    I have no clue. It seems to be a problem with the embedded controller. Others tried SmartFan on 3810t and had no luck either.

    I have tried to use devcon.exe that is included in your package and whenever I try to enable/disable webcam/LAN it just says "Disable failed" and refuses to work. Is there some sort of x64 version out there? I've found a few on google but they say my operating system is not supported.

    Thx.

    Thanks for this utility, it's great.

    However, it tends to freeze a lot for me on Win7 x64, 1810TZ. Usually this happens sometimes when resuming from sleep, but also sometimes (I think) when the screen is turned off after inactivity. I don't run a custom resolution.

    The symptoms are that the icon stops updating and opening the menu draws an empty frame where the menu is supposed to be. The process doesn't use significant amounts of CPU when frozen.

    By the way, any chance of releasing the source code?

    Gr8t work! I really like this tool. Way better than smart fan (for my usage). Keeps the fan very quiet.

    It freezes sometimes for me too (like discribed on post #62), I'm using Vista 32bits

    Any chance to see an option like "Automatically start with Windows" ?

    Make sure that you enable Aero in the display options first. I noticed that the Enable/Disable Aero actions only had an effect when Aero was turned on in in Windows.

    Maybe similar for the webcam, but I haven't tested it...

    inteks: Thanks so much for this great tool. Rep for sure :)

    Windows asks permission to run this program every time it is started. It does the same thing when it is placed in startup. Is there any way to get it to start without this request for permission?

    You could create a task and have it launch 1810 tray at startup or logon. That's what I do for rivatuner on my more powerful pcs.

    FWIW, I noticed the Temp readings don't agree with CoreTemp or RealTemp on my 1810T (SU7300). It looks like it assumes the Tj Max is 110C, not 105C.

    Still, I'm glad to have a way to silence the fan.

    Thanks for this great tool, it works greeeaat on Win7 x64! Now that my Acer is QUIET, its FAR better than it was before :D

    Is there any chance of releasing a version that allows us to use/make our own personal settings by profile? Having temp steps for fan speeds something like " if temp below x1 deg fan state:slow; if temp x1 - x2 fan state:medium; if temp x2 - x3 fan state: high; if temp x3 - x4 fan state:very high; if temp x4- fan state:supreme". This would be helpful for me since I want the fan to be super quiet, but at the same time once above a certain temp I want to be safe.

    OK I changed to this method rather than disabling UAC for the whole computer. The task route works if I select start at logon, but for some reason will not work for start at startup.

    It doesn't depend on the CPU, it depends on the embedded controller and the BIOS. So it should work on all 11.6" of the series.

    How about allowing the user to set the TJmax, or pick their CPU? Per the ARK @ Intel.com, the SU7300 has a TJmax of 105C, the other CPU's in the Acer 1410/1810 have a TJmax of 100C.
    So, unless your applet can tell which CPU is in the system and adjusts accordingly the temperature reading is off for some of the CPUs.

    hi, does anyone know if it is possible to turn off the front leds without hardware mods?

    also it would be great if someone could explain a little how the whole "software mod" process works. what registry are you actually editing? and where do you find the addresses/values?

    have the same problem on my freshly installed 32-bit XP..
    (In Win7 x64, which I kinda started to dislike, it worked like a charm)
    >The app actually _does_ work but, as already mentioned, no settings can be changed.
    ^The annoying thing about that is the taskbar (auto-hide) which pops up every time the fan setting(speed) changes.

    ----

    From the info I managed to gain, the application seems to need that 'PowerEnumerate'-function from 'PowrProf.dll'..
    Even though XP does have the aforementioned dll, it seems to be a 'slightly outdated' version;

    ->msdn info about the 'PowerEnumerate'-function:
    would be gr8 if you could make the app XP(and UNIX, and .... :D)-compatible.
    thanks in advance!

    this tool gets the temp from the EC chips. it has nothing ti do with the TJmax or something else. if you think the temp is wrong, only a bios update can fix this .
