go online or install any 3rd party stuff... just make a complete image of W7 fully updated as it stands today. No AV, no Adobe no nothingjust W7.
Then make a full disk image of that and label as such, preferably putting it on a separate HDD.
Then build your OS up again using Acronis incrementals so if anything goes wrong (driver/application) you can roll back experiment and sort the problem and have zero errors with the installation.
My 4 year old Aspire 9301 with Vista done this way flies compared to a friends brand new Toshiba laptop with W7 and all it's bloatware.
Good luck... -
Hi,
My suggestion:
Simply get another HDD, where you can install your clean version of Windows. Keep the original HDD as emergency solutions in case you need to claim warranty and similar.
I got rid of the entire crap manually. No problems so far.
