I want to sell my 1810tz notebook because of different reasons, one is the buzzing noise problem over speaker or line-out. So is there any easy way in resetting the 1810tz drive C: to default state like out of the box state? There is a hidden partition 12Gb in size, is that a backup Windows 7 installation partition I can access while booting or so? And if yes, will it delete all data stored on the HDD just like clean installation?

Restoring to factory state will (assuming you didn't add any partitions of your own) restore a 'fresh' operating system.

You data onthe C: will be 'deleted' but not unrecoverably.

If you wanted or needed to do a better job ideally use a wipe utility on C: ONLY (Not the whole disk or you lose your back up copy, media player possibly and the ability to restore !!)

For 'Field security' at the very least delete all your mail, passwords, favourites, autofills, documents whatever, delete the trash, defrag, then fill up the new spare space on C with multiple copies of (e.g.) DVD'd full of a variety of big movie files. Then delete them too then do the restore. You data would cost big bucks to restore professionally at that point

    Hey,

thx for the answer. Yes I know that, actually I already wiped free disc space on C: with PGP. But my question was, if there is a hidden recovery partition on the 1810tz and how to access it?

If there is then it will be easily seen using diskpart, partition manager etc

In your first post you stated there WAS a 12GB partition which is about right for a recovery image partition. Unless you re-wrote it no user data wil be inthere.

If you have to look inside you have to use a disk editor to change the partition type from hidden (maybe) and some code number the maker liked to (usually 07)
then it appears, gets a drive letter and can be browsed. It probably wont work like that though so remember what the type was before to set it back and re hide again using a disk editor
