You should be able to work around that by setting up a Scheduled Task. Just make sure "Run with highest privileges" is checked. When I set up tasks like this, I usually set them as delayed start to run 30 seconds after log on.

If you want a more detailed guide on how to set it up as a Scheduled Task, please ask!

I'm asking :D the problem is that I can't finish setting up this task, "he" asks me for the password and no matter if I choose the User account and type in the correct password or I choose the Admin account + correct password, he tells me that sth is wrong.

If I set it up under my admin account, it doesn't work :(

    hey,

thanks for your help, but it still doesn't work if I try it like explained in the example - it just doesn't start on logon.

The error message appears when I tried to create the task on a non-admin account, I was asked for a password and no matter what I typed in, the error was saying that it was wrong or I didn't have the permission.

So having read through the linked site, I tried to create it as admin, still no 1810tray on non-admin logon :( btw: the task doesn't appear in the task planer when I'm logged on as non-admin user. any ideas?

    Hello everybody,

I've got a 1810T laptop with a SU 3500 @ 1,4 Ghz, 3 GB Ram and using win7. Always used the .23 version of 1810Tray and everything worked fine, but now I've got a weird problem.

I updated it to .52 and now temp readings aren't correct anymore, so also the fan control is messed up. I tried to go back to the old .23 version, didn't help.

Then I decided to update the bios to the latest version available at Acer's site V1.3314. Also this didn't help, but at least I discoverd a kind of logic in the problem.

With the help of Real Temp I can see the real temperatures and discovered that:

When the temp is lower then 40 degrees, 1810Tray says its 255 degrees, the Icon is red and the fan is just normal speed.
When the temp is higher then 40 degrees, 1810Tray starts to work, but starts counting at 1 degree (so 42 --> 2 degrees).

I adjusted the settings so now it tries to keep the temp at 0 degrees, so it works kind of...

Could anybody help me with the problem, so I can use the software like I did before?

    Thanks in advance,

    Mr. Oizo

I have red this whole topic thinking that I would need this program on my 1810t (su3500).

I bought i second hand and when I had the stock bios on it I did notice the fan quite a lot. But after playing around with the power settings (min. processor state to 0% and the cooling mode on passive) together with the newest bios the laptop is very quiet and it doesn't need this program.

I am posting this to let people with this laptop know that updating the bios might be worth a try.

Edit: Ok, nevermind ^^ :( It's not that quiet after all. Have 1810tray installed now and thanks to wpcoe it starts up automatically. Thank you inteks for all you effords!!

1830 is totally different hardware, so 1810tray is likely to not work.

Does anyone also have the problem that sometimes the program doesn't start up automatically and then when you start the .exe there suddenly 2? I don't use the auto start function in the program but the one discribed above here (scheduled task).

Also, sometimes when I hover my mouse over the tray icon it dissapears and the program closes? I have to restart the program it to get the functionality back. It easy to restart (got the .exe in my start menu now), but still couldn't escape the thought that it's not supposed to do this. I am running win 7 pro 32 bit with bios v3314 on my 1810t.

Ok, dudes, first of all, great tool!! At least I can change my fan speed in some manner, but not as supposed to be (no tool has gone so far yet).

This thread is too huge to read it completely (til page 11 I read it), so I have no idea, whether this problem was told before.

    And here it is:
1810tray.exe works properly, no error messages and the like.
BUT the fan speed modes don't work as they should. 'slow', 'very slow', 'very high' and 'stop' don't affect anything, fan speed stays the same.
'Medium' causes the fan to stop (which is not too bad). 'High' effects the fan to speed up to a certain limit. The main problem is the 'auto' mode. It causes the fan speeding slowly up til the maximum speed and it is not going to stop anytime. I have to put it to 'medium' then, to stop it effectively.

My system is a acer timelinex 4820tg-644g16Mnks with Windows 7 HP64.

Can anyone help? I don't wanna give up so close to the solution!!

    thx
    Andy

Ok, I've figured it out. If I put 1810Tray in Autostart (checking the button in the settings of it), it starts up without problems (even without UAC interruption) and gets in automode, which then runs without speeding up but regulating the fan very well. I can change settings of temperature and according fan speed, which are saved throughout every shutdown.

Only if I wanna set something manually in the fan speed modes, I get the mentioned problems. So, in the end, it functions right the way I wanna have it. THANKS Inteks!!!! Now my Laptop is unhearable (especially with SSD) during Office and Internet usage!

Keep in mind that Tjunction is 105 only for SU7300 and SU9400.For SU3500-SU2300-SU4100-Celeron743 the Tjunction is 100.So if you have one of those processors set it to 100 if you want accurate temp readings.

I have a Core i7-640m. As long as I know the Tjunction for these processors is 105.

Are there any settings specified for the new Core processors?

But by the way, it still runs on automode quite well, if I don't change anything manually. It was a try anyway, I know that it isn't thought for my Notebook.

One thing though: Automode only uses stop, slow, high and very high speed. Medium is the same like stopping. Very Slow is the same as Slow. Maybe I can figure something out for this issue, but the rest is quite reliable.

    TimelineX 4820TG

Any one making progress on using this good tool on this laptop? As Fraderous said, the software works fine except that we can properly set the right fan speed. Anyone came out with the codes for setting the fan speed, in particular lowest fan rotation? Which settings are you using with this machine? I am not really able to control the fan properly :(

PS: Core temp is indicated is too high (ca. >15 as what Core Temp says)
PPS: there is a short handbook on how to use it?

As far as I know no one has come up with a way to control fan speed on 4820TG. I did find out how to control it on 3820TG. I wrote a small article on figuring out how to control the fan and other hardware via Embedded Controller (EC) (this is how 1410tray does it, by the way), and you can find it Using Embedded Controller (EC) to control your laptop's hardware. (by prikolchik). If you want, you can try finding fan control yourself by reading the article and then trying it on your 4820TG!

    Good luck!

Dear Inteks, I've used your 1810tray v.46 under Win7. Unfortunately I have to change it to win XP.
All available versions do not start with error message "Init error 0xc0000135". Nothing written to log file.
I've tried v.43 v.52 v.53 Could you give me link to download version working on XP?

I've read that it was version 11.
I pray for it. This fan make me crazy.

im sorry if this sounds like a dumb question but ive been trying to get 1810 tray to run on my computer. i have win 7 64bit. if i download the zip file and click the 1810tray.exe nothing seems to happen. if i upack 1810tray.exe to desktop the symbol appears, but then again if i click the symbol it says Status error DLL_not found. i really dont know how to fix this and a word of advice would be greatly appreciated.

    hey guys

on my 1810 I have a problem with the fan control: sometimes even though the tray says it's in "very high" mode the fan is only in "high mode" when it's switching automatically. When I set it on "very high" manually it's definitely faster/louder.

Also when reaching around 70°C the fan seems to turn out for a monent to turn on again afterwards (then I think on very high).

Has anyone else encountered this problem?

    Hi everybody,

would it be possible with this tool to enter a percentage when the battery of my Acer Aspire 1810tz is to be charged?

As soon as I connect it to the power the battery is being charged even if there are 99 % left. At my old Laptop (Dell Inspiron) it was only charged when it was below 90 or 95 %.

I'm sorry if this is a stupid question, I hope to get an answer anyways ;-)

    Hello!
I've just tried 1810tray after using SmartFan 1.17 and have some trouble with device list - it is empty, so I'm not able to control (enable/disable) wireless\webcam\ethernet adapter.
Is there any way to solve this problem? any way "to fill my device list" :) ?

    Hi inteks,

    I have a 1810TZ with SU4100 and upgraded to 0.53.

Is it correct to set TjMax to 100°C or I have to keep at 105°C?

What's correct to have the right T reading?

This point is not clear to me. For the other points program is really fantastic...thanks again for the great work! :)

First, thanks for all the other developers and testers here for making such a nice little program and explaining how to use and modify it!

I've experimented using 1810tray on an Acer TravelMate Timeline X 8572 (Phoenix BIOS 4.0) and this is a warning for other users that the program in the original version (Extensa settings?) seems to work but all it does is stopping the fan completely. So after looking into the problem and spying on my BIOS I got the program to work well using the following settings instead which are specific for the Timeline 8572:

    Hexcodes DC: 0xBB, 0x86, 0x29, 0x80, 0xBE, 0xB2, 0x00
    Hexcodes AC: 0x18, 0x29, 0xC7, 0x80, 0xBE, 0xB2, 0x00
    Port: 0x55

Using these parameters I can't hear the fan of my Acer (only the hard drive) until it reaches the 0xB2 stage which it only does when I test out the limits of the CPU.

Of cause, I can't guarantee there are no mistakes - be careful.

The program works fine, the problem is: it only reads the temperature once, so after a boot it constantly thinks the temperature is 26°C and never turns on the fan, causing overheating. After a reboot it displays around 53°C, so the reading definitely works, I just don't know why it only works once :/

It would be awesome if you could take a look at that inteks

Hi I have a 1810TZ for 3.5 years, in march my hard drive had an error after 27000 operating hours, because the Windows 7 Key was not Readable, now Windows 8 Pro works on the laptop, now I have the 52 and 53 version once downloaded, but can not get the desired result. With Windows 7 and a 3 year old version of the program, the temperature was updated on the screen in the taskbar. With Windows 8 is always the same temperature, the program "Works" but not 100%, last week it has not adjusted the fan speed, and the laptop switched off when i Play an video. On Windows 7 it Works nice, the Older version.

Are there people who have the problem?

Why is the tray a problem...I'm a newbie...I just had a hard drive replaced for me on my Aspire, dumb i spilled squash on it..

They never put windows 7 back on, just Vista supposedly more ? Vulnerable to attacks?

Might use some info from other Threads on the forum to re install.
As I said I'm a newbie but I'm interested in getting my head inside what was a relatively free laptop used for college.

The HD output is good, the only other thing is that the LCD has given up so using on 19" External monitor
